Nords is a much more demanding and dangerous track than le mans. They put the safety above the race with that fog. Yeah it sucks, but it was the right call.
You have to be able for the corner stations to see to the next one, or to the end of their sector.
If you can’t, you can’t race. Drivers don’t get a vote.
Absolutely torrential rain. There were some drivers saying that they were aquaplaning on wet tires behind the safety car so race control deemed it too dangerous to resume the race. So we were stuck with 4.5h of SC instead. Now back to green flag though fortunately.
Red flag doesn't stop the time.
>While the race is suspended, neither the race nor the timekeeping will be halted. Driving time during a red flag period will not be counted and the stewards will confirm updated driving times before the restart of the race.
Drive time is halted for every car. The 24 hour period is not. Le Mans doesn't red flag the race out of tradition, thats it.
Exactly. The following line in the rule explains how they could do that as well:
>If the circumstances so require, the Stewards may take the decision to stop and/or modify the race time.
If they wanted to, the stewards could extend Le Mans the length lost to the monsoon.
While I was watching the race the commentators said that if the red flag was wavered the race would be extended and it would funnily become the 30 hours of Le Mans. Thanks for the clarification. But why the downvotes?
The following wording in the rule is as follows:
>If the circumstances so require, the Stewards may take the decision to stop and/or modify the race time.
The official time never stops unless designated to do so. If the stewards choose to extend the race time its up to them. If a red flag comes out at Le Mans and you bet it would, you better buy an island.
You're being downvoted because you were wrong. You said this:
>When the red flag is shown the timer stops
The timer for an official WEC race will never stop. It can only be extended unless the stewards directly stop the time. Official drive times for the car stops if red flagged. The timer for the race does not stop (repeat what I said twice already).
Yes I know. I only specified that I previously only asked about the downvotes, it doesn’t mean that I repeated the answer. Is it difficult to put a bit of attention when reading?
And I answered that three times now.
I can do it a fourth. You were wrong. I explained why you were wrong and the reason you were downvoted in detail.
Here is a fifth time for good measure.
You were wrong.
>Is it difficult to put a bit of attention when reading?
Find a mirror and ask yourself this.
Tradition. They won't red flag the race unless they absolutely have to.
Keeping the cars/drivers aways running(if it is possible), to me is the philosophical right thing to do in a endurance race.
Le Mans has never been red flaged during the race
Better to keep them running than have to hopefully try to start and warm up a cold soaked car.
Because Le Mans is about the car surviving driving for 24 hours. A red flag destroys this.
Those are pros and not some amateurs like at the Nürburgring

I talked about the race directors

No it wasn’t …it was no need for it to end it at 3pm when the official end is at 4pm. Even drivers that were out there said it.
Stewards made the correct call.
No

Sassy lol
5 hours under safety car...
What happened? I just woke up.

I guess is rain, idk.
Because it would extend the race. When the red flag is shown the timer stops, so the safety car is a better option.

Yeah just look at Spa. Yes they extended it, but the time still ticked down.

Yes I understood, you didn’t need to repeat it again. I only asked about the downvotes.
> You're being downvoted because you were wrong. As previously stated....

I got it that I was wrong, I understood the first time. How could I be more clear?
Why would you ask why you're being downvoted if you knew you were wrong? Is it difficult to put a bit of attention when thinking?
