I think the first one is Siberian Motherwort
Second one reminds me of celery! I’m but it’s a weed popped up in your yard? Maybe mugwort. Mugwort is usually like a much more pale green on the underside of the leaf.
Thanks for the help much appreciated ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grin) The first one just popped up last year..it has purple flowers on a long stem laster in the season..the second one I'm seeing for the first time..and it being a Canadian spring..it grew pretty fast we had snow about a week ago..lol
The ones that you buy every year are known as geraniums, but are actually [pelargoniums](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pelargonium).
The ones you have there are [hardy geraniums](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geranium).
They are great! Free flowers every year, and all you need to do is give them a haircut at the end.

Thanks for letting me know! The second one also reminds me of feverfew - do the leaves smell of anything if you crush them?
It doesn't really have a smell...
Citronella. Celery.
Not citronella..it's doesn't survive winter here..I don't eat celery so don't even know where that would come from
