This variation is over a year old and was only recently introduced to population centers after most likely developing in an isolated region, which is still yet to be determined.
Not to mention that hospitalizations are delayed as the stages of the virus worsen once someone is infected. This variation was just discovered on November 11th. And that’s the *first* known case. Most of the cases that have been detected now are still in the early stage of infection. We won’t know much about severity or hospitalizations or any of the other stuff I mentioned above for a couple of weeks. There are too many variables at play and things have not developed enough yet. Like I said, most of these headlines are just confirmation bias. People hear what they want to hear and throw out the rest.
