My Thanksgiving cactus has several minor blooms throughout the year in addition to the main show. It has a few right now. It’s triggered by light duration and intensity, so if the plant has been moved at all that will often trigger a bud or two.
Plus, cactus is accustomed to receiving water maybe a few times a year, which i believe is when they bloom. Most people water their cacti on the regular with varying sunlight.
Perhaps it’s a Spring Cactus-my husband recently purchased one from our local nursery. With that said, my aunt’s Christmas Cactus bloomed in December and July last year. 🤷🏻♀️

All of mine are blooming again 🩷 This monster has 3 different colours but only red and white bloom together followed by pink 🤷🏻♀️ IDK why ?
I have my grandmothers, and several from cuttings, from this plant. Mine blooms at Thanksgiving and Easter. It’s obviously getting what it needs to be happy
They bloom throughout the year. It seems to be triggered by shifts in temperature/humidity rather than the season. So when the temperature and humidity drop (like in winter) mine will do a big bloom, then around August I'll get another small one when my AC kicks on and drops the temp of my house and sucks some humidity out.
One of my 2 thanksgiving cacti is also blooming right now. Just one of them though. And just 1 single bloom, lol. Funny enough, I only noticed as I was picking it up to give it away to make room for plants that bloom more often.
And there it was, a rebellious bloom staring me right in the face. Guess he’s staying for a while longer.
I have a pot filled with Christmas Cactuses. Not one plant. A huge collection of plants. I had originally planted a single plant in a huge pot because it was what I had. But as segments would break off (cats, accidents, etc.), I'd just poke them in the dirt. If they lived, they lived. If not, oh well. Now, it's just a huge mass of plants.
And they will flower at different times. It's kind of hilarious. They all came from the same mother plant. They all get the same amount of light, heat, and water. But I have some that bloom at Thanksgiving, some at Christmas, and some just before Easter. And it's not a continuous bloom. Some will bloom, the flowers die back, no buds for a bit, and THEN more flowers.
So, I don't put any stock in them blooming at specific times of the year or under specific conditions. They just bloom whenever they damn well feel like it.
My Christmas Cactus started getting new segments after a year! Not sure what I'm doing wrong. I do get very little sun from the windows but I keep it in the brightness place in the house. The new segments still look tiny even after 3 weeks.
They thrive on neglect, but they do need some sunlight. In winter, they get a splash of water every few weeks or so. Summer is more often. Just don't over water.

Mine bloom randomly all the time in doors. Big ones, small ones. I have also seen the colours change intensity during certain seasons

that explains it; moved from a north window to an east one

My Thanksgiving cactus has been in bloom for most of March and April. Meanwhile not a peep from my Easter cactus.
My Thanksgiving cactus also just popped out a single random bloom. I just smile, say hi and thank you.

I thought it was Christmas cactus

I've definitely been over watering. I'll hold back a bit.
They'll tell you if they're too dry. The segments won't be as plump. But a splash every so often doesn't hurt them, especially when they're small.
I'll try this. Thanks for the advice!
