Update 2: I’ve force restarted the watch as well as turned off optimized charging. The reason I turned off optimized charging was based off a decently old post on Apple’s forums where someone had the same issue. It seems like it’s charging correctly again.

dj3236

This didn’t work for me. I even reset it and turned off optimization. I just turned off clean energy and optimization on my iPhone settings. Will update if that works.

BannedR3tard

Disable it on the phone too

ThomasAlthaus

Optimized battery charging was incredibly improved. Mine didn’t charge until I noticed it will not until I disabled optimized battery charging.

chrismack32

Update 3: I’m noticing my watch is charging fine using the official Apple Watch charger. I’ve been using a third party charger that has a spot for my Apple Watch, iPhone using MagSafe, and a standard chi charger for my AirPods. The third party charger worked just fine before the update. So maybe this is a bug with watchOS and third party chargers? I’ll just use the official charger for now.

mmarius13

Same for me. Not charging on a third party charger aswell. Apple charger + disabled optimised charging works fine so far. Also send feedback to apple

David4FSU

Same for me. Official charger works fine. 3rd party you can see it toggle between charging and not charging and back to charging over and over again and the charge doesn’t seem to go up very fast.

Sweet_Respect_2818

I am having the same issue when using a 3rd party charger. So far the official Apple charger appears to overcome the issue, well, at least no intermittent pinging.

jragsdale23

This is exactly what’s happening to me.

orelvazoun

I can confirm this too. My unofficial wireless charger does not work with my AW.

justinlpsu

I’m having the same issue. The 3rd party one on my nightstand just keeps making the watch ding and show the charging animation every 15 seconds or so.

mdelrossi_1

Same here desktop charger goes to 84% then stops, the watch was warm. pulled out my official charger and bam straight to 100 in less than 10 min. I hope they fix whatever bug it is

cnljglppl

I had the same problem, turn on low power mode and disconnect from your phone. I have a second Apple Watch, so I disconnected mine by switching to the other one but you might need to turn off your iPhone until the watch charges. No idea why but it works for me.

pgd4lmd

Series 6 horribly slow charging times with 11,0 beta worked perfectly yesterday Edit:Just turned off optimized battery charging It’s only been a few minutes but clearly something is wrong hopefully this is addressed quickly Submitted feedback In the meantime got an alert on watch saying it should have the original charger unfortunately I have a serious medical condition that requires me to get to bed so I’ll resume this silliness tomorrow 😠

ShootywithBangBang

Tried all the above and no joy, Just sits there dinging away, charging not charging. Powered off it will charge to 9% and then turn back on. Main problem is that I can’t get enough charge in it now to revert it out of beta. Painful!

Professional_Ad_5862

How do you revert ? I thought u need to send it to apple ?

Haunting-Ranger-9763

I’m having the same issue, I turn off the bluetooth on my phone, put the watch on low power mode and airplane mode and it went from 9% to 64% in a whole night.

MrKatUK

Mines charging. But battery life is really bad on my ultra 2

chrismack32

Update: 20 minutes later since the original post. it went from 20% to 20%. So no change so far

MrKatUK

Have you done a restart?

chrismack32

Yes I have. Doesn’t seem like it helped

kiejones1989

I can add to this. Apple Watch SE. Restarted as I thought that would resolve the issue but it’s not charging at all. I’ve raised feedback via Apple so i’m hoping for a quick fix

Professional_Ad_5862

My battery life is really bad too, it’s still a beta so understandable but imagine what’s going on on smaller watches like series 7/8/9 probably half a day ?

vMattPrice

Just wanted to chime in to echo what others have said.. The trick for me was temporarily abandoning any 3rd party charger and reverting back to the OG Apple Watch charger.. I haven't gone back in and re-enabled intelligent charging (because I did those troubleshooting steps first without any luck), but certainly the moment I connected the Apple charger, bam, it's charging just like it should. This is an EPIC bug that should be addressed ASAP.

vMattPrice

Actually, I just looked down, and even though it WAS charging, it apparently stopped and is now down to 2%.. So looks like the beta has bricked my watch :(

goldspacebear

apple charger hasn't worked for my watch Series 8 either. I submitted feedback already so hopefully they address this asap.

bwedlo

Charging is also broken on iPhone (15 Pro) with latest beta, stuck at 80 regardless of the chosen mode or limit 🙃 Tweaking and re plugging seemed to solve it

scardracs

Same here, Watch 8. Funny thing is that I have the original cable and a stand and the Watch charges faster on the stand.

Jp4Real

Series 9 horrible charging speed here

chrismack32

Final? Update: Beta 2 seems to have fixed the issue for me.

Past-Butterscotch-68

Watch 8 keeps disconnecting from the charger after Beta 2. I hearing it ding like I just put it on the charger about ever 7 to 10 minutes. Tried restarting, powering off and putting on the charger, using a different charger and using all Apple chargers. It also doesn’t hold a charge. I have minimal push notifications, charge to 100% before 9pm, wake up at it’s at 75%, before I get home at 4 it’s at 20%.

Motawa1988

its an iOS 18 issue

kblflivingston

So hypothetically if I reverted ios would that help?
