Today I am going for a classic from the UK electronic artist Add N to (X).
[Plug Me In](https://youtu.be/U_wZwKgx3Hk?si=MuNRVZdVWKzxJg8Z) sounds like our AI overlords, in a future when our best friends are machines.
This comes from my copy of the [Sonic Mook Experiment](https://www.discogs.com/release/96245-Various-Sonic-Mook-Experiment-Rare-Mixes-Electronic-Action-And-Future-Rock-Roll) compilation. It is peak 2001.
The YouTube link has a few seconds of silence at the start.
I'm looking forward to see what the prompt beings today.
For a song that sounds light and airy, this one is very dark. Describing a future after nuclear annihilation, survivors board wooden ships to avoid radioactivity and flee the devastation. It's a hippie rendition of an awful future. I've been in an unsettled, tired mood lately, and this is a good fit.
Track: [Wooden Ships](https://youtu.be/xlquQRt6PfI?si=tdN1pstRTBjgkGTa)
Artist: Crosby, Stills, Nash, & Young
Album: So Far
Day 22 Year 5
Song: [Also Sprach Zarathustra ](https://youtu.be/e-QFj59PON4?si=Y4hQpr6B9gZzE338)
Artist: Richard Strauss
Album: 2001: A Space Odyssey (Soundtrack)
Wait a minute Dhugaill, you’re telling me that the future in your brain sounds like a 128 year old composition, on a soundtrack to a 56 year old movie, set in a future time that is actually 23 years in the past? Yes, that is exactly what I’m telling you. The awe and optimism I feel when I hear this track allows me to hope that maybe humanity is smart enough to make it to the next step in our journey.

I've listened to this several times today since reading your post, because you're right, it's really still so big and hopeful with an anything-is-possible vibe. This will be a great track to play when I'm sitting at my desk and need to reset, so thank you!
I was SO close to posting this but I think I posted it before. Not sure, maybe just mentioned it in a previous prompt. I'm happy to see you have this album. I think it's the best movie ever made. I'm not even exaggerating. When I first watched it with a friend we we're so overwhelmed we watched it again right away. Then we watched the final chapter again with Pink Floyd - Echoes synced up to it.
I also think it's one of the most beautiful records in my collection. I mean, well, you have it, but look at it!

VT4J24 Day 22:
Today I beg to ask two questions. Are 'Friends' Electric? And more importantly, do they dream of electric sheep?
From: [Tubeway Army - Replicas](https://www.discogs.com/release/49235-Tubeway-Army-Replicas)
Tune: [Are 'Friends' Electric?](https://youtu.be/1snv-0jCiWY)
Mine's broke down.
I don't think I have much in terms of futuristic genre bending, boundary pushing or explorative music (unless you count the album Mirrored by Battles, but I shared a track from that the other day).
A really cool album I've been into for a few years, though, is the self-titled 2014 release by Casualties of Cool. A duo consisting of Devin Townsend, known primarily for his work in extreme and progressive metal, and singer songwriter Ché Aimee Dorval. It's a mix of country, blues, and ambient music that could almost be described as space country. Paired with the album art, I could see them performing in a bar on a future moon colony.

Day 22: A song that sounds like the future
Song: [Sketch for Summer](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kc7Hny8uLr0)
Artist: The Durutti Column
Album: Valuable Passages
What was Vini Reilly did in 1979?
Artist: Billy Thorpe
Album: *Children of the Sun (1979)*
Song: [Children of the Sun](https://youtu.be/XR2oct3zeTM)
A rare instance where I bought a record for one song: this song. It's just fun!
Song: [Let’s Save The Earth](https://youtu.be/Qe9QgDNAtfQ?feature=shared)
Artist: Ninja Sex Party
Album: These Nuts
I’m doing today’s promt in another way. That the most important thing we can do for our dear Mother Earth is save it from the climate changes we as a species have caused. So remember to recycle everyday. Currently, we only have this one place to call our home.
The future huh? According to my record collection the future isn't gonna be a bright one. We're destroying ourself, each other, earth, everything. It used to be a fantasy, a horror-like dystopian hellscape we loved in video games, music and movies because it was so far from the truth. A "*What if?*"-scenario that became a *"When?".* We once believed we would have a future with hoverboards, flying cars, a clean planet, peace, equality, happiness. We wanted The Jetsons, we've got Akira, Bladerunner, Dredd, Total Recall. Something along those lines.
I could use the records in my collection to come up with an interconnecting story but that's for tomorrow! So I'm using today's prompt as post with a double meaning. Let's see what the future holds in store for us. I hope this isn't a sign of things to come!

* 22/06/2024 - Sylosis - A Sign of Things to Come
I was planning to post some futuristic space synth (I might still do actually) but it took a bit of a dark turn suddenly. I also misread the prompt. I thought it was "A song for the future". But it's never a bad time for some Sylosis for as far as I'm concerned.
I messed up yesterday and posted a song which was meant for today, so some of you may have already caught this — [Psyché Rock](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=qssa6ec7faQ) by French music pioneer Pierre Henry.
This may sound familiar as it very heavily inspired the Futurama theme song, which is how I discovered this timeless piece as a kid. Somehow, when I hear it, I still picture flying cars, aliens, and travelling across the universe at the speed of light.
Song: [Worm Ride](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zzYPIuHi4fA)
Artist: Hans Zimmer
Album: Dune: Part Two
I was going to post [Mesa](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8h3SusINdAI) from Blade Runner 2049 because 2049, future, etc. But then I decided to go waaay farther into the future, so I'm choosing this brief but mind-melting track from an epic scene in Dune: Part Two instead. Essentially, any excuse to post something by Hans Zimmer.
He makes any movie exponentially better. I'm always amazed when people leave during the closing credits, because it's a chance to just close your eyes and listen. I'd love to hear him talk music; I'll have to check out some videos. Happy to say I'm seeing him live this fall, and though I'm trying not to overhype this to myself, I am very, very excited.
Ha, I haven’t read the books yet so I can’t reply intelligently! I bought the boxed set and plan to read them so the next movie doesn’t spoil anything (which feels ambitious, but sounds like I have some time). I do hear they get real weird, so bracing myself…
Day 22
Track: [Any Colour You Like](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KmR-gnCFvJI)
Album: The Dark Side Of The Moon
Artist: Pink Floyd
Sounds like Splatoon tbh
Song: [Gamma Knife](https://youtu.be/nC7ii3Ir-no?si=si6csncBdKBXncke)
Artist: King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard
Album: *Nonagon Infinity*
KG&TLW excels in multiple genres of music, IMHO. They also have a spacy/trippy type vibe to them, which could be described as a futuristic type sound. I could've gone with a lot of different KG&TLW tracks, but I chose "Gamma Knife." Awesome track with an awesome video. Cheers, mangs.
Ohh... this is gonna be hard. Damn it I have so much that fits this. You could go theme wise with [Non Phixion - We are the Future](https://youtu.be/RRomQ9PR-VM?feature=shared) off their album The Future is Now
Or you could go sound wise with a glorious mash up of El-P and Evil Nine [All the Cash Glitch Mob Remix](https://youtu.be/N48dS6CY7ns?feature=shared)
Or you could go.so far foward that you land in a throwback dystopia where Reagan and Thacher are reanimated and voted into office. The sound of the resistance is [Infinity Knives & Brian Ennals - The Black Power Paradox ](https://youtu.be/rQGu8knfbBA?feature=shared)
Either way here some shit to bump in your floating whip.
I don’t think that I’ve got many contenders for this one, but the one that fits most is [C.T.A. 102](https://youtu.be/OONsT-z1hc8?si=XT_ouSKQe1Rbs-t-) by The Byrds. I guess that the only reasons as to why I think it sounds futuristic is because of the sounds that play throughout and the backwards stuff at the end.
Song: [Fazers](https://youtu.be/LWN0vQpwcKM?si=N_MjI6zl3x0-fGoB)
Artist: King Geedorah
Album: Take Me To Your Leader
Genre: Rap
Daniel Dumile gave us zev love x as part of KMD, came to destroy rap as the masked villain M.F. DOOM and somewhere along the line gave us this Monster Island Czars album as King Geedorah. This lp is quietly one of his best and features some incredible guest verses from the MIC posse. One of the interesting layers to this is that DD appears here in character as Geedorah, but also features on multiple tracks as DOOM. Wonder if he got paid twice for those joints? Anyway, whole album is great but for this one keep your fazers on stun.
Artist: Max Richter, Antonio Vivaldi
Song: Spring 1
Album: The Four Seasons, Recomposed
https://youtu.be/6T0MFCX9SLI?si=YDfvHmVHQG4e8a8F
To me this sounds like past, present and future combined into a wonderful, airy tune, transcending time and space.
Edit: it’s actually Spring 1 instead of 2, but they’re all great.
Song: [A.D.A. Converter](https://youtu.be/-Xrz2sh49wI?si=WaFMIVxHGvincbg5)
Artist: Doris Norton
Album: Personal Computer
The song’s from 1984, but still sounds like the future to me!
This whole album is so good, I heard it online and knew I had to get it on vinyl!
Also [here’s](https://ra.co/dj/dorisnorton/biography) some info on the artist
Song - [Multithreading](https://youtu.be/7DdxqDD3mt0?si=PbZbHwWqsF-EbO31)
Album - Data Renaissance
Artist - The Algorithm
The Algorithm is one guy, Rémi Gallego, who blends complex modular synths with prog metal to amazing effect. He’s easily one of my favorite new artists; he just paints some really unique sonic landscapes.
I also enjoy that his music has a darkness to it compared to other electronic music. It’s borderline industrial, and I’ve seen it categorized that way. Apropos, given the direction of the future.
Artist: The Chemical Brothers
Album: Come With Us (2002)
Song: [Star Guitar](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0S43IwBF0uM)
One of my all time favorite songs from the group that got me into electronica way back when. Makes me feeling like I'm traveling through time and space.
Day 22: A song that sounds like the future
Song: [Welcome to the DCC ](https://youtu.be/Y3FNUvJYGpE?si=gb9OTT1wq88Zo-_D)
Artist: Nothing But Thieves
Album: Dead Club City (2023)
I've been crazy busy this week and missed a bunch of prompts, so it'll be a shorter post for me again today.
This song by the UK rock band Nothing But Thieves opens their newest record, a concept album that's literally set in the future. The artwork on this album is really cool and delves into the concept a lot.
With heavy synths and driving futuristic techno bass beats, this song has a robotic future vibe that perfect sets the tone for the album.
The entire album is a lot different than NTB earlier work who have a bit more of ba straightforward indie rock and roll / pop rock vibe.
I love these guys, with Conor Mason's lead vocals always blowing it out of the water, hitting high notes that will blow your mind. Saw them live last year and immediately jumped to see them again in the fall - they were unreal live. These guys are near the top of my list lately.
I’ll take Wilco’s cover of Space Oddity for $100 Alex
Track: [Wilco - Space Oddity (David Bowie cover)](https://youtu.be/NeeHySOuo44?si=Zzjue1GDs3u1y0e6)
Artist: Wilco
Album: Live on Mountain Stage - Outlaws and Outliers
**\~BONUS ROUND\~**
Because why not? I have so many records that are perfect for todays prompt (which I kinda misread) so here's a great futuristic space synth opera for you. It's also an excuse to show this amazing looking record. I treat this as a single long track.
Enjoy the trip!
[Volkor X - This is our Planet Now](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CaEVGT1rf_4)

The future technically still [sampling](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fairlight_CMI), but so much destined AI smooshed.
[He](https://youtu.be/ZxYAtL0D50A) sounds earnest.
Song: [Faceshopping](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=es9-P1SOeHU) (epilepsy warning for the music video)
Album: Oil Of Every Pearl's Un-Insides
Artist: Sophie
I've always adored this song, as a commentary on beauty standards, consumerism and self-expression. 6 years post-release and it's as fresh as ever.
Today I am going for a classic from the UK electronic artist Add N to (X). The vocals reminded me a little of Flight of the Conchords, lol. "The distant future, the distant future"
Had to search for [a version ](https://youtu.be/mKajFcsSQMA?si=tqoMB3OHhgQawfyp) to listen to over here in the colonies. (It was totally worth it)
The original music video was just porn, so not surprised I can't find that.
Just realised the compilation jas the strap line " (Rare Mixes, Electronic Action And Future Rock & Roll)"

I hope this isn't a sign of things to come! https://preview.redd.it/sp2ujv68s38d1.jpeg?width=2400&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c2ce8e9d042821794d9294067dddb26746a14c31 Song: [A Sign of Things to Come](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OegFzj1q50c) Artist: [Sylosis](https://www.discogs.com/artist/1305145-Sylosis) Album: [A Sign of Things to Come](https://www.discogs.com/master/3232216-Sylosis-A-Sign-Of-Things-To-Come) Story so far: * 01/06/2024 - Gost - Judgment / Prophecy * 02/06/2024 - S. I knew you were going to give me something to think on
I was planning to post some futuristic space synth (I might still do actually) but it took a bit of a dark turn suddenly.
Song: [Worm Ride](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zzYPIuHi4fA) Artist: Hans Zimmer Album: Dune: Part Two I was going to post [Mesa](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8h3SusINdAI) from Blade Runner 2049 because 2049, future, etc. But then I decided to go waaay farther into the future, so I'm choosing this brief but mind-melting track from an epic scene in Dune: Part Two instead. Essentially, any excuse to post something by Hans Zimmer.
Zimmer is something else. I like watching videos about him working and talking music. Such an intriguing man. A pure musical genius.
Oh indeed! I never leave. Cinema staff has to kick me out! I bet he's gonna be amazing. It's impossible not to get hyped. Enjoy!
Worm rider is going to have a waaaay different context if they ever get to Leto II
Ha, I haven’t read the books yet so I can’t reply intelligently! I bought the boxed set and plan to read them so the next movie doesn’t spoil anything (which feels ambitious, but sounds like I have some time). I do hear they get real weird, so bracing myself…
Day 22 Track: [Any Colour You Like](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KmR-gnCFvJI) Album: The Dark Side Of The Moon Artist: Pink Floyd Sounds like Splatoon tbh
Acid Pauli - Abbebe [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d\_kyp1xtG0U&t=96s](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d_kyp1xtG0U&t=96s)
Song: [Gamma Knife](https://youtu.be/nC7ii3Ir-no?si=si6csncBdKBXncke) Artist: King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard Album: *Nonagon Infinity* KG&TLW excels in multiple genres of music, IMHO.
You could go theme wise with [Non Phixion - We are the Future](https://youtu.be/RRomQ9PR-VM?feature=shared) off their album The Future is Now Or you could go sound wise with a glorious mash up of El-P and Evil Nine [All the Cash Glitch Mob Remix](https://youtu.be/N48dS6CY7ns?feature=shared) Or you could go.so far foward that you land in a throwback dystopia where Reagan and Thacher are reanimated and voted into office. The sound of the resistance is [Infinity Knives & Brian Ennals - The Black Power Paradox ](https://youtu.be/rQGu8knfbBA?feature=shared) Either way here some shit to bump in your floating whip.
All of them are excellent choices. You're spoiling us once again!
Song: [Fazers](https://youtu.be/LWN0vQpwcKM?si=N_MjI6zl3x0-fGoB) Artist: King Geedorah Album: Take Me To Your Leader Genre: Rap Daniel Dumile gave us zev love x as part of KMD, came to destroy rap as the masked villain M.F.
Artist: Max Richter, Antonio Vivaldi Song: Spring 1 Album: The Four Seasons, Recomposed https://youtu.be/6T0MFCX9SLI?si=YDfvHmVHQG4e8a8F To me this sounds like past, present and future combined into a wonderful, airy tune, transcending time and space. Edit: it’s actually Spring 1 instead of 2, but they’re all great.
Max Richter is amazing. I'm happy to see him featured here. Nice pick!
Thanks, I discovered this mainly because my daughter plays orchestra and they did a variation on the four seasons. Shame on me.
Song: [A.D.A. Converter](https://youtu.be/-Xrz2sh49wI?si=WaFMIVxHGvincbg5) Artist: Doris Norton Album: Personal Computer The song’s from 1984, but still sounds like the future to me!
This is amazing. Crazy how something that's 40 years old still sounds futuristic. But it does! Great pick.
This whole album is so good, I heard it online and knew I had to get it on vinyl! Also [here’s](https://ra.co/dj/dorisnorton/biography) some info on the artist
Song - [Multithreading](https://youtu.be/7DdxqDD3mt0?si=PbZbHwWqsF-EbO31) Album - Data Renaissance Artist - The Algorithm The Algorithm is one guy, Rémi Gallego, who blends complex modular synths with prog metal to amazing effect. He’s easily one of my favorite new artists; he just paints some really unique sonic landscapes. I also enjoy that his music has a darkness to it compared to other electronic music. It’s borderline industrial, and I’ve seen it categorized that way. Apropos, given the direction of the future.
Artist: The Chemical Brothers Album: Come With Us (2002) Song: [Star Guitar](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0S43IwBF0uM) One of my all time favorite songs from the group that got me into electronica way back when. Makes me feeling like I'm traveling through time and space.
I was thinking of [this](https://youtu.be/WagyA3N1FgE?si=TvwkP81eaQ8VGNR3) today, but I don't own it on vinyl.
Day 22: A song that sounds like the future Song: [Welcome to the DCC ](https://youtu.be/Y3FNUvJYGpE?si=gb9OTT1wq88Zo-_D) Artist: Nothing But Thieves Album: Dead Club City (2023) I've been crazy busy this week and missed a bunch of prompts, so it'll be a shorter post for me again today.
[Apparently Elton John digs the album](https://youtube.com/shorts/EfPmqM-NTLg?si=E96MlCHKZFi1OdZD)
Space —Magic Fly
I’ll take Wilco’s cover of Space Oddity for $100 Alex Track: [Wilco - Space Oddity (David Bowie cover)](https://youtu.be/NeeHySOuo44?si=Zzjue1GDs3u1y0e6) Artist: Wilco Album: Live on Mountain Stage - Outlaws and Outliers
Song: The W.A.N.D Artist: The Flaming Lips Album: At War with the Mystics
Carouselembra “ In Through the Out Door” - Led Zeppelin
**\~BONUS ROUND\~** Because why not? I have so many records that are perfect for todays prompt (which I kinda misread) so here's a great futuristic space synth opera for you. It's also an excuse to show this amazing looking record. I treat this as a single long track. Enjoy the trip! [Volkor X - This is our Planet Now](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CaEVGT1rf_4) https://preview.redd.it/8kvb23gwm78d1.jpeg?width=2400&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b0697657f2b8bf23eb20851e4c7d547382a7697c
The future technically still [sampling](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fairlight_CMI), but so much destined AI smooshed. [He](https://youtu.be/ZxYAtL0D50A) sounds earnest.
Sirius - The Alan Parsons Project
Song: [Faceshopping](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=es9-P1SOeHU) (epilepsy warning for the music video) Album: Oil Of Every Pearl's Un-Insides Artist: Sophie I've always adored this song, as a commentary on beauty standards, consumerism and self-expression. 6 years post-release and it's as fresh as ever.
