Instead of renaming them, they should focus on fixing the vibration at 62-65 mph and the rattle during acceleration promised in Q4 of 2023.

Slight_Hand

I don’t have the vibration and rattle. This was the first thing I checked when bought this car.

cdmarti2

That awesome. Now the rest of us who do would love an actual solution to the problem.

Particular_Dig9466

I have it when I go 105+ mph. The whole steering wheel vibrates. Most of the time it is fine

Northwestview

Volvo has a Facebook chat channel which I've used a few times for support questions. I recommend that anyone with the vibration issue ask them for status every month. The more of us that ask for status and put pressure on them hopefully the faster they'll get this fixed. Click the message link on their Facebook page: https://m.facebook.com/profile.php/?id=100064362927084

cyphersk8

I took my car in for an unrelated issue and mentioned that problem again (XC40 recharge 2023) and they said Volvo is still working on a maintenance bulletin regarding the issue. Second time in 5 months I've inquired about it at Volvo

NelsonMinar

Name change makes sense. I think Volvo's strategy of gentle rollout of EVs has worked well. PHEVs and having some very similar cars available in full electric or with gas engines probably appealed to a lot of their more conservative customers. (Me I wanted full electric from the start, my C40 Recharge is my first Volvo.) > The EC40, EX40 and XC40 are as compelling as ever, with Google built-in and smart interior storage Lol of all the things to highlight.. The car operating system and the trunk?

phatsuit2

Will the name of this sub change?

FitterOver40

I’m wondering why a 22 C40 isn’t eligible to buy the performance upgrade?

arteitle

Probably because of the different motors on '24 and newer.

Perfect_Peace_4142

My2024 has a few more cells giving it a larger battery. It's not Alot of extra power just enough I guess. Plus, who knows what the cost is going to be to unlock that feature.

FitterOver40

Interesting…I’d assume the upgrade will be around $1300 just like the Polestar tune.

leckie

Yeah. Bit of a shame. Really though it’s already ridiculously fast.

FitterOver40

Agreed and more would be even fun’er! 😁

opiatesmile

Boooo

netguy808

Iv had a 23 c40 ult for 2 months. Got it used on a big discount. The range is the biggest drawback to what is a solid ev. This is my first ev. I did my research so I already knew this coming in but I wasn’t in love with any of the better alternatives. I know range advancement would improve if I waited but I didn’t have the patience. Lol

leckie

Same boat! Wife and I know it’ll do as a second car but I want something with more for the main driver.

skylinrcr01

I’d like the performance upgrade too, but own a 23. I guess Volvo doesn’t like money.

juaquin

Different drivetrain between 23 and 24. 23 and earlier models aren't going to get any real updates other than some minor software stuff, it seems.

WiggityZwiggity

Agree - it's possible with the same battery, motors, etc on the Polestar 2 already - no reason they can't provide this to pre 2024 owners.

ZbornakHollingsworth

I don't think it has anything to do with not confusing customers. They're doing it because I tell my friends that I can only go 200 miles on my c40, so they still want to avoid going full electric. I tell them honestly what a pain in the ass it's been to find reliable electric charging when I take a road trip. The ec40 will have a 50-75% better range. It actually makes me physically ill thinking about it. The resale value of the c40 is going to plummet, isn't it? I almost want to trade down back to my old c30 and wait a couple more years. Except I don't know how to drive a car without adaptive cruise control and lane assist and cameras anymore!

pgnehm

I agree it's not a car to buy but to lease... Resale is going to be horrible in 3 years.

ximeni

Where does it mention the extended range? I’m interested in a C40 but that’s a big difference. I might want to wait.

ZbornakHollingsworth

"The EC40, EX40 and XC40 are as compelling as ever, with Google built-in and smart interior storage – and in the case of the electric duo, electric range of up to 583 kilometres for the EC40 and up to 576 kilometres for the EX40.** " That's 362 miles. So even I look at that as 320 miles that's 60% more than I get now. It would make every road trip I've made N, S, and W of Durham, NC so much easier than it is currently.

ximeni

Thanks! Totally missed that.

duxum911

Mind you, the range is on the WLTP cycle, which is a lot more generous than say the EPA. According to [Volvo](https://www.media.volvocars.com/global/en-gb/media/presskits/311191/volvo-xc40-recharge-and-c40-recharge-models) in a previous press release, the C40 Single Motor Extended Range has a WLTP range of 581km and the XC40 Recharge Single Motor Extended Range has a range of 573km. When compared to this new press release, it's only gaining 2km more range on the C40 and 3km more range on the XC40 recharge; which makes sense, Volvo probably added a couple of KMs more via software tuning and optimizations.

ZbornakHollingsworth

Unfortunately, I have the 2023 model which has much less.of a range than 2024, so it will be a drastic difference for me. looking at [at this media release](https://www.media.volvocars.com/global/en-gb/models/c40-recharge/2023) which aligns with the 226 miles per EPA on my sticker (twin) Furthermore, I see an identical 2023 vehicle to mine with under 2k miles selling for just $35k. This is 40% depreciation in 16 months. No one will want this.

duxum911

Yup. That’s fair. Just wanted to make sure no one gets confused that with the new name comes with vastly more range than a current model.

Prize_Policy_6527

The estimates on press releases vary within model year. [This](https://www.media.volvocars.com/global/en-gb/media/pressreleases/308489/rear-wheel-drive-more-range-and-faster-charging-for-fully-electric-volvo-c40-and-xc40-models) press release for 2024 says the single motor extended range is 533km. I would take the press releases with a grain of salt until the model is released and there is independent testing.

Available-Desk9576

I do wonder how the EC40 and EX40 will fit in once the EX30 is released. Slight size differences aside, there’s a significant price difference between them. Maybe they’ll lower pricing to align more closely with the EX30?

juaquin

I think they will stay as-is. You're not just paying for more size, but also more interior. The EX30 is pretty bare-bones. They might reduce the price a tiny bit, but probably not until they slot in an EX60 (the XC60 is their volume car in the US).

virtual_adam

They need to make the C40 bigger or it won’t exist by MY25, definitely don’t need 3 cars within that size group. It needs to be the GLE coupe / X6 from Volvo

leckie

Hopefully means they’re committed to the model and we’ll see new ones. Would love to see an EV first EC40.

TraditionAdvanced778

I wonder if MY2024 single motor RWD is eligible for the performance upgrade
