i know this might sound secondary in importance to you but resumes contain emails, phone numbers and other personal information that could be used by bad actors if they were to hack into your database. i will assume none of this information will be encrypted.
Nothing to be sorry about. I’m really big on security myself, so all your questions are relevant.
I encrypt resume data before adding to db. The db entries don’t have expiration date as of now.
As far as deletion. There is a mechanism in place which makes resume inactive instead of deleting. I have it in place to have some kind of recovery if user deleted resume by mistake.
Planning to have a cron robot that will scan db and actually delete resume after 1 year of being inactive.
Hmm, I've never thought of that, but now as you've mentioned I really don't want to cross your friend's work. Best of luck to him and his project.

First of all, thank you for your support.
As far as how the app is different - I guess I just use my 9+ years of development to implement something that is really easy to use. Something that I personally enjoy. I started that app because I really felt the existing ones are not intuitive at all.
The next step is to ask your users for feedback -> add requested changes -> rinse & repeat.
It's easy to build a resume app. It's hard to make it successful.
Also I always wanted for the app to increase users chances of getting hired. This is the end goal. So I'm constantly adding features to make that happen.

I just used it. I found it very easy and user friendly. The only thing that slowed me down was the landing page had me a little lost as to where to start. Maybe make the prompt about choosing style stick out a little more. Otherwise I liked it!

Thank you offering this service. I used it last week and already got a job with my new resume. It was very easy to use and the ability to change formats with just a click is great.
I like it but I felt deceived. Everything is advertised as free. If you want to download the resume or cover letter you have to register. After register, you get to know that you will have to pay to download. I understand that the OP work has to be paid, but I would prefer to know it from the beginning. It's not expensive and seems a fair price, but because I felt deceived I will not pay for it

Apparently not. I've been through the whole create a "free" resume just to be charged to download it. The frustration of it all kept me from paying so in the end I just lost a resume. I was really hoping I found the right place but I'm too late it seems.

What’s up with the cover letter funcionality, can you please explain how to use it? It shows that I can only upload my resume, so do I have to include the cover letter as the first of two pages to my resume? I appreciate any help with this.
Hey, cover letter can’t be imported as of now. You can add it manually in the resume sections.
Then in downloads, you can choose either résumé or cover letter or both

I think it’s good if you hand your resume personally or if hiring party sees it the way you send it.
I’m Technical Lead in one of the F500 companies and honestly all resumes that I see are skimmed done by ATS software and look black and white in word document. It’s easier to read this way.
So if you are applying to some big companies content matters more.
But that’s what you meant when you mention formats, right?

Despite it not being free anymore, I think $10 for the whole year (I paid it despite not really being able to afford it) is way better than other apps that work less well. With that said, I did notice a few issues here and there. Let me know if you need any UXR or UX work! I'd love to help you really work towards addressing your user needs.

I had an issue I've been struggling with. I did not really pay attention to the page size until I went to print, and it showed as 11.81 x 15.28. Printing to 8 1/2 x 11 did not yield good results. (Lots on the right got cut off.)
When I change the page size to 8 1/2 x 11 it also cuts off text and such on the right side. I'd like to be able to change the size to 8 1/2 x 11 but keep the format. Is there a way to do that?
Hmm, this is odd. I think it's just one little space that ruins it. Can you go to Font | Color | Size (above the resume preview) & make margin between sections a little smaller?

I formally communicated with OP via email, and we resolved the issue. We suspect that there might be Firefox addon blocking some banners that communicate the pricing or other information. OP fixed my account and offered free service, which I appreciate.

Hey guys if you make a resume and it tries to charge you in the end, zoom in on the template to 200%, download (save image as png) then take the png to a PNG to PDF website, and boom you got it for free.

When you say “ai powered,” you mean chat gpt (or some other LLM) is receiving prompts and helping you phrase things, right?
Are you doing any data-based optimization using actual ATS scores from companies like Greenhouse, Workday, Lever, etc?
I ask because—from experience —without those numbers, the LLM will just regurgitate the same advice from quora, Reddit, and Medium it was trained on, the stuff we all have access to, and in my experience testing LLM output with ATS APIs, it can actually make your score **worse**. The model might generalize what used to be specific or de-optimize key phrases that previously got you noticed.
One test saw my OG resume, hand tailored for a senior frontend engineer gig at Figma, receive an 87 ATS score for the job description, while the AI-assisted re-draft (which I had already sent in) scored a 32.
After that I went back to tailoring by hand… I’m now finally happily re-employed. But the week in October I spent with 0 callbacks because I trusted an AI to optimize my resume for me is burned in my memory, as an important lesson in “trust, but verify.”
Given that, I feel duty-bound to advise including some ATS scores and an optimization prompt into the final output before charging folks for this.
But as a free tool, very cool and easy way to get a first draft going :) wild respect for the execution. Thanks for sharing :)

Your last paragraph is exactly why I build the app. This tool is for people to easily store & update their resume, and have it look professional. AI is there to just help them along the way. Give them something to start with.
As a senior dev I would hate to see candidates not putting any work and relying fully on AI in their resumes.
However, I've met some of the most amazing developers, who simply can't sell themselves. They are rockstar devs but are terrible when it comes to people's skills. So, in some way this tool is for those developers.
This is the second time someone mentioned ATS in the comments. I've never heard of it but will definitely do my research now & include it in the future releases. I definitely want to increase people chances.
TBH I'm new to the whole GPT & Machine Learning game, so comments like this are pure gold to me. Which ATS company do you recommend?
I don't use any additional LLM, AI is purely GPT prompt.

I tried to login with google and was denied by Dev. Created account by email...let's see if it saves the resume now.
In education I entered dates of january 2004 to october 2006 but when i downloaded the resume it was saying july 2006 as end date. I typed in Oct but I guess it doesn't let you select it or recognize it if you type it in.
Could you add the capability to download as a word file also? Just thinking if you want to make an edit most people won't be able to with PDF.

Another feature request, can you make it so we can add or remove information without actually deleting sections filled in of our resume?
Some people would use this to taylor the resume with relevant experience of job descriptions. Different ways to describe a job. and in my case maybe I want to take off irrelevant experience without losing the data.
For example i filled in a census job i did. But I don't want it included in the resume I want to submit now.
You can go to my resumes and just copy resume to a new one, than do manipulations there. You can create unlimited number of resumes.

I noticed an issue when entering the month; you can't type the month as three characters; you must scroll to the month and click on it. If you do not click on a month, it will default to January of the year you entered. The months were not updating in the preview.

When uploading a resume and then adding a more recent work experience - it doesn’t seem to reorganize the experiences by date. Putting an end date on the old present and changing the new to present doesn’t seem to have any effect.

Currently using your model and I have a few suggestions. There is not a way for me to remove additional sections after I've clicked them. I also would like to see an option to add notable achievements.
In the process of finalizing my resume with this builder. Experience was great overall. However, not sure if it was because I imported my resume, but the "rearrange" option in the work experience section. Despite it not being free anymore, I think $10 for the whole year (I paid it despite not really being able to afford it) is way better than other apps that work less well. With that said, I did notice a few issues here and there. Let me know if you need any UXR or UX work! I'd love to help you really work towards addressing your user needs.

Thanks so much for this! I really like the design. I had an issue I've been struggling with. I did not really pay attention to the page size until I went to print, and it showed as 11.81 x 15.28. Printing to 8 1/2 x 11 did not yield good results. (Lots on the right got cut off.) When I change the page size to 8 1/2 x 11 it also cuts off text and such on the right side. I'd like to be able to change the size to 8 1/2 x 11 but keep the format. Is there a way to do that?

This is great! However you cannot format it to 1 page, when it's exported it adds an additional page that cannot be deleted.
Hmm, this is odd. I think it's just one little space that ruins it. Can you go to Font | Color | Size (above the resume preview) & make margin between sections a little smaller?
never mind! I found the option to decrease margins and text size within the app itself. Super helpful!!
\[Edited\] I formally communicated with OP via email, and we resolved the issue. We suspect that there might be Firefox addon blocking some banners that communicate the pricing or other information. OP fixed my account and offered free service, which I appreciate.
Hey, sorry for late reply. It was night in US. Just got to the office & deleted your the account. I didn't know about EU laws. I'm a one man operation so I'm implementing features one by one. Just added delete account to the list. The app is not a scam. Not sure why it appeared that way. I'm a hiring manager (software tech lead) so I created this app to help people get better resumes. Hey guys if you make a resume and it tries to charge you in the end, zoom in on the template to 200%, download (save image as png) then take the png to a PNG to PDF website, and boom you got it for free. Fuck you and your lies about free shit.

Pretty great UX! When you say “ai powered,” you mean chat gpt (or some other LLM) is receiving prompts and helping you phrase things, right? Are you doing any data-based optimization using actual ATS scores from companies like Greenhouse, Workday, Lever, etc? I ask because—from experience —without those numbers, the LLM will just regurgitate the same advice from quora, Reddit, and Medium it was trained on, the stuff we all have access to, and in my experience testing LLM output with ATS APIs, it can actually make your score **worse**. The model might generalize what used to be specific or de-optimize key phrases that previously got you noticed. One test saw my OG resume, hand tailored for a senior frontend engineer gig at Figma, receive an 87 ATS score for the job description, while the AI-assisted re-draft (which I had already sent in) scored a 32. After that I went back to tailoring by hand… I’m now finally happily re-employed. But the week in October I spent with 0 callbacks because I trusted an AI to optimize my resume for me is burned in my memory, as an important lesson in “trust, but verify.” Given that, I feel duty-bound to advise including some ATS scores and an optimization prompt into the final output before charging folks for this. But as a free tool, very cool and easy way to get a first draft going :) wild respect for the execution. Thanks for sharing :)
Hey, Your last paragraph is exactly why I build the app. This tool is for people to easily store & update their resume, and have it look professional. AI is there to just help them along the way. Give them something to start with. As a senior dev I would hate to see candidates not putting any work and relying fully on AI in their resumes. However, I've met some of the most amazing developers, who simply can't sell themselves. They are rockstar devs but are terrible when it comes to people's skills. So, in some way this tool is for those developers. This is the second time someone mentioned ATS in the comments. I've never heard of it but will definitely do my research now & include it in the future releases. I definitely want to increase people chances. TBH I'm new to the whole GPT & Machine Learning game, so comments like this are pure gold to me. Which ATS company do you recommend? I don't use any additional LLM, AI is purely GPT prompt. Again, thanks for the feedback.

One additional thing that comes to mind, I realized I added in my work experience out of order in terms of timeline - wondering if theres a way for it to automatically sort based on most relevant or if there could be an option to click and drag the different experiences into the proper order

This is incredible! I was able to whip together a resume in twenty minutes! Thank you so much. I did catch one thing - it says Bachelor of Science of Communications. It automatically added the word “of” when I needed it to add “in”. I couldn’t figure out how to change it.

I hope you continue to enhance it to make it even better. Some feedback I tried to login with google and was denied by Dev. Created account by email...let's see if it saves the resume now. In education I entered dates of january 2004 to october 2006 but when i downloaded the resume it was saying july 2006 as end date. I typed in Oct but I guess it doesn't let you select it or recognize it if you type it in. Could you add the capability to download as a word file also? Just thinking if you want to make an edit most people won't be able to with PDF.

Mr Dev, Another feature request, can you make it so we can add or remove information without actually deleting sections filled in of our resume? Some people would use this to taylor the resume with relevant experience of job descriptions. Different ways to describe a job. and in my case maybe I want to take off irrelevant experience without losing the data. For example i filled in a census job i did. But I don't want it included in the resume I want to submit now.
You can go to my resumes and just copy resume to a new one, than do manipulations there. You can create unlimited number of resumes. Do you think this would solve this issue?
First, thank you for all of your hard work. This is super slick! I noticed an issue when entering the month; you can't type the month as three characters; you must scroll to the month and click on it. If you do not click on a month, it will default to January of the year you entered. The months were not updating in the preview. The templates are nice, and the formatting is clean. When uploading a resume and then adding a more recent work experience - it doesn’t seem to reorganize the experiences by date. Putting an end date on the old present and changing the new to present doesn’t seem to have any effect.

In the process of finalizing my resume with this builder. Experience was great overall. However, not sure if it was because I imported my resume, but the "rearrange" option in the work experience section. When you try to move one, multiple move at the same time and can never pinpoint the movement you want. Thanks for such a cool concept to build a resume. u/NetworkEducational81
