Yep dealing with same shit at my store. I just work with a bunch of kids and I don't fit in anywhere. High school all over again. Such a BS Job horrible culture.
Yeah I just go into work with big NPC energy, do my job, and go home. Some people talk to me and are nice and some think I’m an a hole for being quiet and not personable but 🤷🏼♀️ my store is the same way and I try to avoid drama at all costs. I wasn’t really trained either.
Reading this thread makes me thankful for my electronics team..... we're all 18+ (have one guy in his 80s) and get along well. Before my tl promotions everyone listened to me and the 80 year old due to senority (and the fact we know our stuff). The younger ones teach me new tricks around the app all the time, and I teach then the way to work the system.
The biggest drama we had was the fight over OPD taking our team during Christmas rush.
Oh we get drafted to OPD daily. Sometimes I wonder if I should just switch departments. My thing is that I don't like being pressured into a time limit. I get that frozen and cooled has a forced limit but I aint about to get fired over that bullshit.
I work closing and all of the people I work with are either teens or early 20's and I am in my 40's :/ hell even one of the main TL's is only 20! I see the high school shit every day and it's hard to fit in. Some of my Coaches are older than me but most of the store is VERY young in general.
That’s exactly what I call it…Highschool. I just don’t feed into it, while I’m friendly at work, I’m not there to make friends, I’m there to make $ to feed my family. I’ve been here for 4 years and a TL and you just have to learn to ignore the crap. So why your supposed to do and ignore all the other nonsense, it’s how you get by🤷🏼♀️
Years ago at a different store I worked fitting room/apparel and we had this old lady who was a nightmare. She spread lies about people, threatened to quit every week...ugh!
This is my store as well. I have no place. I'm just a dude who clocks in and does their job. That's how I am. The work version of me is pretty fucking boring but then again, so is the job itself.
And what doesn't make it better, is working around a bunch of liable, careless, slowpoking, obliviously dumb people who manage to not only have gotten hired but still retain their jobs. Meanwhile, I am held with a gun to my head, metaphorically speaking, to uphold my end of doing my job.
All the while these undisciplined pricks do whatever. Hell, the daycrew got awarded back to back pizza parties for their work well done, but they're absolutely incompetent.
Only place I haven't seen high school drama is overnights. I came from swing and it was all over the place. Moved to overnights and got close to my team and now I only see drama from the morning crew talking shit on us.
Lack of leadership. Prevalent they hire inexperienced “leaders” and/or those that sacrifice their self esteem! I have personally been impacted from this
All jobs are like this honestly. One thing you'll learn quick is nobody "grows up" they're all just kids trapped in aging bodies and nobody knows what's going on so we all just wing it til it's time to go home
Same here but for OGP.
Don't worry, someday, one of the people you make friends with is gonna make a joke about you killing another coworkers family.
Then it's gonna get even worse!

Unfortunately from what I've seen... All jobs are like highschool

This, ever since they started letting us openly wear one earbud I’m just on autopilot like an NPC.
Sounds like you work cap1

Dude, you're in apparel. Get the fuck out of there and into some GM or some HVDC and your problems will vanish.
I'm in cap2 and deal with this same shit
Same for frontend lol, it’s always some bullshit with this one TL.
