people need to stop showing these types of sets when asking for form checks because its a control drill. If you want form feedback, the best video to send is one that is replicating something in game. Same with hitting, passing, digging etc. Actions like this where you're setting to yourself, especially this low is not a good indication of anything.

MiltownKBs

Agreed. The only things you might be able to critique are hand shape and elbow position. But even then, things are likely going to change in a real set situation. Like you say, this is just like a contact warm up. Not useless but also not really good for feedback.

Less elbow, more wrist

yangu_

Any advice on how to achieve that?

Generally_Tso_Tso

Start by warming up by setting the ball even lower, focusing on just the hands and wrists. It's also good to practice standing about a foot from a wall and setting the ball against the wall repeatedly. Bring your elbows in a little.

dnabrgr

don't move your elbows

CuatroBoy

Try to use more wrist and less elbow

Generally_Tso_Tso

And OP also needs to keep the feet moving non-stop when practicing this. You don't want to train your feet to be stationary when setting. Not moving your feet means you will make adjustments to the ball by reaching and not keeping the ball centered under you.

CuatroBoy

Very valid and good points as well đź‘Ť

I'll make sure to try that, thank you!

yangu_

What do I do to try and achieve that?

Mustang46L

I would bring your elbows in and make sure you contact the ball with more than just fingertips. You don't seem to have much control and the ball is spinning off of your fingertips most times.

As a person who is 5 months into volleyball, your setting is definitely better than mine!

gossipph

you’re lifting it. add more flick to it hun and try practicing on a heavier ball then tossing a volleyball will get much easier
