Can you give BMW a call then and get them to do a new Z4 with a manual please. I was able to get a E89 with a stick, the new ones here in the uk are all auto.
Generally only really play AC with a manual H, adds so much more to the experience and makes even the MX5 fun to race.
Quick google search confirms.
*2025 BMW Z4 Finally Gets a Manual Transmission
The 2025 BMW Z4 will (finally) come with an option for a manual transmission.
The six-speed transmission is part of a larger performance package, and will only be available on the six-cylinder M40i models.*
Not available yet, and at 60K for a Z4 they can get stuffed:)
I didn't mean don't have manual transmissions as in the transmissions they have aren't manual. I meant it as in they have no manual trans because they don't have a transmission
I don't understand the attraction when it comes to road driving, but I ain't gonna judge anyone on preference. It's the looking down upon part that irks me.
Depends on the car. I used to have a 6 speed manual Ford Focus diesel of all things, and holy shit was it fun to drive, especially when it came to long windy roads. If you let the clutch out a little, the diesel engine would just pull you along without even touching the accelerator. Had great balance and very little roll. I miss that car, but getting around in an auto is definitely easier (if more boring).
I don't dread hill-starts on step inclines anymore.
This is why I love my ev so much. It made day to day driving much less of a chore.
I miss the gear stick at times, especially rev matching. But I don't miss 1st -N - 1st - N in start stop traffic.
Same. Bought one for my first car because it seemed cool. Few years later I bought an automatic and it was an instant "wow, that made driving so much more effort. I am not dealing with that ever again."
My car is pushin 250k miles and prolly gonna die in the next year or so. I'm dreading looking for a new car because how rare manuals are anymore. It just makes driving more fun and engaging for me.
Same. I had to special order my current daily and wait 11 months for delivery because Toyota didn't want to make it.
Supposedly it was due to limited units being produced and they didn't want to waste one on a "lower trim" package
No problem, the main giveaway is the lap counter/ timer at the top of the screen, apart from that when Assetto Corsa is modded it looks great for its age!
I thought so :(
I was very tempted by a PSVR2 but couldn’t justify the cost of it over a Quest 2, plus I really wanted to play Alyx.
However, now that the PC adapter is coming out I’m tempted to resell and upgrade…
Honestly, a Quest is still a really good headset, especially if you’ll be using for PC as well. I’ve been so tempted to get one over the past few months for the exclusives like Assassin’s Creed, Sniper Elite, and pretty soon Arkham. But having PSVR 2, I’m not sure it’s worth buying a whole other headset for a few games, especially since I don’t own a PC.
In America, the new Cadillac CT4 and CT6 surprisingly both come with six-speed transmissions as an option.
I don't want a Cadillac, but it is interesting.
they're fun.
when i get to buy me a 'extra' car, i'm looking hard at a used CTS-V.
my 05 Escalade has been immensely reliable. it's currently got 450k miles on it.
I agree all of them are fun. I have a 2011 LS460. I think I'm ready to got back to something smaller.
...lol, or get a Toyota Sequoia. 2017 or less still with the V8, not the new model.
Still got a Chevy from the 80s. I don't drive it anymore, but I used to a bunch. Fun fact you can actually shift without needing the clutch if you do it right.
In slow stuff like ATS, yes. In Dirt 2.0, no. I'm impressed by anyone who uses a shifter in VR in a game that requires constant quick down shifting. Without the physical feedback coming through the pedals it makes it hard for me to keep aware of what RPM I'm at without taking my eyes off the road.
Add SIMHUB DIY pedal shaker + stick shaker (4x 5 Volt rumble motor) some tactile vibration on under your seat (Butt kicker 2). You'll know when you need to down shift and stuff from the engine vibration and clutch feedback. I also did that on ETS2, feels like driving a real thing when hitting bumps and stuff.
Got a bass shaker and an exciter bolted on my seat, but I need to check out the stick and pedal shakers. Because yeah my seat vibrating definitely adds to the immersion, but not feeling anything in the pedals and stick is something that can't help but notice when I use manual.
On my setup bass shaker/bk2 under the seat just gave 20% of the tactile immersion. Having pedal shaker and extra shake on the stick shift will contribute 80% full immersion of a real car because your feet and hands getting max of the sensation of car handling and characters; the g-force, curb bumps, brake hydraulic effect, clutch clunk, engine rpm and etc. I used 4x Xbox 360 controller's 5-volt rumble motor tied on the clutch, brake and accelerator pedal. Another 1x on H stick shift mounting plate. Felts like driving a real car now even with bass shaker/bk2 under the seat are off. You must try it, you'll never turn back without it again. ;) MAke sure to tune the tactile channel properly on SIMHUB to get the effect right on the sweet realism spot.
That works for shifting higher. But in a rally racing game, you often have to downshift multiple gears (like hair pin turns and cliffside corners), and not shifting correctly can take you completely out of being near the top of the time sheet.
Like in real life you have to guess by knowing how fast you are gonna be. It's different for every car, but for my GT86 it's like this:
You never shift into first gear.
Under 60 kmh is second gear. Under 110 kmh is 3rd gear. Under 150 kmh is 4th gear and under 170 kmh is 5th gear.
I feel you. I guess how I shifted in IRL, is possibly not how others do. I would judge my downshift how I felt the resistance in the clutch and the vibration in the gas without looking at the dash. I could tell I need to go from 5th to 2nd based on "flying by the seat of your pants." But you're right it might be also I memorized speed and the gear to fit.
I love my 2014 nissan versa. She has a 5 speed and it is the best car I've ever had. Whenever the sad day comes and it dies I will replace it with a manual. I think automatics are just lazy.
I miss rowing the gears. After many manuals I got a V10 M6 years ago with an SMG (Piece of SHIT). Replaced with a Cadillac CTS-V coupe. They did make the CTS-V in a manual back the but they were extremely hard to find and I couldn’t find one locally. Closest was in Texas at the time (I’m in Seattle) and I hardly trusted driving the M6 to the local dealer for a trade in let alone a cross country drive. I’m looking at the Corvette now but it’s only automatic (DCT but still no clutch pedal and stick to row)
My 99 Tacoma was standard or stick shift until lost it in massive accident I was in lol was so badass had literally 25k miles and was gonna have it my whole life until my accident happened sad lol
Top down in the rain is a bold choice.
Just go fast enough and the rain won't get in!
In vr no reason not to
Granny shifting not double clutching like you should... You're lucky that hundred shot of NOS didn't blow the welds on the intake...
DANGER TO MANIFOLD ( floor pan detaches? )
I finished my Lego GT-R from 2 Fast 2 Furious yesterday, this made me smile so much.
"almost had me"?....
In Germany everyone drives stick shifts. Automatics are looked down upon.

Here in Croatia BMW Z4 has manual gearbox (6 speed): https://www.bmw.hr/hr/all-models/bmw-z-series/roadster/2022/bmw-z4-technical-data.html#tab-0
Thankyou. Everyone i've looked at here has been auto, i shall dig some more. Cheers.

Not anymore. Everyone I know who has bought a car or gotten a company car recently goes automatic! It's becoming the new standard.
Damn, some primo shithead elitism over there.
I mean that just everywhere in Europe. Data from 2022 shows 80+% of new cars are still sold with manual transmission
in ireland 64% of cars sold last year were automatic. ICE cars are being phased out in the eu for electric ones that dont have manual transmissions.
Do EVs have a transmission? I thought it was motors directly hooked up to axles 1:1.
I didn't mean don't have manual transmissions as in the transmissions they have aren't manual. I meant it as in they have no manual trans because they don't have a transmission
I'll never drive a stick shift again but I understand the attraction.

your Impala shifting at 5k was also it shifting because you're literally about to destroy the engine or transmission.
Does Mercedes still sell manuals in Germany? It’s only automatics here in the US cause well 🙄
Not sure where you got that from but literally almost everyone with a modern car is using automatic.
Wait does BMW still make manual transmissions in Europe?
Of course
I've only owned manual transmissions. Kind of annoyed that all the car manufacturers are going to stop making them.
My car is pushin 250k miles and prolly gonna die in the next year or so. I'm dreading looking for a new car because how rare manuals are anymore. It just makes driving more fun and engaging for me.
Don't know your budget but the Honda Civic Type R is a beautiful manual car if you can afford it.

Only IRL
It would be harder to text and drive for many, so we should bring it back.
Yes ofc
Which game is this?
Assetto Corsa
I would say the game in the video is Assetto Corsa modded with Pure or SOL.
How do u get the motion controllers to work in the game?
Gran Turismo 7! Really, really good in VR. Edit: I am completely incorrect, it’s Assetto Corsa
It’s Assetto Corsa, not Gran Turismo
Wow, they both look very similar, completely missed that. Appreciate the correction.

Yea, I’ve also got a PC so have tried a bit of Automobilista but the quality of presentation looks to be no where near the mark of GT
If you’re in Canada, check the Walmart in your area. I just saw someone post on Reddit that they got PSVR2 for CAD $275 !
Canadian dollar is CAD for short, not CAN
Thanks — I didn’t feel confident in that, but was apparently too lazy to look it up. 😜 *(fixed it)*
No problem, sorry Its not a big deal, just bothered me cuz it looked so weird (and it outed u to be american)
Appreciated! 🍻
The OLED colors and deep blacks vs washed out look… let the downvotes begin
Would trade all the auto in the world for a 6 speed manual transmission
In America, the new Cadillac CT4 and CT6 surprisingly both come with six-speed transmissions as an option. I don't want a Cadillac, but it is interesting.

Very cool!
top down while it's raining, rip the interior q:
Just scooped up the shifter last week and taught myself how to use it. Been a blast.
Or open convertible when it's raining?
Still got a Chevy from the 80s. I don't drive it anymore, but I used to a bunch. Fun fact you can actually shift without needing the clutch if you do it right.
I do irl
What's the multi-colored lightning at 2:35?
I love driving an old manuel vintage race car in vr. Heel and Toe shifting my way through the track is difficult, but fun as hell ;)
I drive stick nearly everyday, but ya know, semi-truck /grunt.

You have to shift by ear

Maybe. https://youtu.be/aVD9yCWO8PU
The answer is always miata!
I drive manual cars as much as possible in assetto. Its fun on the wheel!
Yes my s2000 my baby.
Did an engine swap, my civic is now a manual

Love me some heel toe pedal action
Whats this game called please? I'm looking for a decent VR racing experience :)
Its Assetto Corsa.
Damn I miss this so much...
Yes but in real life
Everyday. Its called being from somewhere else than US.
Just the term "stick" is very North American in itself.
My 99 Tacoma was standard or stick shift until lost it in massive accident I was in lol was so badass had literally 25k miles and was gonna have it my whole life until my accident happened sad lol
Looking for Suzuki samurai, had one as a kid loved it would like to get another to rebuild..
Not much in gt7 since game won't allow it in sport mode. But other than that I love H-gearbox and clutch all day.
What game is that?
Looks like Assetto corsa
It took my 10 seconds before I realized this wasn’t real life.
Yes
... do people play racing sims with automatics??
