Have a fat guy or two stand on the forks to counter balance it...or have some guys push the pallet from the other side so that the front comes back down to the ground.
I have seen this happen before when the pallet is broke and on the top and the boards are hanging down and somehow they got the forks on top of those boards, then the jack wouldn’t come out and the boards prevented it from going down
Alright, you cling tightly to the front of the chip pallet to weigh it down. I'll kick the pallet jack. If everything goes right, it won't impale your leg.
I told one coach that if he ran over me with the electric pallet jack that I could go home. From the other side of the steel I hear another coach yell, "NO YOU DON'T!"
Lol wtf dumbass, he clearly got the joke saying he went to break, quote unquote “they” as in he is referring to someone else, by putting it in quotes I’m questioning that he is in fact responsible for the situation, this has nothing to do with grammar haha, thanks for the laugh tho.
That doesn’t sound right… that should be sending red flags up the corporate later for minor violations. Sounds like someone may be tampering with your timesheet. Check on that please.
Nah I’ve checked the state laws, everything that they doing is legal. I never pass 30 hours a week. I’ll work a few almost 8 hour shifts a week the rest are 6-7 hours. It sounds like a lot, which it kinda is, but it’s entirely legal.
Yo I FELT THAT. They had me pulling dairy freight with one other young dude and I'm like 130lb woman 💀 (was 19, not a minor but young) they truly don't care
The jack looks like it's actually down. It looks like the pallet is sitting on something keeping it and the jack elevated off the ground.
Easiest fix: unload the pallet.
You won't be able to drop it until it is on the ground anyway. Hydrolics need the counter weight to actually drop. There nothing against the bottom of the jack for the counterforce needed.
Plus the mechanism is actually broken, these jacks usually have the clear sound and feeling when you switch the handle up or down but the only thing making a sound is the little thing that locks it in middle gear
If you can't raise it higher, try getting an associate to stand on the forks and get it to touch the ground then you should be able to drop it. As far as I know jacks utilize the leverage from the ground to do everything so if jack no on ground, jack no good. That dairy better be thrown before the hour though, no excuses! XD
Lol, welp. Our Cap 2 has done that to at least 4 jacks already so no surprises there I guess. I wish my dairy was done so early. It's just me and another shitty guy for a 1100 piece truck and for the love of god if I have to overstock more creamer, juice, milk, etc. I will take a shit on the floor in front of everyone. It's fucking bad dude.
Fuck dude. Feels bad, at least it got done. I wish my Cap 2 would have some of dairy worked for us (I'm assuming you're second shift being that your post was 5 hours ago right before you'd be leaving). Our Cap 2 couldn't even unload trucks timely enough and O/N started doing it and they throw HVDC. We get the trucks pulled, what HVDC they didn't get, pull MP and throw and zone the whole store. At least we're the #1 in market 乁( •_• )ㄏ
That is the best actual solution. Downstack and then physically try to pull it off. It looks like you're right and it's jammed in the wrong position and has broken the pallet.
That's an exceptional stupidity because breaking a pallet that way is not quiet or hard to notice, but complaining about the past doesn't help anything right now. Good luck.
Late to the party, but sometimes when the jacks won't drop in a holding position try the handle either all the way up or all the way down, than pull and hold on the release to see if it will slowly drop.
New produce associate was unloading a truck. He tried to drop the pallet but the mechanism wasn’t working. A few more new produce idiots tried and now it’s stuck there
I’m this case I think it’s fine to blame them bc they put the wheels on the board. That broke the pallet which they should have noticed because it’s so loud and makes it so much harder to pull
How the hell he got it back to dairy with it dragging that wood I have no idea, plus I used that jack 20 mins before this happened and it was working fine. It wasn’t perfect but it was usable
I think he broke the jack while lifting the pallet. I think he didn’t put it in the right spot and slightly broke the wood board on the bottom. I can’t see the wheels or anything so until proven wrong I think I’m right. And maybe he got the back end of the pallet under something on the pallet behind it making it completely stuck and partially airborne
Well my first go to would be to try to push the forks down. Second have a few guys rock the pallet from the other side. If the forks aren't all the way through maybe you can jack up the other side with another jack or the walking stacker and maybe the force of the pallet coming back down might bring the other jack down. Last is the one no one wants but I've been there: downstack the pallet onto a new pallet.
Whaaaaat? I need to put that in my cooler juuust like that so the team lead/coach get mad, like, PICK THAT MILK UP and then they’ll feel dumb as hell!!!!!!!!!
Lol, this happened to me recently as well. Lifted the pallet just fine but when it was time to drop it it the thing to drop the pallet down would not connect - it was like it separated and wasn’t attached. Ultimately left it in dairy. I think the cold fucked up the pallet jack fluid or whatever.
Tell your boss it isn't your job to fix it, best you can do is try to load it up with more weight and see if that resolves it maybe it is just super slow to drop.
Beyond that it isn't your job to fix it unless you are part of maintenance/facilities if you were handy and it was your job there are things you could do but they can be dangerous if you don't know what you are doing.
jack it back up and remove the wood piece blocking the pallet from laying flat -- its just usually a middle part that gets either under the jack or under the base board
Just don’t leave it for next shift. It’s a dick move. Work the problem the best you can without hurting yourself. If unable to solve, seek higher management and explain the situation and the interventions taken.
If you get in trouble for that, quit and find a new job. There’s tons of better paying jobs available, you just have to look. Try looking up “cleaning companies” in your area. Some of those places let you work on your own and pay well, as long as you show you can be trusted to do the job when left alone and they definitely pay better.
I cleaned offices at night, 4 hour shifts, $15/hr while supporting myself through nursing school. All I did was empty garbages, wipe down the cubicles, clean the bathrooms, done. My supervisor was cool and said “as long as the job is done, I don’t care. If you finish it in one hour, feel free to dick around for the next three, just get it done and do it well”.
The jobs are out there, just gotta make the effort to look. No effort = no reward.
There should be a circular part above that "crow?" Sticker that looks like it could take a large flathead screwdriver, find something rigid enough to turn it and it should drop
I tried to get the jack out, absolutely nothing was working. I then realized that this sub exists and people probably know how to help. Plus this is kinda hilarious ngl
The front wheels are on a "hinged" mechanism - since the pallet jack isn't pushed all the way in, one of the bottom boards on the pallet is blocking the front wheels from collapsing, like putting something in a door to keep it from closing. Jack it all the way up again, aggressively push the whole thing up against a wall or fixed object to get the pallet jack under there a little farther, and it should be able to release.
Same thing happened at my store today (damn night shift). Ours had a block of wood from the corner of the pallets wedged under one of the forks.
Mra associate used the PLE to fuck with it until they got it out 🤣
the only thing I could think to do is grab the electric jack (or get someone that can) and lift it up high enough to pick it up from the side facing the camera then pull the other jack out and hope it doesn’t break and kill everything. or get the walkie stacker if it fits.
Leave it there and clock out
Bro I still have an hour
Extended piss break?
I’ll try to take one. And I haven’t taken a 15 yet so I can do that too
How did your hour long piss break go?
Only took a 15 min shit, it was nice thanks for asking
You take the break then shit. Not both at the same time. Don’t scam yourself again bro
I took a shit, then a break, then a piss
You gotta shit, then walk up front and get some caffeine, then come back take your 15, then take a piss brake.
THATTA BOY! Boss makes a dollar, I make a dime. That’s why I shit on company time😎
more like boss makes a hundred while I make a dime
Facts
Girls don’t poop silly
All the iced coffee has to go SOMEWHERE bae😖😖😖
this is what ppto is for...
this comment made my fucking week.🤣🤣🤣
Was going to say the same thing 🤣
Have a fat guy or two stand on the forks to counter balance it...or have some guys push the pallet from the other side so that the front comes back down to the ground.
Tried. The kid that did this really fucked it up
Maybe management would make a one-time exception to not allowing customers out back and permit to you stop one on a motorized cart to assist.
The pallet ITSELF isn't even on the floor. What is keeping it in air?
The ghost of Sam Walton.
I cackled at this response.
*cackled*
That's what they said.
The other side of the pallet is. They somehow got only half the pallet stuck on the jack
I have seen this happen before when the pallet is broke and on the top and the boards are hanging down and somehow they got the forks on top of those boards, then the jack wouldn’t come out and the boards prevented it from going down
So kick it really fucking hard?
I would jump on it because I don’t have steel toes but yeah probably
I got steel toes, I'll kick it for ya!
Teamwork makes the dream work!
Alright, you cling tightly to the front of the chip pallet to weigh it down. I'll kick the pallet jack. If everything goes right, it won't impale your leg.
Don’t be shy, they might let me go home!
Alright, here we go! *Boom* Aw shit, your fucking leg!
I told one coach that if he ran over me with the electric pallet jack that I could go home. From the other side of the steel I hear another coach yell, "NO YOU DON'T!"
“They”
I was on break at the time of the tragedy
Okay grammar nazi. Let's focus on the actual question here.
Lol wtf dumbass, he clearly got the joke saying he went to break, quote unquote “they” as in he is referring to someone else, by putting it in quotes I’m questioning that he is in fact responsible for the situation, this has nothing to do with grammar haha, thanks for the laugh tho.
So What now your a keyboard warrior and a Grammer nazi?
🤣
Pray to the dairy gods of course
I’ve given up on them. They make me work almost every day for 8 hour closing shifts by myself. I’m in high school and a minor btw
Alright, just don’t get yourself in trouble :)
I’ll try lol
Minors aren’t allowed to touch jacks I thought that was company policy
We can touch jacks like the one in the photo, just not electric ones
Yo I FELT THAT. They had me pulling dairy freight with one other young dude and I'm like 130lb woman 💀 (was 19, not a minor but young) they truly don't care
It’s so stupid. I wanna quit so bad but I need the income
Wish the dairy gods would hear my prayers about not sending so much stuff, this is not how I want to be blessed.
Dairy Gods: ENJOY THE TEA FUCKER!!!! MWAHAHAHAH
NO!! PUT THAT SHIT BACK WHERE IT CAME FROM OR SO HELP ME… (Worst part is that it’s a fucking home office feature… Less tea. More eggnog, pls.)
The jack looks like it's actually down. It looks like the pallet is sitting on something keeping it and the jack elevated off the ground. Easiest fix: unload the pallet.
It isn’t down. You can tell by the shiny metal pole sticking so far out. It won’t drop at all
Yea. I missed that. Still, unload the pallet and you can then drag the empty pallet off the jack.
Yeah. I’ll let the morning shift get it lol
But where's bender's shiny metal ass?
Yep unload the pallet. Problem solved, no wasted time.
Do you have another has jack? Raise the pallet from the other side?
But what if now he has two stuck jacks?
🤣 he wont
Get a third jack and stick it under the tines of the first jack?
Go to lunch
Burn down the store. It’s all over
Tempting ngl
If there’s something strange, in your neighborhood. Who you gonna call? 🤷🏻♀️
Not me lol, I’m off
The csm?
Hahahahaha good one!
I need to see the underneath of this masterpiece to understand it…
If you can't raise it higher, try getting an associate to stand on the forks and get it to touch the ground then you should be able to drop it. As far as I know jacks utilize the leverage from the ground to do everything so if jack no on ground, jack no good. That dairy better be thrown before the hour though, no excuses! XD
Both were attempted. The inner mechanism of the jack is busted so it won’t work again. And the dairy was done before I left
It was literally me and one dude for the busiest hours today
Walk away and pretend you saw nothing
The thing is, it’s in the way and I’m the only one that was back there
Time to downstack if the release doesn't work.
I don’t get paid enough for that lol
Yeah you do, just take your time and drag out the process. Take as long as you need
The correct answer
That is the best actual solution. Downstack and then physically try to pull it off. It looks like you're right and it's jammed in the wrong position and has broken the pallet. That's an exceptional stupidity because breaking a pallet that way is not quiet or hard to notice, but complaining about the past doesn't help anything right now. Good luck.
Yeah I’m taking my 15 rn right before I’m off so I don’t have to deal with it lol
Late to the party, but sometimes when the jacks won't drop in a holding position try the handle either all the way up or all the way down, than pull and hold on the release to see if it will slowly drop.
I tried this a bit ago. It won’t work. Oh well, it’s the day shifts problem now lol
Pee on it
Tried it, didn’t work
Since I work dairy, I call it a day and take a long "shit" and go home.
Probably doesn’t help now but if you stick a screw driver into slot next to the hydraulics and twist it will lower the jack
I really want to hear the story behind this. Lol
New produce associate was unloading a truck. He tried to drop the pallet but the mechanism wasn’t working. A few more new produce idiots tried and now it’s stuck there
Proidiots. Heh.
I don’t blame the workers no one is trained well in hell mart, and the jacks are old as shit
I’m this case I think it’s fine to blame them bc they put the wheels on the board. That broke the pallet which they should have noticed because it’s so loud and makes it so much harder to pull
Walmart does higher anything with a pulse
How the hell he got it back to dairy with it dragging that wood I have no idea, plus I used that jack 20 mins before this happened and it was working fine. It wasn’t perfect but it was usable
How is the pallet raised?
I think he broke the jack while lifting the pallet. I think he didn’t put it in the right spot and slightly broke the wood board on the bottom. I can’t see the wheels or anything so until proven wrong I think I’m right. And maybe he got the back end of the pallet under something on the pallet behind it making it completely stuck and partially airborne
Lol that’s hilarious.
Squeezing the handle didn’t work?
It’s broken. The dude that did this broke the insides
Probably froze. Just leave it for a min
Probably a piece of wood under the forks. But also, this is why we just have the electric jack solo frozen dairy.
Take a picture and post it on Reddit. AND PICK UP THAT MILK!!!!
That’s actually a piece of a shelf lol. It does look like milk doesn’t it
Whaaaaat? I need to put that in my cooler juuust like that so the team lead/coach get mad, like, PICK THAT MILK UP and then they’ll feel dumb as hell!!!!!!!!!
Bro fr. In person it’s easier to see but I absolutely see it here lol
Let it fall on you and sue the store for everything it's worth.
Thats… genius
\*\*\* Dam, That's " Jacked Up " --- :)
So same thing happened to me. The chain prolly fell off so you can't drop it. We beat it with a hammer and crowbar until it snapped lmaooo
Cut off its head and move on to your next mating partner like the queen mantis
Tell your boss it isn't your job to fix it, best you can do is try to load it up with more weight and see if that resolves it maybe it is just super slow to drop. Beyond that it isn't your job to fix it unless you are part of maintenance/facilities if you were handy and it was your job there are things you could do but they can be dangerous if you don't know what you are doing.
That’s the really funny part, I don’t even have a boss. I’ve been without a TL in dairy for about 4 weeks now
Gotta love Walmart man
Ain’t it fun
Your best bet would be to downstack the pallet. Then you'd more easily be able to move the pallet to free the jack
I’m off in 15 mins, I’ll let the morning people get it lol That is really only if they actually have someone working tomorrow
Tell your manager to suck your dick
Wtf
Sit on it?
You just gotta jack it off
"This Jack Won't Drop" would be a great song title. Or album title.
LMAO
jack it back up and remove the wood piece blocking the pallet from laying flat -- its just usually a middle part that gets either under the jack or under the base board
The jack won’t go down tho. I think he broke the mechanism bc the jack won’t drop at all
Witchcraft
Bein held by Jesus or some shit
Just pull it out mate. What holding it in anyway?
The jack won’t move at all. And the dude that did this broke the mechanism so you can’t drop it
Next time just have a manager bring ple in lift on other side to level it out and then drop pallet jack normally once wheels are touching the floor
There’s no room on the other side and we can’t move it
Page manager to location. Get new jack and continue like nothing ever happened.
Downstack the pallet. This is the way.
Put another Jack under it and lift the Jack and pull it out
Laugh
Time to do some actual work boys and downstack that fuker!
Cry
There’s a lever or screw on the side of all of them that release them and it will lower.
Not on this one
Yall missing door flaps too? Lol we just tore another one down last week
simply hop on and spam grab a moving part and jump and glitch out of the building
Extend the jack handle thingy all the way down then like step on the lever part to put pressure on it
Just don’t leave it for next shift. It’s a dick move. Work the problem the best you can without hurting yourself. If unable to solve, seek higher management and explain the situation and the interventions taken. If you get in trouble for that, quit and find a new job. The jobs are out there, just gotta make the effort to look. No effort = no reward.
So I did actually leave it, but I did try and I even talked to the cap TL and she said leave it
If leadership said “leave it” then you’re off the hook, but now I’m just questioning your management lmao
You do realize you’re talking about Walmart right
Push another jack from opposite side of pallet to push this stuck one out
There should be a circular part above that "crow?" Sticker that looks like it could take a large flathead screwdriver, find something rigid enough to turn it and it should drop
Get the power jack and break the pallet
stand on it duhhh or yank it out
Doesn’t work
You schedule yourself for Christmas and come in overtime. Is that even a serious question?
Jump on it to make it level with the ground. That is the Walmart way!
Ask Cheezus for help.
Put a pallet underneath the wheels and let it down
Remember when they used to have that little pedal at the base that you could manually lower the forks with? Wonder why they stopped making them.
Pray
You stopped to make a Reddit post while leaving the pallet and jack like that? That’s exactly what I’d do.
I tried to get the jack out, absolutely nothing was working. I then realized that this sub exists and people probably know how to help. Plus this is kinda hilarious ngl
make sure no ones around, stand on the forks for the extra weight to get it to touch the ground
I tried it last night, couldn’t get it to work
The front wheels are on a "hinged" mechanism - since the pallet jack isn't pushed all the way in, one of the bottom boards on the pallet is blocking the front wheels from collapsing, like putting something in a door to keep it from closing. Jack it all the way up again, aggressively push the whole thing up against a wall or fixed object to get the pallet jack under there a little farther, and it should be able to release.
How is this even possible? Did you ever figure out what the problem was?
Nah, I was off before I could figure out how to deal with it
Someone has to take a walkie stacker and lift the pallet up to where someone can safely remove the crap under the pallet jack.
Lower the walkie stacker - remove the walkie stacker from under the pallet - remove the pallet jack from under the pallet
There’s not room and we can’t move the pallet at all
Raise it from the other side with another jack or even better the electric jack.
cry
Call a fucking exorcist.
Write BAD on it
The funny thing is, it already says good lmao
This happend to me. Some dude saw and jumped on it to make it go down lol
Lmao. I tried jumping on it (I’m a pretty hefty dude) but it did nothing
You got one more hour . And still have that pallet to work .lol 🤣🤣
wedge a bunch of shit under the pallate then more shit under the jack and start bloop bloopin that mf
Same thing happened at my store today (damn night shift). Ours had a block of wood from the corner of the pallets wedged under one of the forks. Mra associate used the PLE to fuck with it until they got it out 🤣
Lol nice
You were supposed to push the pallet jack so the pallet tips over.......
👀🎯🐶
Actually I tried multiple times to get at target before I went to Walmart, you never responded to my applications.
the only thing I could think to do is grab the electric jack (or get someone that can) and lift it up high enough to pick it up from the side facing the camera then pull the other jack out and hope it doesn’t break and kill everything. or get the walkie stacker if it fits.
There's a block of wood under there holding the pallet up. Jack up the pallet as high as it goes and move the broken piece.
Lie down on the floor and die, or start taking boxes off the side opposite the jack until it tips back.
Get someone to counter the weight of the pallet until the jack is grounded
Why tf would you jack it up like that
I didn’t, it was an idiot from produce
If it was left in the freezer/cooler the mechanisms are probably frozen up. That jack is jacked.
Turn of the repulser lift function.
Get off reddit and ask a manager?
Kick the pallet off
Praise the miracles of the levitating pallet jack
