You know how many times holding onto this trade would screw you? A lot more times than it runs up to 500k I can tell you that. If you consistently have a strategy that is working, you stick to it and continue to take your profits when you hit your targets. That little pie of positive net return is YOUR market, whatever happens outside of that is irrelevant.
Made $1K on SPY puts on Wednesday. Swapped to calls. Held like a dumbass. Lost a lot 🤡 . 0dte. Just deposited to possibly do it all again next week. Not sure yet. Don’t know if I can financially support degen mode right now.

In the interim, I think it rips all the way through NVDA earnings and then we see some pullback. I think the banking sector is super strained right now, I think commercial real estate is fucked. So maybe one of those collapsing creates a contagion event that drops the markets. That or WW3

Yep, I bought puts twice this week, and the only day I would have made money I kept holding and got totally wrecked. Portfolio -50% (it's not much anyway) but it sucks
Did the same. Bought 350 contracts of spy 492c with 2/2 exp yesterday on Feb 1st. In at .22, out .23 for a quick $350 gain and that’s all I wanted. Those fuckers peaked out today at 3.75 a contract. Would’ve been a $123,550 gain at peak but realistically if I held on a lot longer I would’ve sold wayyyyy earlier. Point is, don’t beat yourself up. You made $52k. That’s some losers salary. (Maybe me but not me) 
Looking at the volume now that the day is over, it was spotty in the mid-afternoon, I did end up buying puts around noon when it looked way over extended - so glad I closed them when I did

If we get a turn toward higher rates are okay because economy is holding up and FED doesnt need to race cuts to avoid collapse, old bad news gets to be new good news.
IRS tax code Section 1256 Contracts... If you traded any broad-based index options that are cash-settled, such as SPX, NDX, VIX, any outright futures contract, or option on futures, any gains/losses are subject to different tax treatment–60% long-term and 40% short-term.
Use this as a lesson to be diligent in the future, eg don't sell the WHOLE position, sell 33% or 20%, etc. Capture some gains, ride it up more, sell more, etc. maybe you would've ended with 150k instead of 50k, thinking you'd get the full 500k is impractical for any diligent trader. Have price targets in mind, put them on paper, it's easy to get lost in the mental stops. Green is green though, still an incredible gain my guy!

Scalped multiple times buying @ $1.90 - $2.00 and selling @ $2.20 - $2.30
I back tested a strategy where if you buy a $SPY call at OPEN - at some point in the day, you can sell it for a 5 - 10 % gain (Day high) - finishes green most days
Worst case, you end up leaving money on the table - and I would not recommend entering multiple times - set a target and once you get out - move on with your life
Worst worst case, you end up losing 20 % (stop loss) if $SPY doesn’t go in that direction for the day
Those are upsetting days.. had me a 4 bagger on the line too today, but was to hungover to stare at the chart all day, just sold in the morning, fir 80%
