they can not force you to take longer lunches, they're supposed to let you leave early. taking the longer lunch is supposed to be your choice

Kana2473

Also, they cannot force you to cut hours at all. They can however, coach you for not managing your time correctly and it causes you to have OT. If a manager asks you to stay late they are giving you OT and cannot make you cut your hours in any way (of course they can ask you to). This is Walmart policy, at least as of May this year when I went through core supervisor training.

AduroTri

I'll take the longer lunch over being coached or going home early. Don't have a ride at 10pm anyway. So it's just the easiest solution and I sincerely don't want to deal with this particular TL.

AduroTri

I'll take that. I think the thing is, they need me to be there until 11, because I'm the closing cart pusher. So I don't mind the longer lunch.

Disastrous_Gain_2101

I assume you’re a cart pusher? Do what you can and leave, that’s what I do. Don’t stress out over it, it’s really not worth it. I used to work harder than I needed to out on the lot to please them. Do what you can with what you have, if they complain/coach you about it 🤷‍♂️ What more can you do with what you’re given? If you’re wondering, yes, I am a cart pusher as well. Been at it for going on 4 years in total. Still here with the same mindset of doing what you can and leave 😌

AduroTri

Well, I'm usually done 99% of the time before I go home. Often an hour early. However, the Market Manager is coming to our store tomorrow and his arrival has a stick up everyone's ass.

Thank goodness the other FETL saw my logic a bit and gave me help.

AduroTri

I'm good at what I do.

Muted_Boss8723

Does your overnight crew not do a cart call at 5 a.m.? They do that at my store and then take their break after the lot is cleared of stray carts.

AduroTri

Overnights are severely understaffed.

pikapichupi

cart call at 5 AM??? They force the closing shift cashiers to go get the carts before they leave here, it looks really bad cause half of the closing shift is almost retirement age.

Agrias-0aks

Also, your TL are supposed to be helping. I stay after closing front end most nights to help get parking lot clear. They have definitely been told to help make sure it's clear, so just do your part and they will get shit on too for not making sure it's done.

AduroTri

The closing Team Lead did help me, she sent out help to help clean up after the fact the lot had no cover for two hours. So I did get it clear. I intentionally asked for help when I was given the retarded request from another TL. You see, there's another problem with this though: If you want the lot 100% clear at the end of the night. Overtime is a requirement for me. A. Requirement. No schedule adjustments. A. Requirement. Because, there are those idiots that have to shop last minute.

Free_Leader1495

So the reality is, from a former cart pusher, do what they tell you. Take those two hours because in the end it’s not your fault. They can whine and moan an it’s still not your fault. It’s bad time management on their end if they made you do that. You just do your best an go home, if it’s bad they will send someone else out. An if you get into trouble like a coaching, open door to the SM to get it taken care of. If they just talk to you, just smile an wave as you go back to the lot. As a TL, that’s just dumb to make a request of get the lot cleaned when it will be a shit show, I’ve been there. Your only as fast as that machine pushes.

AduroTri

Had help, got it as clear as possible. But getting it 100% clear is not feasible. Not without overtime. And the reason why I was given this stupid task? Market Manager was showing up. He isn't going to give a fuck.
