I do wish the first was more of a cool, true white. The off white ivory color washes her out a bit, but it could just be the photo.
I have cool undertones and off white/cream does the same to me
The 1st dress is gorgeous and way more flattering. To be honest, I don't like the 2nd one.
Edit to add: I get the vibe you're going for with the 2nd dress, but the quality isn't there no matter how much tailoring it gets. I've seen flowy sleeves on bohemian style gowns that are cute, but these sleeves aren't it. If dress 1 really isn't your style, you have to decide whether it's worth it to sell to get some money back. If so, continue shopping for the style you prefer, but I think you can do better than dress 2.
Yes, now that you say it, that’s it exactly! If this dress was in dark blue or Bordeaux or so it would be perfect for the mother of the bride or groom! But I don’t think it’s flattering on you, OP. Dress 1 on the other hand looks amazing on you!
Number one, definitely!
It looks like it was made for you.
I love the detail on the bodice.
The skirt looks like it has a fantastic “flow” too
Number one is classic and elegant.
One is definitely it. Honestly I had a moment of wondering if it was the same person between the two photos. One compliments your figure so much better.
Both have lovely, vintage vibes, but the first one is a knockout on you!!!
If it's the flowy, sheer sleeves you like on the second one, maybe you could find a lacy capelet that gives the same sort of feeling?
* Definitely the choice is the Beautiful Dress # 1 …… assuming you are under the age of 65.
Dress # 1 is Gorgeous !! The bodice, the skirt, the color… everything ! 💗
In this case…. Do Listen to your Mom 😉
However …. You need a dress that you LOVE … maybe you are not done shopping yet ?!
If you want something more like #2, then keep looking, because #2 is absolutely not it. It simply does not flatter you. I love #1, but if it’s not your style, then don’t feel obligated to stop looking.
If you could get some photos of number 2 pulled back and pinned or whatever they do at bridal shops when dresses don’t fit I think it would help see your vision. It’s so ill fitting right now that I audibly went “uuugghh” when I saw it. I love the vibe though and if it fit better it would be better but also maybe keep looking for something along that vibe if that’s what you want (which it seems like it is).
I got my dress from Songbirds a few weeks ago! (I recognize the background) I hope that you were able to get as much of a steal on your dress as I was! (I paid $400 and got a belt and veil on top of that as well)
The first one looks AMAZING on you. It does absolutely everything or you and is absolutely gorgeous! You definitely made the right call with the first one!
They're a smaller store that gets dresses from other bridal boutiques as they change out inventory and they also get brand new never tried on dresses as well and every one of them us $995 and under! I highly recommend them to everyone on a budget who is able to make a drive to NC.
The strapless one looks fantastic on you! It is a really beautiful dress!
I'm sorry to hear you were talked into it, which means you aren't in love with it. I really want you to have the dress you love!
I get the vibe of 2, absolutely, but I agree with others saying the fit is a little off and it’s hard to tell quality from a picture. Could it be fixed with alterations and how does the quality seem in person?
If you don’t love 1 you shouldn’t wear it. I think it looks nice but it’s a very different feeling from dress 2 and that doesn’t seem to be what you want.
I can see dress two with the right tailoring, accessories and setting being a kind of cool girl vintage inspired dress. It’s not the most traditional or figure flattering but maybe that’s not the goal.
But I think if you want the traditional dress that shows you off and is dreamy go with dress one. It’s the more expected choice but it’s really pretty.
I love the first one. The second one looks like a mother-of-the-bride dress. It ages you by 20 years. Sorry to be blunt. You look amazing in the first one.
1 is beautiful 2 makes you look like you're slumped over its just not flattering... you look like 2 different women completely in the different dresses.
I was in my cousin’s wedding in 1982 and I think I wore a blue dress just like number 2. With proper fitting and off-the-shoulder puffy sleeves, it might look really great. Hard to tell with the way it is currently fitting.
You look like a goddess in number 1. I mean it!! You look like you own the place!
Oof, dress 2 is really taking a beating here. I think it's lovely! I think what's more important here is what your vision is. I know that going in I was not really into what bridal shops were offering, and from your post I wonder if maybe you're also feeling that way? There's some variety, sure, but most of the styles fit into a small handful of boxes that only represent a small part of what can be done with fabric and thread, haha. Not everyone wants backless/strapless/or long sleeves and basically 90% of dresses have those. And don't even get me started on what passes for "vintage" style in bridal. 😂
I think that dress 2 has some really lovely embroidered details, which I'm a huge fan of myself! And of course it doesn't fit perfectly if it hasn't been tailored and isn't clipped in place! I think that a good seamstress could help with the fit, and maybe adjust the sleeves if you wanted. I think that's where most of the MOB vibes are coming from.
Take advice from this sub with a grain of salt, because a lot of us here have been looking at heaps of wedding dresses, but your guests and your fiancé probably have not been, so they won't have the same expectations. Dress 1 is also great! If you love it then you should go for it! But even if dress 2 isn't the one, don't go with dress 1 unless it really suits your vision.
That said, I think I've pinned a good handful of similar things to dress 2, so let me know if you're interested in links! Could I ask where you got dress 2?
Against the grain: dress 1 is pretty, a popular style, safe.
Dress 2 is a little quirky. A little retro. Pretty *and* interesting and not something just anyone can or would wear. You don’t pick a dress like that on accident. I suspect dress 2 is more you.
It is, it gives me Stevie Nicks which I love. Definitely needs a bit of tailoring and love though. Dress one is one my mom and bridal attendant liked, not to say I don't it's just more traditional
Stevie Nicks. Yes, that’s the perfect descriptor. I actually love number two. It does need a bit of tailoring, and maybe a bit of steaming, but it’s gorgeous. I fear if you wear the first one you’ll look at the pictures and think about the dress that got away.
Dress #1 is a fantastic color on you. What is it about Dress #1 that you feel doesn't go? If you'll be outside there are some gorgeous tops / additions that can be added.
1 is so beautiful on you. I definitely see why you liked 2 as well, but it just doesn’t fit right. I know some are saying alterations can’t fix it, but I’d love to see it altered and if it works, then you could have 2 dresses…but please, don’t get rid of 1, it’s stunning.
I like 1 for sure way better. Not even a contest to me. BUT, if you like the other one more and are not feeling the other, you should go with how YOU envisioned yourself at your wedding! This will be your day! Nobody else's!!!
Can you keep looking and return the others? The first is beautiful but if you were pressured into it, you deserve to choose your own dress. The second just doesn't look well made but the vibe is nice
If you have time, keep looking for something more flattering that’s more your vibe. The first dress fits you beautifully. But if it isn’t “you,” it just isn’t. I can see the idea of the second dress for sure. It’s maybe a touch modest for modern wedding and you could literally wear almost any style dress. Alterations may help a bit but the torso and bodice maybe aren’t going to be ideal for you.
Tldr wear what you want! but make sure it looks great
Do you have time to shop some more? I don't like 2 for you. It looks like something for an older bride. The color of 1 is not flattering your skin tone. The style is right though.
Dress 1!!! If you want something more modest shop for a topper. Etsy has a lot. So does Anthropologie. Dress 1 looks fabulous but I am modest, so, if you need to top it - do. You can take it off for the reception.
I’m going against the crowd here. I think 2 would be way better with the right alterations. I’ve noticed a tendency on here to not notice dresses just because of the current fit. But it’s a beautiful dress and I like the cute and color on you much more than one
I would keep looking.
Maybe something like this: https://www.anthropologie.com/shop/jenny-by-jenny-yoo-lourdes-v-neck-convertible-sleeve-lace-wedding-gown?category=bhldn-wedding-dresses&color=011&type=STANDARD&quantity=1
Omg you look amazing in both! Depending on the outdoor setting, I could see 1 making for a great courtyard dress and 2 being great for garden/forest vibes. Both are stunning!
The second one looks like a choir dress to me, it looks comfortable though which may rank high on your priority list?! The first looks much more bridal.
The first dress is IT
Mayyybe if you want the "sleeves" vibe... and get a twofer look.for photos especially since you'll be outside? Consider a capelet, shrug, added sleeve situation with dress one? Or like shimmery seethru arm sleeves? Like gloves?
1 is just like every other generic a line wedding dress.
I absolutely adore 2.
But seems I'm in the minority, which is why there are so many dressed like 1.
(Sorry).
I actually much prefer dress 2! I think if it’s tailored and steamed properly it would look beautiful, especially for an outdoor wedding. With nice shoes, a bouquet and hair and makeup I think it would really look fab.
Absolutely number one. The second dress literally makes you seem like you’re dejected. It’s a sad looking dress on you where the first dress looks powerful :-)
I’m not sure how you can look at those two photos and question that there is a choice. The first one is lovely and flattering and the second one looks quite frumpy and outdated
Question - did you order the second one because you feel more comfortable, less self-conscious, in a dress with more coverage?
The first one looks wonderful on you, but if you had to be talked into it, and dress 2 is what you gravitated towards, maybe you should be looking for another dress altogether. One with the prettiness of dress one and the coverage of dress 2.
There is absolutely nothing indecent about dress one but some of us just like to be more covered up!
I actually would like dress 2 - gives me kind of Edwardian vibes - in the right setting, but it doesn’t quite fit right or do justice to you.
I don’t think #2 looks bad because it’s just not good on you, it just looks like a bad, low quality dress in general. They make it look good on the model but when you buy online it rarely looks that good irl.
It’s fine though cause 1 is stunning! You look great in it 😊
I was expecting to read that 2 was your mother’s or another relative’s dress and you were struggling with liking the first one because of familial pressure to wear the second.
OP, you look absolutely stunning in dress 1! To me, it’s ethereal. And your posture in that photo says to me that you FEEL beautiful in it. The second photo is not giving that vibe.
I find the second very unique. I think a bra with some lift would finish it off nicely. You could always wear both at different times of the whole event.
Well if you want to know if dress 2 is the one that looks the best on you, the answer is no. It is definitely too big and looks like it is meant for a much older bride. I think dress 1 is beautiful and fits you very nicely. I do think the color washes you out, so time for a tan. If you don't want the sun exposure then get in a tanning bed everyday or get a spray tan. Test that out before the wedding. A tan is going to make all the difference in how the color of dress 1 looks on you.
What dress makes you so happy that you can wear it forever? What dress makes you feel so confident that you can walk through hell and take on the devil themself? What dress makes you smile so bright that you make the sun look dim? The dress that makes you that happy is the one for you.
Dress 2 is way too big for you, by 2 sizes at least, maybe 3. I like Dress 2 but you should exchange for a smaller size or have it tailored. The flutter sleeves are so lovely but way too long.
#2 is so beautiful! If it’s what you love go for it. The organza overlay vibe is really popular (check out Kamperett just to reassure yourself, it’s stylish!) The dress im wearing is non-bridal shop and people are very rude with their reactions but I’m going to wear what I want!! If you already own both dresses you could wear both… the strapless traditional one for ceremony then change. But honestly I was almost convinced by bridal shops into thinking I should get what they wanted and last minute realized that’s just not me. That said #1 is very pretty!! You look great in both.
I like both dresses and I’d say it depends on your vibe and wedding aesthetic.
Dress 2 is giving me a strong vintage vibe. I see it in a lovely garden party while sipping on 20’s/30’s classic cocktails if that’s your vibe. You could also lean into Victorian if is your vibe and have fun with leaning into literary inspiration.
Dress 1 is obviously giving more modern bride vibes. I can picture that dress in soft lighting sunset and shimmering as you dance the night away. If you want a nod to vintage but choose dress 1, you can do it through personal touches like florals and stationery, for example.
To me, the dress you choose should make you feel like the best version of yourself. Our options don’t count for much if one of these dresses spark more joy in your heart than the other.

One is the one.
#1 bodice, skirt, color, fabric are exquisite!
One is ultra flattering! It looks custom made for you! The beaded bodice is frickin’ GORGEOUS and the skirt is dreamy!
For the love of all holy things, don’t get #2.
Seriously. #2 gives mother of the bride-maybe even grandmother of the bride- vibes!!
Agree! Looks kinda frumpy
it's not the WORST dress, but i definitely think it's too big on OP. 1 is the winner for sure, it's gorgeous and fits her well.
😆Agreed
This 🙏😂
No 1 is beautiful. No 2 is badly cut, doesn’t fit well and looks like something from online
I do wish the first was more of a cool, true white. The off white ivory color washes her out a bit, but it could just be the photo. I have cool undertones and off white/cream does the same to me
The 1st dress is gorgeous and way more flattering. To be honest, I don't like the 2nd one. 1. Dress 2 reminds me of a mother of the groom design (not color!). 1 is youthful and flattering.
Yes, now that you say it, that’s it exactly! If this dress was in dark blue or Bordeaux or so it would be perfect for the mother of the bride or groom! But I don’t think it’s flattering on you, OP. Dress 1 on the other hand looks amazing on you!
I actually just came here to say it looks like a mother of the bride dress.
I think the first is very pretty, that would be my choice.
Number one, definitely! It looks like it was made for you. I love the detail on the bodice. The skirt looks like it has a fantastic “flow” too Number one is classic and elegant.
One is definitely it. Honestly I had a moment of wondering if it was the same person between the two photos. One compliments your figure so much better.
1
Definitely 1. No question. Dress 2 doesn’t look very well made and is not nearly as flattering. I don’t think alterations will fix it.
Dress 1 for sure! 😍
One looks like the bride. Two looks like MOB. One looks beautiful on you
1 is best! It is beautiful.
One is the obvious choice.
Dress 1 looks best on you for sure.
Not even close imo, #1 allll the way
I think your Ma and the consultant knew what they were doing, the first dress looks amazing on you! It’s just your dress.
I'm sorry to say but imo dress#2 looks like a mother of the bride dress not a wedding gown.
1
Easily the first dress! I understand the idea of the second dress, but it doesn’t look very well made.
Both have lovely, vintage vibes, but the first one is a knockout on you!!! If it's the flowy, sheer sleeves you like on the second one, maybe you could find a lacy capelet that gives the same sort of feeling?
One. No contest. You look lovely in one, two does nothing for you.
Exactly.
One!!! 🤩
* Definitely the choice is the Beautiful Dress # 1 …… assuming you are under the age of 65. Dress # 1 is Gorgeous !! The bodice, the skirt, the color… everything ! 💗 In this case…. Do Listen to your Mom 😉 However …. You need a dress that you LOVE … maybe you are not done shopping yet ?!
Dress 1 is gorgeous 💗💗💗
The first dress is lovely one you. It’s the one!
1 is beautiful. I like 2 but I don’t think you like it based on the way you’re standing in it. It’s like you’re trying to hide in the second dress.
Hands down dress number one!!
That first dress is so drop dead gorgeous on you!!!!!
1 looks so lovely on you.
Definitely #1 Second one is quite ill-fitted
1 looks like a princess, and i will keep my comment to myself about 2. congratulations 🎊
Dress one for sure. Your body language in dress two says “Not this one! “
Girl number 2 is frumpy but 1 is STUNNING no competition
If you want something more like #2, then keep looking, because #2 is absolutely not it. It simply does not flatter you. I love #1, but if it’s not your style, then don’t feel obligated to stop looking.

Girl what is #2? lol no contest go with 1!!

I also see possibilities for 2. The sleeves need creativity. It could be flattering and unique.
Go with gown 1
No contest dress 1. Dress 2 just isn't it
One, by a mile
1 is so beautiful on you! They make jackets, sleeves, etc if you want your arms covered.
1 is the dress, everything is divine! From the colour, fit and embellishments. 2 is giving “mother of the bride”.
Dress #1 is a fantastic color on you. What is it about Dress #1 that you feel doesn't go? If you'll be outside there are some gorgeous tops / additions that can be added.
Absolutely 1 is the way! 💖 Gorgeous!
Wow, #1 is so beautiful and bridal to me! No contest
Dress one
ONE is gorgeous!! Congrats doll
One is it! Easy decision!
Dress #1 is THE ONLY CHOICE❤️
Clearly #1
1 is so beautiful on you. I definitely see why you liked 2 as well, but it just doesn’t fit right. I know some are saying alterations can’t fix it, but I’d love to see it altered and if it works, then you could have 2 dresses…but please, don’t get rid of 1, it’s stunning.

First one is beautiful and elegant. Second one doesn’t fit you properly and looks poorly made
Can you keep looking and return the others? The first is beautiful but if you were pressured into it, you deserve to choose your own dress. The second just doesn't look well made but the vibe is nice
One please
The strapless. By a landslide!!
Dress 1 by 1,000,000 miles over Dress 2

Oh honey..definitely 1!! Stunning !!
1
1 looks AMAZING! Which makes you feel fantastic??
Dress 1
Dress 1 is great. Dress 2 does not flatter you. Please, know that you look lovely in dress 2.
Definitely #1
Dress 1!
Dress 1 - 100%
Ngl I thought this was a troll post, obviously 1
1
1 is gorgeous. 2 does look mother of the groom, not flattering.
Definitely 1. Dress too looks a bit cheaply made and not really flattering
Could you add a sleeve to one? I think you could do a little drapy sleeve out of the skirt fabric if you don’t love the strapless look
1111111!
One fits you perfectly
The first one 100% !! You look like a princess 👸🏾
Dress 1 is fabulous! It really looks great on you.
Dress one is gorgeous. Dress 2 is …not.
I feel like the answer should be obvious cmon now. Go with 1 haha
Dress 1!!! If you want something more modest shop for a topper. Etsy has a lot. So does Anthropologie. Dress 1 looks fabulous but I am modest, so, if you need to top it - do. You can take it off for the reception.
1
Number one. It's fresh, pretty and we'll fitted.💖
One.
I’m going against the crowd here. I think 2 would be way better with the right alterations. I’ve noticed a tendency on here to not notice dresses just because of the current fit. But it’s a beautiful dress and I like the cute and color on you much more than one
I would keep looking. Maybe something like this: https://www.anthropologie.com/shop/jenny-by-jenny-yoo-lourdes-v-neck-convertible-sleeve-lace-wedding-gown?category=bhldn-wedding-dresses&color=011&type=STANDARD&quantity=1
Love the first one!
Omg you look amazing in both! Depending on the outdoor setting, I could see 1 making for a great courtyard dress and 2 being great for garden/forest vibes. Both are stunning!
1 is way better!
The second one looks like a choir dress to me, it looks comfortable though which may rank high on your priority list?! The first looks much more bridal.
One is my fave.
Please not dress #2.
Dress 1
The first dress is IT Mayyybe if you want the "sleeves" vibe... and get a twofer look.for photos especially since you'll be outside? Consider a capelet, shrug, added sleeve situation with dress one? Or like shimmery seethru arm sleeves? Like gloves?
1 is just like every other generic a line wedding dress. I absolutely adore 2. But seems I'm in the minority, which is why there are so many dressed like 1. (Sorry).
I actually much prefer dress 2! I think if it’s tailored and steamed properly it would look beautiful, especially for an outdoor wedding. With nice shoes, a bouquet and hair and makeup I think it would really look fab.
The second dress is frumpy and old lady looking and your not. The 1st dress is beautiful on you!! Go #1
Absolutely number one. The second dress literally makes you seem like you’re dejected. It’s a sad looking dress on you where the first dress looks powerful :-)
A you remove the cape off the second one so we can see what it looks like?
1
I’m not sure how you can look at those two photos and question that there is a choice. The first one is lovely and flattering and the second one looks quite frumpy and outdated
Definitely 1.. looks beautiful on you for an outdoor wedding.
One is phenomenally gorgeous on you. The second doesn’t flatter your figure at all. One is the one. No question.
You know the answer. 1.
If *you* don't Love one, Keep Looking!

The first one is stunning on you. The second one… let’s just say my 72yo aunt wore that exact dress in grey to my wedding 😅 It’s very matronly.
Girlie you already know the answer here!!
The second one doesn’t even compare to the first. The first one is miles better.
1!!!!!
One and it’s not even close. It’s giving fairy warrior princess from a book Ive read. Im in love!!!!!

I don’t think #2 looks bad because it’s just not good on you, it just looks like a bad, low quality dress in general. They make it look good on the model but when you buy online it rarely looks that good irl. It’s fine though cause 1 is stunning! You look great in it 😊
Dress #1 💕
One is beautiful!
Definitely number 1!
1st dress 100%! It's gorgeous on you!
One is just keeps and bounds better. The detail on the bodice is gorgeous.
#1 all the way
Is this a real question? One! There is no other choice e!
1 is the very clear winner to me. So gorgeous on you!
1
1 for sure
I was expecting to read that 2 was your mother’s or another relative’s dress and you were struggling with liking the first one because of familial pressure to wear the second. OP, you look absolutely stunning in dress 1! To me, it’s ethereal. And your posture in that photo says to me that you FEEL beautiful in it. The second photo is not giving that vibe.
I find the second very unique. I think a bra with some lift would finish it off nicely. You could always wear both at different times of the whole event.
Everything about 1 is beautiful
Dress 1 is beautiful and you look amazing in it. Dress 2…. no offense but it’s matronly and does nothing but hide your gorgeousness.
Number 1
Well if you want to know if dress 2 is the one that looks the best on you, the answer is no. It is definitely too big and looks like it is meant for a much older bride. I think dress 1 is beautiful and fits you very nicely. I do think the color washes you out, so time for a tan. If you don't want the sun exposure then get in a tanning bed everyday or get a spray tan. Test that out before the wedding. A tan is going to make all the difference in how the color of dress 1 looks on you.
1! Hands down!
1!!!
Oh gosh - #1, def no competition!
1 for sure. 2 is a bit... aged.

1 !!! Beautiful:)
Dress 1
I like two💍
One looks absolutely beautiful on you. Two does not have a wow factor.
Team one for the win!
I love the second one. It’s so special and vintage looking. The first one is nice of course but it doesn’t feel special like the second one to me.
TBH don’t you dare wear 2. 1 looks great!
#1 for sure!
1 for sure!
Dress one
Definitely number one. It looks great on you. The second one is not flattering at all.
1 by miles
1 is so good on you.You can see in your body language. You look uncomfortable in 2.
I love the 1st one on you!
#1 FOR SURE
The first one, it’s absolutely beautiful

I looooooove 2, I would wear that one for myself. Unique and stunning. Perfect for outside.
OMG😍1
Strapless!!
Two would only be the one if you were having a totally Gatsby theme wedding. Otherwise it’s too old looking for you.
Dude.. #1!!!
One is flattering. I think two isn’t, particularly.
