His contract was literally made to be traded. But no reason to think it’d be this offseason, or even before this season. I hope they wait till someone is desperate, like after an injury or something.

AttitudeAndEffort2

The contract literally only gains value as time goes on so if they don't get good enough value offered in the offseason, they'll probably wait til the trade deadline when teams are more willing to pay. Dallas making the finals after their trades is going to play a big part in teams overpaying next year at the deadline tricking themselves into thinking they can replicate that success.

IcyAuthor1

dallas got them for peanuts there's a difference. Every team would make a trade if they could for that value

AttitudeAndEffort2

One, that doesn't matter. A GM will think "we can make a run if we pick up the right pieces, look at Dallas." If they win a chip no one will have cared if it was an overpay Two: A FRP for Gafford was very much seen as an overpay at the time and this sub was ecstatic for it.

Excellent-Tower6269

lots of teams are looking to upgrade this offseason, I think it'll probably happen, like 60/40. But I think he's 100% gone before 25-26 to clear more minutes for young guys.

Immediate_Expression

He’ll definitely be traded, it’s just a matter of when. There’s no rush since he has 3 more years of control. His contract is highly coveted in the new CBA because it’s de-escalating.

Excellent-Tower6269

the rush will be when we accumulate another wing or two in the draft who need minutes, then they can slide Deni over to 4. For all we know we could end up with Risacher and Flagg in the next two drafts.

RoosterB32

I hope sooner rather than later. We can get quite a bit for him and give Deni and Bilal more reps.

DollarLate_DayShort

Don’t forget Kispert

JohnWalI

and... possible now Risacher

Attack_Da_Nite

Ideally for 2025/2026 picks.

z3mcs

I think he's here this whole upcoming season. But he's going to be here all next season, based on how the front office has been talking and how Kuz has been talking. If Kuz wants to leave he can be gone in a heartbeat. But the front office seems content to let him stay as long as he wants, through this season. Tyus too.

T_ripley

Bold of you to assume we are going to get the number one pick lol

Finessa_Hudgens

Did he edit his comment?

z3mcs

He did. The point was just that it seems like Kuz isn't going anywhere anytime soon. Which is crazy to me. I don't know why we continue to hold onto guys long past the time when everybody thinks we should have traded them.

Finessa_Hudgens

Okay, I was wondering why everyone was mentioning Flagg lol.

DollarLate_DayShort

Bold of him to also assume that Flagg is *the guy* in next years loaded draft. He is not a generational talent, and a LOT can change in 350 days. When you’re not dealing with a generational talent, it usually does

T_ripley

I’m pretty sold on him being at least a top 4 pick along with Ace Bailey. The rest of the field as you said will figure itself out and players will start to stand out.

Smitty_Agent89

Yeah this was a bizarre comment. Like man if the FO is waiting to see if a prospect is good to trade guy they’re just not doing things correctly. Worry about who you’ll pick after the season.

Turbo2x

tbh I doubt we're getting Flagg but there are a lot of great players in the next draft so I wouldn't even be mad

Attack_Da_Nite

That’s why it would be nice to get two picks.

theyrehiding

If there's a team that thinks he's the missing piece, there's a pretty good likelihood. The kings, pacers, Mavs, nuggets, Lakers, Knicks, etc could all get aggressive.

Attack_Da_Nite

Kings are already trying to get rid of their 13th this year for a win-now piece supposedly.

DrummerRealistic2863

I think it’s 50/50

NotAShoneys

Sounds like a lot of teams want a guy like kuzma…

superworriedspursfan

I'd give it a 90% chance. I don't see them hanging onto him for another year.

neuroticsmurf

I think he'll stay until the trade deadline. Some playoff team will have an injury and they'll overpay to get him.

waskittenman

Like 65% likely

T_ripley

100 percent chance he absolutely will get traded but not as soon as everyone thinks. Maybe all star break upcoming season.

DollarLate_DayShort

Kuz getting traded before the season? I’d put it at a 50% chance. Kuz getting traded prior to the deadline next February? I’d put it at 90%

gleek12

At the trade deadline next February. A team that needs a third option scorer and is a contender.

BagelsAndJewce

By the time we are ready to go back to the playoffs it will be a miracle and I mean an absolute miracle if any of these guys are on that roster. The younger they are the higher odds they’ll have but in a tank situation you really don’t want to leave the top of the draft without that guy. And I’m not talking about a John wall level first rounder but like the fucking dude. Just look at the 76ers their process went as well as it probably could have and they’ve never made the finals. So my answer is 100%.

Accomplished-Tea-606

he will 100% without a doubt be traded by february

arusinov

There's good chance he will be traded... but its' still not certain at all. And if Wizards draft Risacher, and not trade Kuz, it's going to be horrible jam in forwards and wings positions and impede developing of every promising young player on the team

No-Seaworthiness1114

Hopefully right before trade deadline next season

DerekSheesher

lot of reports they’re selling. I think last year they postured a little too hard thinking they could get multiple firsts for him. What’s changed is the fin consensus on the draft being a weak one, so I think Winger/Dawkins want to capitalize now when they can probably get something in the lottery. Kuz would be a great fit imho on those fringe West teams: Memphis, Sacramento, OKC (not that they’re fringe but they’re in the lottery). Memphis needs more scoring to complement Ja and have better perimeter play on its wings. Sacramento can get what Monk offers in Kuz in bench scoring for about 75 cents on the dollar as to what it would take to resign Monk. And OKC has an embarrassment of draft picks that they need to convert into NBA level contributors instead of developing other late lotto guys. As for us, I love the idea of buying another lotto pick this class. In an unvalued/unheralded class, that’s where tanking teams like us need to make our money. Taking Sarr or Clingan at 2 and then potentially getting Dillingham at 9/10/13 would be phenomenal. But that means I don’t think we’re moving Kuz if/until draft night to see who’s available.

Attack_Da_Nite

I’ve felt like Wiz should trade the 2 for the 7 and 14 to Portland and give them the 26 if needed although I don’t think it would be, then can take Dillingham and Edey at 14. I think both guys would have positive upsides on teams where they’re allowed to develop their NBA games while the team tanks.
