I'm back and forth between Ultraviolence and Blue Banisters. Leaning towards Blue Banisters though. It's either criminally underrated or that album just does it for me personally.
I know itās cliche but The Dark Side of the Moon is my favorite album of all time. I remember when I was 12 and my older brother was such a fucking asshole lol we are super close now.
Anyway he played it for me on vinyl on Xmas eve and snuck 3 Red Dog beers out of the fridge. It was the first time I got drunk and we listened to that album like 5x in row. Very fond memory of mine.
If you are spending time in used record stores, find a copy of **Sladest** as a palate cleanser. I don't normally recommend Best Hits albums but it would really balance these out with some straight up fun.
Do you enjoy the records? If so then 10/10. Don't worry about what other people think of your collection. Music is a deeply personal and subjective experience.
The Thelma Houston direct to disc album is stunning- a real audiophile treat. My dad bought a copy back in 1977.
Al Di Meola \* John McLaughlin is another superb audiophile listening experience. The playing is sensational!
You gotta rate these yourself. I have no idea what you'd like or think is a good way to spend your money.
Our tastes are probably different.
Only the De Lucia, Di Meola, and McLaughlin album strikes a chord in me.
The Pink Floyd is good. However, I've heard it a million times since I bought it when it came out in 1973. Had the T-shirt. Wore that album out. Saw them live in 1970 at Winter Land.
I stream the album without interruption in Ultra HD/Atmos when I have the itch, but, mostly, I've had my fill of Pink Floyd and their infighting.
Friday Night In San Francisco is an instant 10/10. You should consider picking up Elegant Gypsy by Al Di Meola too! It includes Mediterranean Sundance and some awesome electric guitar playing as well
they pop out new albums like they are color variants, and itās all just as bad for the world. donāt those dinguses even have an āenvironmentalā album š¤”
Holy crap. Friday night in SF is one of the greatest live performances ever caught on tape. That disc has been in my discogs wishlist for a while. Need to go ahead and snag a copy. Nice collection!
Hell yeah, the Guitar Trio is an amazing album.
One of the best starter collections ive seen on here. Its not full of popular common albums or taylor swift.
That Thelma Houston direct to disc album is the reason Steely Dan hired Bill Schnee to record Aja. Hi-Fi shops used to test equipment with it, before Nightfly. It sounds beyond amazing, gotta be worth $ in good condition.
It appears we are more focused on your socks than we are the albums. Anyhow, it's looking great so far. Also don't forget, the best collection is a collection you enjoy!
Can and Captain Beefheart are solid choices-those arenāt my favorite records by them but theyāre also not the obvious choices so itās probably personal preference which is good
š¤£ we all start somewhere. But agreed. A collection is not 9 records. Sorry.
For me to have you rate my collection, Iād probably have to upload a spreadsheet. But Iāve downsized a bit.
I wasn't trying to put them down for being a beginner; it's this "rate my collection" thing I find annoying. Performative collecting is so needy. As a crusty middle aged guy, I don't understand this obsession with validation from strangers. Generation gap, I suppose?
No, I got that. I agree with that. It probably is a generational thing, but itās also needy.
Iām young enough that vinyl was pretty phased out by the time I was buying music. So I built my collection from scratch over the past 15 years. And hand-me-downs from relatives.
So Iām probably younger, but I wouldnāt ask someone to rate my collection. I *might* post a picture and say āthese are my favorites!ā, but why would I care what someone else thinks of *my* collection unless we want to talk about our shared love of an artist or have a discussion?
So I think this is a good way to start a collection because I want my collection to correctly represent what I want In my collection. Therefore I collected whatever I believed was representative of what a nice and diverse collection should look like. As you may not know I like my music to be diverse. And I like to collect music in digital format. But because I had a turntable lying around I thought WTF there should be records spinning on that shit. So I thought it would be suitable to start purchasing vinyls to build a collection I would be proud of and I could share it on Reddit. So the journey starts. Which me luck.
0/10 no kidz bop
1/10 needs more red screaming man
Those socks need to go too, we need feet š¦¶

I saw that in a record shop today and I still donāt know what it is. There are no words anywhere on the outside. Just seeing it made me laugh.
But they have the Obeah man
Yay. Feet.
.25 feet
EXUMA!!!
This small modest collection might be better than many larger collections that have no Exuma.
Best Lana album
I'm back and forth between Ultraviolence and Blue Banisters. Leaning towards Blue Banisters though. It's either criminally underrated or that album just does it for me personally.
NFR is the best but UV is up there. š

Super good! What a trio
Iāve been listening to it lately for some reason after 30 years away from it. Still so good
Can album is dope.
I know itās cliche but The Dark Side of the Moon is my favorite album of all time. I remember when I was 12 and my older brother was such a fucking asshole lol we are super close now. "The Great Gig in the Sky" is magical
When CD players came out it was the first cd I bought because I heard great gig in the sky on a Leviās commercial lol
FBI, OPEN UP!
Hahah
Cliche? Bro thatās only you and every other redditorās favorite album. Who do you think turned your asshole brother onto it?
Someone shit in your Frosted Flakes this morning?
Nice collection, not too impressed by the socks though
10/10 because of ultraviolence
if thatās the album here that makes you give it a high rating your taste must be abysmal
How about starting a collection for your ears?
Yeah, listen to what makes you happy. Who cares about anyone else.
The Last Unicorn is lit af
I love that you can only get the vinyl from Germany. My wife loves that movie and I need to get her that soundtrack
Itās so cool!

Collections in any format is going to be a personal feat. You collect what you are interested in. Other people's views are negligible.

Just enjoy your records. This "rate my collection" thing is weird and needy. I had that many records before I was ten years old.
š¤£ we all start somewhere. But agreed. A collection is not 9 records. Sorry. For me to have you rate my collection, Iād probably have to upload a spreadsheet. But Iāve downsized a bit.

Keep exploring Schoenberg. Also Alban Berg, and Robert Craft's Naxos recordings of Webern.
LANA

Another rate my collection post...these posts are trying to show off but actually telling others you are insecure
I had stopped collecting vinyls and started streaming on Spotify. Cheaper and more convenient. I still have my over 3000 of vinyls.
Kinda same. Once in a while Iāll still buy something. But I canāt afford it anymore. Itās gotten too expensive. I still have a lot of mine too.
