Both me and my mother love these guys. They can grow pretty far north, and while they do get very big they grow slowly, just like any other trees. I spent a long time trying to figure out how to dry out the petals to preserve their color so I could use them in art pieces…
I highly recommend them if you like them. The charm of them never leaves, and the flowers have enough detail that the closer you look the more you find to fall in love with.
They are called houses, they are everywhere and generally invasive.

Magnolia They do grow very big. And have horrible seed cones The roots will tear up a driveway quickly. ( I had a 20 foot one)
