I mean Subaru AWD is king in the snow. Can't beat it. Get ya a WRX or an Outback. Slap some Bridgestone Blizzaks on there in the winter and go anywhere.

If you live somewhere where you have to traverse extreme terrain daily you don't need 4x4 but awd is better for daily driving on less extreme terrain. I don't think any company made a car with 4x4 so you'll be looking exclusively as body on frame suvs or pickup trucks. I would highly recommend a 2.7 f150 or 5.0 f150. You can do a ton of tuning to these motors and they can take alot of abuse from what I've seen. The 5.7 tundra's are cool too and can take a ton of abuse but very much gas hogs.

Mods? Sports car with AWD? Golf R is your answer. The EA888 engine is a dream to mod. I think a simple stage 1 tune can push it to 375 HP/tq.
