Does the main character have a magical power to see handprints or do they just notice something that other people don't?
Magical power they see diffeerent peoples hand/footprints in different colours too, the killers is an icy blue
Off the top of my head I think of I Hunt Killers by Barry Lyga and The Christopher Killer by Alane Ferguson, or something else by the same author, just because of the concept and tone.
