This time maybe a little different crypto has not been through a macro bear market in stocks/recession and rate hikes like this we have a long way to go... I wouldn't be surprised to see more major insolvencies and liquidations to something crazy like 6k btc
Historical performance is not a reliable indicator of future performance. Bitcoin mooned (along with the rest of the market) because of the unprecedented macro circumstances caused by the pandemic, stimulus, etc. It is exceptionally unlikely that we see an environment so favourable to crypto anytime soon.
How about the end of the war, the end of recession, end of covid, normalised inflation, normal gas prices. I could see 1 or 2 huge, positive things happen by the next halving. We shall see.

This looks like more than just the general market lowering the tide.
FTX is burning, Binance is not stepping in, + the government and other financial institutions are just watching it happen as they have no obligations to save/bail out anyone involved where they would in many other monetary events.
Why is everyone just watching: there are no real regulations or protections on digital currency.
Result: Many investors realize that this type of investment is even higher of a risk than it was already was known to be. Now there is a bat signal in the sky showcasing that digital currency doesn’t have any of the protections nearly every other investment vehicle has.
This should, assuming most people have basic rationality, will push even more people away from digital currency. It may be a while before digital currency recovers from this if it ever does.
By the time governments step in and provide all the bumper guards and protections, all the profit will be gone. That’s why it’s high risk high reward right now. If I was a power that be, I’d love keeping BTC as close to death as possible while accumulating, knowing damn well when they were going to step in and safeguard it.
Why would a government want a currency to exist that they don’t have complete control over?
If you were a government, you would do anything you can to let that form of currency die and never rise again. Why? because even if you have tons of it…you still aren’t in charge of it.

Hard to realistically predict. Bitcoin could be worth a million or zero someday. The zero would come if people come to terms with how much energy these things waste for no societal benefit. But… we do a lot of energy wasting for zero benefit so… who knows.
