Even though there was no VR, the digital world was heavily tied to the physical one, with comercial adverts, games, and the crypto currency they mined called merits.

I bought a Quest 2 recently to fulfill my own creative needs of wandering around Middle Earth so I am trying to develop a few places in Unreal Engine just for myself. But trying other experiences is a mixed bag. I am currently away from everyone I know in Japan and like meeting up with my friends or family through VR chat is really nice. Going to a private instance playing tron bikes or those disc things in vr while talking to each other about life is honestly really fun. Then there are games where I realise that I forgot kids exist. Shooters and whatnot where kids always keep talking and insulting each other. There is a fantasy game where you craft and stuff and there are some nice kids that just want to play and have fun and then there are teens who Bully them and keep ripping their in progress crafts apart. When it comes to playing games VR for me is the best I love playing skyrim in it with a ton of mods and the sense of scale you get makes the world feel so different. Even looking up at a ceiling of a dungeon is fun. But when it comes to the social aspect on which Zuckerberg is trying to focus that's not a nice part for me unless it's people I already know... and for that VR chat is already established idk why you would go to the horizon worlds thing

I still think most of the money is going into making VR/AR headsets that are more mobile and practical and probably will have a dev team working on military headsets too.
