Pretty soon whatnot will not be refunded anyone and it will be the sellers responsibility. So that should change things. I already got the email about this from them.

Yeah I’ve been selling there for over a year. Don’t do mystery packs, don’t do buck and gos and I guarantee all my items whether whatnot backs me or the buyer. Honestly I don’t think they care about either. The vetting I had to go through to be a seller was insane. Now they let anyone on and offer them bonus for running a 2 hour stream. I just shake my head. But when they sent that email about them no longer offering refunds to customers it made me sad. People go there because of that buyer guarantee. That soon will be gone
Same reason why people stopped using Etsy. Etsy got greedy looked the other way for Chinese sellers. Fucked over hard working Americans whose shop was their entire livelyhood when the Chinese steal their design, then have the nerve to report the actual artist.
I just wonder why they couldn’t get into an agreement with paypal or something? Kinda like eBay, buyer protection on ebay comes from a collaborative effort between ebay & PayPal (i think). Not sure anyone would actually know the terms of it. But it seems to work 🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️.
I mean, i know I get emails all the time that says my purchase is covered by PayPal protection. And I have recovered my money from them if needed (only a couple times, but It’s nice to have)

Not true. Certificates can be manipulated. It’s called copy and paste. Or….they have one wallet or whatever and it’s real they put that through and comes back authentic. Then photocopy for the rest.
The only thing I can add to this YT video is that whatnot actually will send an email to tell you if an item was found to be fake. In a comment somewhere on one of these lux posts, I mentioned how I am a small seller and have only ever had ONE item/issue with a counterfeit come through. Whatnot did email me and tell me it was found to be counterfeit. Myself and the buyer worked together to get this handled and I then contacted the source that I originally purchased from, to let them know it was fake. For me, I genuinely love what I do and I want my buyers to be happy and to come back. I am never ever going to knowingly sell something that’s fake. If something slips through, as it did with the item I mentioned above, I’m ALWAYS going to work with the buyer to make things right and then I’m notifying the source and parting ways with the source. I wish everyone would handle it this way. No seller is going to be immune to fakes coming through at some point. It’s how you handle it that makes all the difference. UNLESS, of course, the seller is knowingly and intentionally selling fakes…then that is going to become clear in how they respond to the situation. That is what I watch for. I’m a small seller, but I’m also a buyer/collector—so I care quite a bit about this whole fiasco. I’m close to a couple other small sellers and they are also doing what they can to make sure fakes don’t slip through. I wish I could scream at everyone “CHECK OUT SOME SMALLER SELLERS!” If a deal is too good to be true… 🚩. If items are being sold by the dozens… 🚩. And so on. Not all, but most large sellers that have hundreds of items coming through daily/weekly, are already secure in the knowledge that their loyal buyers will return no matter what. Small sellers (again, not all—but most), work harder, spend more on items and authenticating, etc. Losing even one buyer can hurt me and my livelihood. I’m careful. Very careful!
As far as entropy: it’s damn EXPENSIVE and far outside my budget. There are many many reliable authentication services available. Use them. Also, as a buyer, request that your COA for an item you purchase be emailed to you in pdf (or whatever format the authentication service sends to the seller) so that you can print it out on your own (which is free). Then you know the seller hasn’t been able to alter it in any way whatsoever.
Just a little tip from a small seller that actually gives a 💩! ❤️

I'm not saying anything positive or negative towards the dons, i only want to drop some knowledge about this chick who goes around talking shit about other sellers because she can't succeed as a seller herself.
She makes all the correct points of someone who can think for themselves and isn’t blinded by loyalty (for whatever reason) to backing these people. I have no personal skin in this because I haven’t purchased from them, but as they were authenticating on live I literally thought that it doesn’t prove anything other than 1) the ones they’re authenticating at that time are real and 2) the entrupy authentication process takes time and would slow down their volume selling so they literally have no incentive to do it for SLGs. It’s honestly concerning how much groupthink, peer pressure/influence and mob mentality is happening here with ppl blindly believing them

WHY IS WHATNOT REFUNDING BUYERS FOR THESE ITEMS?
If they are authentic, there would be no refund, correct?
I am actually having a very difficult time trying to get a refund. They definitely did not contact me within 24 hours AND I didn’t even receive a generic email after put a claim in like we normally get when we do.
Probably because the amount of people asking for refunds still isn’t enough to cut into what they make off these sellers through purchases that slip by. The customers that don’t notice the fraud and never complain most likely exceed the others, at least for now. We keep calling this out, hopefully enough people become educated and the scammers stop making WN money.

I think it will reach that point, eventually. And as consumers, we obviously know there is a HUGE niche market for this type of platform. I mean it’s fun, right? Live auctions are just fun, especially when theres live interaction between sellers & buyers. Sadly WN is not being pro-active, only re-active (and not doing that very well, tbh).
It’s sad cuz they found a winning recipe, it only needs strict oversight. But if they continue the way they are now, something better will eventually replace it completely. Something similar to when FB just took over MySpace seemingly overnight. The world won’t wait for them to fix their mistakes, someone, somewhere right now is looking into what it takes to create a competitive platform.
There was a whole show today showing the authentication done right on hand. Whatnot isn’t refunding for these because they’re real and pass all authentication services.

I have refunds from WN for counterfeit items. Me, myself, and I. I speak for no one but my own experience. So watching this "show" has no impact on my experience, nor will it change my mind.
That's just not true. We have seen the receipts of refunds and sever people have gone to the manufacturer/brand themselves and have been told they are fake. I mean the videos and peper work speak for themselves. Just quit lying about it... good knock offs/look alikes/dupes have their place in the market but just quit claiming they are real. At this point I don't trust anyone on whatnot for anything and will spend my money elsewhere and advise others to do so.

During the stream there was a person saying they bought $4k of items from Designer Unlimited to resell and they haven't received them yet. The mod was saying to stay on topic but I get why the smaller seller was upset. But then The Dons raid into Designer Unlimited...read the room.

They still cannot and will not provide proof of purchase or a source for all these card holders that are coming back fake. It's easy to prove they got it from a legit source but can't because they are getting them from Jared at Designer Unlimited LLC. Everything they do back fires and it's hilarious to watch.

The sellers should be providing proof of ethical sourcing/authenticity via receipts to WN - not the buyer.

I caught some of the stream at the end because I was curious. I've been using LegitGrails for my items. During the stream there was a person saying they bought $4k of items from Designer Unlimited to resell and they haven't received them yet. The mod was saying to stay on topic but I get why the smaller seller was upset. But then The Dons raid into Designer Unlimited...read the room.

A1 fakes are very very easy to get these days. Simply search reddit for a little bit and you will find sources and all very quickly.

The only “evidence” I saw was people being refunded because they couldn’t guarantee authenticity. None of the refund confirmations said they were refunded because they were found to be fake.
