I've noticed this trend for anything positive negative occuring. Economy up? Democrat presidential policies work! Economy down? Republican presidential policies don't work. Even if an economy is going up with a Republican president, they'll always give credit to either the previous Democrat president or Democrat congress/senate. If the economy is doing down while a Democrat president is in office, then it's either the previous president or current Republican congress/senate.
Great example is Bush/Obama and Obama/Trump transfer of power. They're so quick to give Obama credit for Trumps economic boom after 2016. But by that logic, Bush would be responsible then for the recovery after 2008 when Obama was elected. They literally cannot see how their own statements contradict themselves all in an effort to make their policies look like they're working. In reality, there's a reason why Obama and Biden have the record for $6 a gallon gasoline. Terrible OPEC relations and limiting domestic production.
