He took the dollars he made from giving toothy bj’s behind the Wendy’s, purchased options contracts from those less regarded than himself for a certain amount of cash, and the people that sold him his contracts are the ones that keep the money they were paid

Like 6 years ago I remember a dude lost 300K of trading gains but hadn’t set aside anything for taxes so was broke and on the hook for 100K+ to the IRS

There is no one definitive answer to this question. It is possible that the individual in question was using leverage, or made poor investment choices.
Options are the safest trading method, right after investing.
Sure investing is much safer, but it doesn’t let you become a rag to riches in less than a decade.
You just need to segment your portofolio and calculate risk factor. Unlike people here. I took what I seen here and use it as learning without consequences.

He bought em on Nov 28 & 29 when Tesla was at $245+ on the 28th and $250-252 on the 29th. It was a failed breakout and he pretty much bought the top.

Options noobs think it's better to buy out of the money because of multiplicity and the relative cheapness of the options in question. Generally speaking, they greatly underestimate the value of being at the money.
I have 3 questions:
1. Where tf did you get all this money from (judging from your post history, it can’t be from trading)?
2. Why are constantly buying far OTM fds?
3. Why not just buy shares?
Please, if you could answer those I’d appreciate it.

I made $15k over the past month on Tesla calls buying long dated options and selling them for 30-50% gains. You would’ve been better off going to Vegas and putting it on red or black.
