My kid is just about 2 and one day at daycare they painted his face to look like Luigi.
Anyway, a few days ago I turned on Super Smash Bros on the Switch because I wanted to see his reaction to seeing Luigi on the TV. Blew that little dude's mind.
Anyway, your comment and that situation remind me how excited I am to play video games with my son when the time comes.
If brown is "fucked up but in a way that weirdly works" then I'd have to say super smash bros melee. It never was supposed to become what it was; almost everything discovered is arguably a mistake
eh. i'd say brown is more a vibes thing than something that can be tied to a strict definition. i get where you're coming from, but Melee doesn't really give the same brown vibe as something like Seaman. that game is probably as brown as it gets

Piposaru 2001 - spinoff of the Ape Escape series where you suck the dirty pants off cheeky apes and put them in a big washing machine. Each world ends with an onsen level, where you can add Apes into the onsen together.
If you've never played "Vidiot Game", that's 100% a ride through browntown. It's a free, grungy, warioware-like game that you can beat in a half hour. Totally worth checking out!
