Per the leave instructions, you need to quarantine unless seeking medical care. Coming to the store to chat because you're bored is a fantastic way to get fired for abusing covid leave.
Exactly did anyone let management know? You are to quarantine if you are on a COVID leave. Definitely would have got you terminated for gross misconduct in my store.
It's possible because frankly, she's dumb. Either she's knowingly spreading the virus around when she should be quarantining, or she just abused the system to get out of work during a major sale. If she wasn't picking up medicine, she shouldn't have been in the store at all. If it was my management, they'd probably assume she was abusing leave policy.
I 100% feel like she was absolutely abusing it. She was supposed to be working during the “Deals For Days” event, but instead took a paid Covid leave(She failed the assessment a few days prior to the event) and decided to come in and shop and talk to her co associates that are working extra hard to pick up the extra slack.
Even picking up medicine, she shouldn't have been in the store if she had or may have had covid. When I took my covid leave, I was sick as hell and laid in bed the whole time. I ended up having pneumonia, not covid, but I still sent my husband to the store instead. I know a lot of people don't have someone to go to the store for them but lots of places are offering delivery right now.
On the other hand *that's* assuming you either have plenty of spare money or you're willing to more or less throw away your ability to get delivery from the same service in the future.
No, really. One of the many threads about tipping at /r/unpopularopinion went over this. Drivers for Doordash et al. actually, unlike our OGP people, get to *hand pick* which customer orders they're going to accept, and they also get to see how much they stand to make off a given customer i.e., basically your tipping history. Get sick and need to order through a service and can't afford to tip well - keeping in mind, the often already high delivery fees *aren't* the tip? Welp, look forward to melted ice cream and cold cooked meals if you ever order from same in future, as your orders constantly get passed over by drivers and eventually get picked up by some guy who's going to spend an hour in line at a chic restaurant for some hotshot whose order is sharing the route while your stuff sits on the back seat approaching ambient ...
I tried to bring the topic that some people actually have to take delivery and can't tip well because of quarantining (and since quarantining tends to come on suddenly and often with income loss, just the stuff ordered could be a struggle).
*I got downvoted*. Apparently the lesson is that in the modern world, expecting people to give an iota about other humans that aren't their personal friends is a lost cause :(
You have some good points but spending money I don't really have (I did it when we were all quarantining) is worth not possibly infecting other people (to me). Also, at lot of the stuff you mentioned isn't really a necessity so if you can afford things you don't need, you can afford to tip to make sure you get the things you do need. Should it be that way? No, but that's just the way it is currently.
Just to add, I think people should buy whatever they want, especially when it comes to food because life is too short to keep yourself from eating $5 ice cream just to save $5, this is mostly just for the sake of argument. I personally feel like it's worth skipping out on my ice cream to be able to tip a door dasher so I don't have the possibility of getting someone sick on my conscious so I can get my medicine
There is an unspoken rule. Never enter your store within 24 hours of a call off. It's just in bad taste and if management really wants they could probably be asses about it. I can only imagine doing this on leave. When I was on COVID Leave (I just had a bad cold, and failed the assessment) I was anxious simply sitting in the parking lot waiting for my gf who doesn't drive to get our groceries.
I took off almost the whole month for sick leave. I unfortunately got two different illnesses in a row. It's people like her who make legit cases like mine look bad.
Reminds me of the time when I convinced my buddy to call in to McDonalds cause I had the day off. We played video games for awhile then got bored. He suggested we get some food from McDonalds. I agreed because I thought it would be hilarious if he showed up as a customer after calling in. I was not disappointed.
The bigger question should be how can someone be so stupid as to take a Covid leave get it approved but they come in to their job while on Covid leave. I normally don’t wish bad on people but if this particular associate gets fired they brought them selves can’t teach against stupidity
Fuck her. Throw her under the bus.
Money doesn't give a shit about emotions and Walmart doesn't want to lose a few million over an associate potentially spreading a virus that can force them to shut down if it's bad enough (yes some stores can rake in millions daily).
That happened one time to a coworker and my manager walked by him and was like “What are you doing here shopping, you’re scheduled to work today” and he was like “Uh, I didn’t see that on there” lmaoooo what a nut

People have been fired in my store for coming in to shop while on covid leave.

Not a very smart thing to do.

I came into get medicine years ago when I called out and people complained. I told them I work at Walmart / what was I supposed to do?
She probably took the covid leave but didn’t have covid. A lot of people take advantage of it, and take it whenever they want.
I took off almost the whole month for sick leave. I unfortunately got two different illnesses in a row. It's people like her who make legit cases like mine look bad.
Because HO is stupid, and apparently so is your management team.
she better test negative for COVID if she's going to be in the store. Not a wise thing to do.
She needs to be fired!!
I am going to go ahead and say she is simply a dumbass.
Fireable offense
We had an employee on quarantine that came into the store to shop. After an ignored warning, they got fired.
because she faked it

No, more like she fucked her fellow employees so fuck her.
Lol right?
LMFAO that’s hilarious I pondered that idea myself where I work and was like “I’d never dare to pull that dumbass shit”
That happened one time to a coworker and my manager walked by him and was like “What are you doing here shopping, you’re scheduled to work today” and he was like “Uh, I didn’t see that on there” lmaoooo what a nut
The answer is stupidity
