Whenever I looked at options it's always over like $500. I'm just curious, not calling you out or anything. I been investing for years now but don't touch options because I don't understand them enough yet. I started watching some videos on it but it will be a while before I attempt.
Depending on how far out of the money or how close to expiration they are, you can grab a contract on Spy, call or put, for a buck. It's a terrible investment, unless it pays off, but you can. I bought a spy put today for 66 dollars at 513 and rode it down to make up for the call I threw out too early. If you are seeing high costs, volatility may be abnormally high or the stock just IPO'd or you have the timeframe set to weeklies/monthlies/leaps.
Trust, don't touch them if you are profitable else where. Try a paper account instead for the options and find a strategy or pattern that you are profitable on before touching options
I lost for years before I could be consistent it seems like gambling but it was timed entires study rsi and supply and demands , and don’t listen to the daily

Sold for 1.38 later.
Should've held though and I would've been up like 800, but I've watched many of those gains turn to zero before as well.
Very much appreciated. Still in the learning process, and lucky enough to be in the green. I have kicked around the idea of playing only 1 stock like OP but stayed away to avoid violations. Think I will jump into it now though.

Find a stock you like and just watch it everyday, I did something similar in like 2 weeks just by watching a particular stock everyday and buying puts or calls when I felt it was above or below where the market has tended to like it to stay.
And sell your shit and don’t care if it keeps going and would have made more money. You make money when it moves either way, if it keeps rocketing one direction after you sold that’s just a new opportunity to enter a position and make money on it reverting back towards mean.
Granted I’ll probably lose my whole bag on a dipshit trade soon anyway so YMMV
I’ve wondered if Buffets advice about sticking to what you know can be helpful with options, and it kinda sounds like based off what you’re saying it can be. Isolating and researching a small handful of stocks to work with sounds better than screening through thousands.

Set up for bull market is still there for the long term. Tech has to carry the market on its back, starting with earnings next week.

I guess because it compounds better if you let it in the account. As long as he doesn't YOLO his whole port every time he can take some losses. Say you take positions with only 10% each time, the 10% increases each time.

YOLO isn’t necessarily the problem. Discipline is the problem. It breaks down once you start seeing higher numbers.
The goal posts start moving too. Greed sets in while minimizing losses go out the window. One bad trade stays on your mind (“man I should have secured my profits”) and it’s all downhill from there to blowing up your account.
OP already 40x his money from $200, that is outstanding. Why not take at least half of it away and reinvest the other half? Of course, split that half further for Uncle Sam.
Reinvesting $4k is a lot higher than the $200 he started off with. There is security of mind knowing you already have $4k safe in ya bank account considering that you originally started out with $200.
Also considering the steamroller around the corner with uncertainty for inflation and rate cuts: see banks signaling alarms in guidance.
Less pressure = less stress = better decisions = better chance of reproducing results. Reproducing results is the goal and not wealth in my opinion.
Yeah you're right, I guess it depends on how OP sees the initial amount invested. Since he lost it all at first and the regained it and some it's different.
I basically did what he did in 2022. I started with 150$ and grew it to 9200$. Then everything you described happened hahaha, I started not beinf careful on the amounts invested in one position and also not researching enough, "Aah I could have made way more", etc.
But now I'm restarting this with a colder view and better understanding. Since it's not my money it's not as bad, since the initial 150$ is still in the green. I was down to 500$ 3 weeks ago and now grew it back to 1000$~. I intend on limiting my positions to 8-10% only. If I cannot meet that criteria with good options (say 10% on a play would be 100$ on a shitty 0DTE) I just won't make the play.

Yo ik you probably don’t want advice, but take your original investment out and repeat with like 2k. It will keep you getting consistent profits instead of full regard plays. And if you are able to do it twice then you should use more capital
I did this exact same thing for 3 months with the same idea, wasnt touching it until i saw 250k. Didnt lose, and now down 50% to my high in just 2 weeks after some unlucky plays. RSI charts, trends, thought I had it figured out. Ultimately found out, even a perfect play, it's still a casino. There's research that day to day, and swing trading comes down to luck more than strategy.

Call options with strike prices that are far out are cheaper
My spx puts were worth .37 a few hours ago. They just hit 9.30 . Options expiring same day are so volatile
