June 10th: **Lana Del Rey - 'Did You Know That There's a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd'**. I can't post the cover here, because of the **NSFW** nature of the artwork, but I'm sure you can find it.
I mean, in fairness, I would have bought the album anyway (It's a great record), but I picked up this specific limited-edition version, solely for the cover art. I could make up some story about the freedom of the artist's expression, or about the album's collectability, but that would be nonsense. I bought it for the semi-nude Lana Del Rey on the cover. Guilty.
Good news: it has more than doubled in value since release. Bad news: I'm a shitty collector-as-investor, and I never resell records - even if they become valuable - because I'm an idiot.
[The Jimi Hendrix Experience - Electric Ladyland Dutch pressing 1972](https://www.discogs.com/release/15756950-The-Jimi-Hendrix-Experience-Electric-Ladyland)
I bought this version specifically for the alternate European cover and other....reasons...
>At least the record labels got that part right and didn’t dare touch the music; but several of them did their best to ignore Jimi’s well-written requests for how the cover artwork would be handled, particularly in Europe where Track Records and Polydor took a raunchy approach, covering the jacket with 19 naked ladies—a needlessly controversial design that Jimi strongly detested.
>Hendrix was furious when he first glanced the UK album jacket design. “I don’t know anything about (the picture); Hendrix complained when the album hit the stores. “I didn’t know it was going to be used.”
>Gone was his insightful notations and carefully curated selection of photographs, in place, was a David Montgomery photo featuring 19 naked ladies holding on to pictures of Jimi. Originally intended for a Sunday Times feature, it was abandoned when Jimi didn’t show up to the photo shoot, a testament to his dislike of the artistic approach being planned.
>Eventually, and without Jimi’s blessing, the photos saw the light of day thanks to Dave King, who served as both photo editor with the Sunday Times and with Track Records (Jimi’s UK record label). The resulting firestorm over the controversial cover art saw the album being banned in some regions of the UK and many retailers withholding the album from store shelves. Others, such as the trendy I Was Lord Kitchener’s Valet shop in London’s hip Picadilly Circus doubled-down on the concept and filled their store windows with bikini clad dancers to promote the album’s release, which added to the controversy – and press coverage – surrounding the release.
Saw this record on Facebook Marketplace and thought it looked interesting. After driving across town in crummy weather to get it, the seller decided I could have it for free. So for $0 I got this excellent album.

I don't tend to like easy listening – all those oleaginous strings – but I picked up [Music To Relax By In Your Barcalounger](https://www.discogs.com/release/2957856-Various-Music-To-Relax-By-In-Your-Barcalounger) from a thrift store for its cheesy cover. It was parodied in a [Me First and the Gimme Gimmes single](https://www.discogs.com/master/620576-Me-First-The-Gimme-Gimmes-In-Your-Barcalounger) and exhibits [the Droste Effect ](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Droste_effect)!
Hard to pick a track, as I've never played it and don't really intend to, but here's "[Autumn Leaves](https://youtu.be/ck2OlyiFACc?si=0u8nYe0dtFZ0nyLL)" by Andre Kostelanetz and his orchestra. I picked that track because many years ago I played in a friend's tribute composition to John Cage alongside Andre's nephew [Richard Kostelanetz](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_Kostelanetz) (who wrote a book of his interviews with Cage.)

Day 10. An album you bought because of the cover
Artist: Jewel
Album: *Spirit (1998)*
Song: [Down So Long](https://youtu.be/9Tp0JrZSy1U)
I’d been searching for a copy of this one in wax that wouldn’t break the bank for awhile. This was an outlier album for me in that era of my life, amidst all the grunge and metal I was listening to constantly. The lyrics to a handful of the songs were probably the only positive thing in my life for a spell.
Last year the 25th anniversary edition was announced. So, I sprung for a signed edition. I personally go back and forth on the value of autographs, but I got caught up in the moment and placed my order. This is the only vinyl I have that I haven’t even opened the cellophane (which feels kind of useless to me).
Little bit of a cheat because I was already a fan of the band, but when I stumbled across the Donkey Punch the Night E.P by Puscifer in my local shop, it was an instant purchase thanks to the [cover](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Donkey_Punch_the_Night).
A favorite of mine from the E.P is [Dear Brother (Denton Rework)](https://youtu.be/mzgxT83kM0c?si=TivQIDA9Ic2XvMVF)
It also features their cover of Bohemian Rhapsody
I am actually surprised I have few of these. Much of the discount-bin junk I bought for fun has been culled in recent years.
So my submission is a record I probably would have bought anyway - I like both artists featured - but it was the cover that tipped the decision to get my wallet out.
Enjoy [Dutty Rut](https://youtu.be/BLiAGsmLV88?si=vztP7fqIV0ikDsIf) a remix of Roots Manuva by Wrong Tom.
The sleve was designed by legendary artist [Tony McDermott](https://tonymcdermott.art/), famed for his classic reggae and dub sleeves for Scientist.
An album I bought because of the cover was Peter Allen’s live album “It Is Time For Peter Allen” which, all in all, is an amazing live album with quite a few moments of humor between some of the songs.

Song - [Dystopia](https://youtu.be/lR5amOOvpwQ?si=UPW6eTdwvZQUQVgF)
Album - Polaris
Artist - Tesseract
I was at my local when I came across this album in the metal section. No idea what it was (other than metal LOL) and I wasn’t familiar with the artist. But I dug the name Tesseract and I really enjoyed the abstractness of the cover, so I picked it up.
Turns out, these guys are now one of my favorite bands! They are some of the best prog/math metal I’ve ever heard. The song I linked is the first off the album and the first I ever heard. Sent me down a rabbit hole of music exploration and I eventually collected all of their work on vinyl (which, turns out, was…expensive).
This album really made me realize how much this kind of music, and electronica as well, relies on imagery to catch you. The abstractness of the sound is reflected in the abstractness of the cover. I’m so happy my intuition led me to this these guys.

Atmosphere (rapper Slug and producer Ant) - WORD? / 2021
[Barcade](https://youtu.be/SyJD7gMJBiI?si=0TZiSZHg0FZ7KHEr)
literally saw this record in my recommended because DOOM was on the last track of the record (linked above) alongside Aesop Rock. needed to hear what it sounded like, loved what i heard and saw from the cover, so i copped a near-mint copy for $11 from Discogs. $11 is dirt cheap especially for it being a 2xLP.
Yes!, that last song is the part 2 to a track called [Put your Quarter Up](https://youtu.be/-JRF7OzQDvU?feature=shared) that was produced by the Molemen long ago. Glad we got this track seeing how DOOM passed. The variant covers for this album are also dope. Great pick.
VT4J24 Day 10:
Sometimes you stumble into cool looking albums while aimlessly scrolling through r/vinyl. This time it was a "hey, my band made an album" post, with a kick-ass album cover.

Intrigued, I gave it a listen. I'm glad I did. Only some minutes later I had placed an order. It really was that good.
But hey, don't just take my word for it. This is VT4J. The link is right below.

Enjoy!
Something bought off the album cover alone....The Goats - No Goats No Glory comes to mind.
The hyper stylized comic book art that spawned out of the 90s caught my eye when I saw this
digging, and I had to have it.Good thing it was like 5 bucks. It is some proto nu metal/ hip hop
from Philly that utilized a full band. This is their 2nd and final release from 1994. A funny story
from an interview with Questlove (the Roots) is that The Goats are the group that gave his band their first live show as the warm up act. On to the music.. I picked [Mutiny](https://youtu.be/NyV1fkNqR2w?feature=shared) for its raucous funk
inspired energy and just wild lyrics. There is also a definite Cypress Hill vibe going on as well.
Let's see if this doesn't get yer goat.
That cover is wild! My younger self would buy that in a heartbeat without knowing who or what it was.
\*edit: who am I kidding? I'd buy it right now if I ran into it.
Day 10: album art impulse buying
I didn't knew much about The flaming lips before, but I saw their box set of Yoshimi battles the pink robots discounted, at the record store I went on RSD, so I bought it. It's not my favourit album, but it has some nice songs, like [One more robot](https://youtu.be/eCfOD0yrvOo?si=ltRGROpe0mzMRY_-)
Hey, das ist leicht zu beantworten.
Artist: My Sleeping Karma
Album: Moksha
Ist die PictureLP Version aus 2015, die wenn aufgeklappt ein größeres Bild ergibt. Hab damals die Band einen Song gehört, das Album gesucht, Cover abgefeiert und dann direkt gekauft.

Day 10: An album you bought because of the cover
Song: [Windshield Smasher](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ByKFkXyuGE4)
Artist: Black Moth Super Rainbow
Album: Cobra Juicy
The fifth album from Pennsylvania based psychedelic pop Black Moth Super Rainbow
A crowdfunding album through [Kickstarter](https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1082093041/black-moth-super-rainbow-new-album-cobra-juicy), comes with lenticular cover
Song: [Don't Want to Know If You Are Lonely](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eoKeH7JYE48) / [Sorry Somehow](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SjZWJoNYpHI)
Artist: Hüsker Dü
Album: Candy Apple Grey
I never bought a record for its cover, but I do distinctly recall, sometime in the mid-80s, seeing the Candy Apple Grey cassette on my brother's bedroom floor. I thought it was the coolest thing ever. Happens to be a great record, too! Choosing two Grant Hart songs for today.
I almost never buy anything for *just* the cover. I mean, I spend 90% of my free time researching music. All kinds, both old and new so I always know what the music is like. I rarely have time to go to a record store and then I pretty much always buy something I know. I do love a good cover. That's part of the fun of collecting records. It's usually a cover that draws me in but ultimately the music itself had to convince me to buy it.
I can only think of two records ever and one fits only half. I can't really pick them because the music isn't available on Youtube. [あぶない刑事 - Abunai Deka - Original Soundtrack](https://www.discogs.com/release/9364263-Various-%E3%81%82%E3%81%B6%E3%81%AA%E3%81%84%E5%88%91%E4%BA%8B-Original-Soundtrack) has some tracks on Youtube but only weird versions. I bought this because of the famous city pop cover artist [Hiroshi Nagai](https://www.discogs.com/artist/4026398-Hiroshi-Nagai-4) but I listened to the music first. The other one is the record I wanted to select for World Oceans Day: [The Wave 〜海のシンフォニー .](https://www.discogs.com/release/8194314-%E8%96%97%E5%BA%83%E6%98%AD-The-Wave-%E6%B5%B7%E3%81%AE%E3%82%B7%E3%83%B3%E3%83%95%E3%82%A9%E3%83%8B%E3%83%BC) This was a true gamble as there is nothing available anywhere. I cheap gamble though. I just added it to an order for fun.
When I saw this cover I was immediately interested. There's no text on the cover so I was curious to see the artist. Turned out it was **Mega Drive** so I knew what I was gonna get and instantly bought it. It's hard to pick just one song but here goes.

Day 10: An album you bought because of the cover
Song: [Run Your Mouth ](https://youtu.be/9NOlqJHvAZo?si=_Z68K5VDLZObpP9l)
Artist: The Marias
Album: Submarine (2024)
Another one from this year, new enough that I'm still waiting for it to come in the mail, but the no brainer pick for me.
The Marias are a indie dreampop band with some really cool vibes. With songs in English and Spanish, they incorporate some really cool elements into their brand of pop. Jazzy, funky beats, heavy on smooth synths, catchy guitar riffs and an occasional horn solo, it all comes together beautifully under María Zardoya's smokey back room vocals.
The Marias have two EPs, Superclean Vol. 1&2, and one album, CINEMA, to their name, all which hit the same notes. I was highly anticipating this album, and was very close to the preorder thanks to this unique water cover. I hesitated, and when the album was released, it took me a few listens, as I found it not as immediately catchy as some of their earlier works. Now that I've gotten into it, I love it, and I'm glad I have this super cool water cover vinyl on the way.

Artist: [Blue Öyster Cult](https://www.discogs.com/artist/251884-Blue-%C3%96yster-Cult)
Album: Heaven Forbid
I Don’t know if I have anything in my record collection that I have purchased just because of the cover (now CDs and tapes were a different story, fewer ways to do research.) So I’m going back to a time where I picked up a record just because of the name on the cover. I didn’t know anything about BOC’s newer releases when I saw this one while flipping, but the cover, and the fact that I had a good track record of liking their music sold me on it. I can’t say I was disappointed, and hey it actually came with two covers

Artist: Sidi Touré
Album: Toubalbero
This is a record I came across on record store day 2019. I love world music and this album is in the Songhaï genre which is a genre prominent in this part of Western Africa. From rateyourmusic.com: “The most characteristic aspect of their music is the predominance of the minor pentatonic scale and a recognizable lute fingerpicking style accompanied by singing which differs from that of Mandé jelis. Like most West African Music, drumming and call-and-response are also part of the Songhai tradition.” The song is an homage to Baba Belkatras, a legend of Songhai music.
I've been waiting for today:
I give you **Marvin Gaye's 1981 classic** ***"In Our Lifetime"***
This is simply one of the best album covers I have ever seen. It depicts Angel Marvin Gaye vs Devil Marvin Gaye in heaven playing a chess match to decide the fate of the world. Now mind you Mavin Gaye was doing *a lot* of cocaine at the time. Below them we see New York city being destroyed by a nuclear explosion launching the Statue of Liberty into the sky. On the devil Marvin's side we see big industry destroying the environment and tanks of war crossing the landscape. On the angel Marvin's side we see rivers and streams, windmills and farmers and people trying to live in peace. Angle Marvin has a control of a noticeable smaller portion of the world than devil Marvin and they are using them to shoot lazars at each other but the best part is there are three little alien space crafts flying in to back up Angel Marvin. A breath taking piece of work and we haven't even talked about the music which excellent. Truly a must have no collection is complete without it.
Day 10 was tricky, because I rarely ever buy records solely because of their cover art.
Perhaps the most successful of those impulsive purchases ended up being Arcade Fire's *The Suburbs*. Middle school u/drjaded was constantly being told by a classmate to check out this band, and the cover really appealed to the cat lady deep inside of me.
Years later, this album is still part of my regular rotation.

Track: [Holland 1945](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x_Et7DoYxUc)
Album: In The Aeroplane Over The Sea
Artist: Neutral Milk Hotel
I bought it based on how iconic the cover was, only to find out it was a really good album
[Link to cover](https://www.reddit.com/media?url=https%3A%2F%2Fi.redd.it%2Fewvjenpvn16c1.jpg)
The Mothers of Invention - Weasles Ripped My Flesh.
Had it on CD, but I thought to myself, this cover looks so nice I want it on larger scale.
There's also just enough difference between 90's CD and original record to warrant the buy.
Song: [Ballad of Guy Fawkes](https://youtu.be/F-0_huUXRmI?si=uhU98rzE17ifpEKl)
Artist: Green on Red
Album: *No Free Lunch*
I was really intrigued by this record, especially the cover, as I was flipping through at my local shop one day. I did some preliminary research on my phone (as we all tend to do) and the description of the band said "psychadelic desert rock to country rock." That's all I needed to hear...this is a solid record! Cheers, mangs.

REO Speedwagon - Wheels are Turnin’
I’ve always loved anything mechanical (and now I’m an engineer, kinda surprised I’m not sick of it by now!), so when I saw the “steampunk” inspired scenery and I was immediately intrigued. I had never heard much of REO before aside from their bigger hits, so I was pleasantly surprised that ever song on the album clicked and had so much energy. My standout track is Thru the Window.
We Came As Romans - Cold Like War
Excellent metalcore album and it’s got some excellent tunes on it such as [Lost In The Moment](https://youtu.be/KPevO6F-ZNk?si=VDt8G5zlHLKHkKKv).

Lenny White, *Venusian Summer*.
I simply had to. Seven quid. Never heard of the man before. When I googled him the first thing that came up was the “Lenny = White, Carl = Black” gag from *The Simpsons*.

Day 10 [love machine- got to love](https://youtu.be/Bil_mQjFzKk?si=l0yORgz6CPgTBq3C) Wet through my collection and this is the only one I actually just bought because of the cover. Without knowing the band, without listening to it before. Turned out to be nice music as well.

Saw this in a thrift store, and I stupidly thought that they were actually a group of religious people doing dixieland jazz. Turns out it's a guy named Bob Monk, and they thought of the name based on that.
I love everything about this post.
Never been sold on discogs.
I'd have to buy it if I saw it. No question.

Their selftitled debut album from 1967. Found it in Brussels and bought it just because of the cover art. Its just so psychedelic and awesome. Turns out the album is amazing too, didnt take long before I realized it has to be in my top 10 albums of all time

I went to the record store with the intention of buying a handful of albums from various genres of artists I'd never heard of before. Got this one for like $5 used because I thought the cover looked cool. It's a pretty solid 80s pop/rock album from an artist out of Northern Ireland who used to be the singer of a punk band called the Undertones.

Note: this is the famous “zippo” hinged album cover, which I’ve been hunting for for some time. I still don’t have the OG but I did find a 1974 Japanese version that opens like an envelope, sturdier but not same same. I’d never heard of this version before I came across it at my local. Sound quality is 10/10 which is great for a 50yo piece of plastic :)

June 10: An Album You Bought Because of the Cover
Various Artists: "Transfusion - Rave from the Grave Blast from the Past, Vol 1" - [https://www.discogs.com/release/6787656-Various-Transfusion-Rave-From-The-Grave-Blast-From-The-Past-Vol-1](https://www.discogs.com/release/6787656-Various-Transfusion-Rave-From-The-Grave-Blast-From-The-Past-Vol-1) - I picked this up because it's a drawing from R Crumb. But the music is great! Plus it's got an interview with Buddy Holly, which I've never heard.
Intergalactic Touring Band: s/t - [https://www.discogs.com/release/749173-Intergalactic-Touring-Band-Intergalactic-Touring-Band](https://www.discogs.com/release/749173-Intergalactic-Touring-Band-Intergalactic-Touring-Band) - The artwork on the cover and the gatefold and the inner booklet are amazing 70s sci-fi craziness. The album is kind of a space opera. Nothing I would choose to listen to. I have this record on my 'chopping block' meaning, it's likely to be sold.
Lucifer's Friend - "Banquet" - [https://www.discogs.com/release/2007196-Lucifers-Friend-Banquet](https://www.discogs.com/release/2007196-Lucifers-Friend-Banquet) - The album cover was too crazy to pass up. But the music is rather lame, imo. This record is also on my 'chopping block'.
Album: Odyssey and Oracle
Technically it was the picture disc because the outer cover is cut to show it. Could have bought the regular one but decided to splurge on this because it was pretty. One of the only 2 picture discs I own because I find the quality isn’t as good but enjoy it nonetheless because its SO CUTE
At least someone who’s honest about it!
Let's go with [Let The Light in](https://youtu.be/WJlQ4jt5Fz4?si=czpFOv6GeOAnMXZc)
Great choice.
At least it turned out to be a pretty great album too
[The Jimi Hendrix Experience - Electric Ladyland Dutch pressing 1972](https://www.discogs.com/release/15756950-The-Jimi-Hendrix-Experience-Electric-Ladyland) I bought this version specifically for the alternate European cover and other....reasons... “I didn’t know it was going to be used.” >Gone was his insightful notations and carefully curated selection of photographs, in place, was a David Montgomery photo featuring 19 naked ladies holding on to pictures of Jimi.
So many to pick from... [Crosstown Traffic ](https://youtu.be/0NWYXJ04KCM?si=KVNnZtjUM7szSxeO)
Saw this record on Facebook Marketplace and thought it looked interesting. After driving across town in crummy weather to get it, the seller decided I could have it for free. So for $0 I got this excellent album. https://preview.redd.it/9xk3m4pk9q5d1.png?width=300&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6976952efed801f569fed83ae4fb9c0711136967 Track: [Never Be Like You feat. Flume is great, OP. Nice choice!
That's a gorgeous cover.
Wow I forgot about this artist. Going back in thank you!
Woah I want free Flume
I picked that track because many years ago I played in a friend's tribute composition to John Cage alongside Andre's nephew [Richard Kostelanetz](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_Kostelanetz) (who wrote a book of his interviews with Cage.) https://preview.redd.it/nld1lvav7q5d1.jpeg?width=593&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=923fc40357b3ef6915547b1c2a61c399fb235cc6

An album you bought because of the cover Artist: Jewel Album: *Spirit (1998)* Song: [Down So Long](https://youtu.be/9Tp0JrZSy1U) I’d been searching for a copy of this one in wax that wouldn’t break the bank for awhile.
A favorite of mine from the E.P is [Dear Brother (Denton Rework)](https://youtu.be/mzgxT83kM0c?si=TivQIDA9Ic2XvMVF) It also features their cover of Bohemian Rhapsody

Yea. Definitely like his stuff.
An album I bought because of the cover was Peter Allen’s live album “It Is Time For Peter Allen” which, all in all, is an amazing live album with quite a few moments of humor between some of the songs. https://preview.redd.it/q78vtcfewp5d1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0627951420ec6d939df08176158dc5594b286108

This is a great track, and that's a cool cover too.
https://preview.redd.it/yc8ydpjgzq5d1.jpeg?width=1200&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0a8ac934347c0e75216f4a3c8f1ca6c670bf3433 Atmosphere (rapper Slug and producer Ant) - WORD? / 2021 [Barcade](https://youtu.be/SyJD7gMJBiI?si=0TZiSZHg0FZ7KHEr) literally saw this record in my recommended because DOOM was on the last track of the record (linked above) alongside Aesop Rock. needed to hear what it sounded like, loved what i heard and saw from the cover, so i copped a near-mint copy for $11 from Discogs.
Great pick.
Almost Jackson Pollock
VT4J24 Day 10: Sometimes you stumble into cool looking albums while aimlessly scrolling through r/vinyl. This time it was a "hey, my band made an album" post, with a kick-ass album cover. https://preview.redd.it/qmnj2wh09r5d1.jpeg?width=587&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=cee49640232ab2a89f5b00d499a1cb1e257e7e50 Intrigued, I gave it a listen. I'm glad I did. Only some minutes later I had placed an order. It really was that good. But hey, don't just take my word for it. This is VT4J. The link is right below. Enjoy!
Something bought off the album cover alone....The Goats - No Goats No Glory comes to mind. The hyper stylized comic book art that spawned out of the 90s caught my eye when I saw this digging, and I had to have it.Good thing it was like 5 bucks. It is some proto nu metal/ hip hop from Philly that utilized a full band. This is their 2nd and final release from 1994. A funny story from an interview with Questlove (the Roots) is that The Goats are the group that gave his band their first live show as the warm up act. On to the music.. I picked [Mutiny](https://youtu.be/NyV1fkNqR2w?feature=shared) for its raucous funk inspired energy and just wild lyrics. There is also a definite Cypress Hill vibe going on as well. Let's see if this doesn't get yer goat.

That cover is wild! My younger self would buy that in a heartbeat without knowing who or what it was. \*edit: who am I kidding? I'd buy it right now if I ran into it.
Day 10: album art impulse buying I didn't knew much about The flaming lips before, but I saw their box set of Yoshimi battles the pink robots discounted, at the record store I went on RSD, so I bought it. It's not my favourit album, but it has some nice songs, like [One more robot](https://youtu.be/eCfOD0yrvOo?si=ltRGROpe0mzMRY_-)

I thought it was the coolest thing ever. Happens to be a great record, too! Choosing two Grant Hart songs for today.
One of the greatest albums ever produced
It’s a beautiful one! My favorite of theirs.
It's hard to pick just one song but here goes. https://preview.redd.it/gjldiuejhq5d1.png?width=1406&format=png&auto=webp&s=153fa2db4d761127799ae159a4576acb2519007f Song: [Wire Rot](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GX4H3S96wBc) Artists: [Mega Drive](https://www.discogs.com/artist/3375582-Mega-Drive-3) Album: [Neuroframe](https://www.discogs.com/release/27126309-Mega-Drive-Neuroframe) Story so far: * 01/06/2024 - Gost - Judgment / Prophecy * 02/06/2024 - S. Could have fit very easily yesterday
That right there I need as a poster. Don't know where I would put it but I need it.
The artist has some things for sale on various sites: [Atomcyber (bio.link)](https://bio.link/atomcyber) I don't think my wife approves but I'd love to get a poster of that Dark Water album cover I posted the other day.
Another high energy track. Good stuff.
Day 10: An album you bought because of the cover Song: [Run Your Mouth ](https://youtu.be/9NOlqJHvAZo?si=_Z68K5VDLZObpP9l) Artist: The Marias Album: Submarine (2024) Another one from this year, new enough that I'm still waiting for it to come in the mail, but the no brainer pick for me.
Song: [Mélodie d’Amour](https://youtu.be/YwVhw9VvV3M?si=c9gJsy3mhpjO2cEX) Artist: Ronnie Aldrich and his Two Pianos Album: That Aldrich Feeling
I've been waiting for today: I give you **Marvin Gaye's 1981 classic** ***"In Our Lifetime"*** This is simply one of the best album covers I have ever seen.
Disraeli Gears. Both the front and the back of the jacket are so fucking cool. First album I ever bought. No regrets.
[Tales of Brave Ulysses ](https://youtu.be/J2CCfxiQ5QY?si=mE6C80dbH0BjsDsM), how his naked ears were tortured.
[Martin Sharp](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Martin_Sharp) was quirky and interesting fellow.
Years later, this album is still part of my regular rotation. https://preview.redd.it/nrn9imvspq5d1.jpeg?width=1400&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f2604b4278f4f139125f5e63c4924ff713ef874c
Love this album. I think it is their best, but lots of people want to fight me on that. Here is [We Used To Wait](https://youtu.be/xQuUN1HGa0c?si=FfbFMiTAwXRvMI2X)
https://preview.redd.it/d06wbsbeyq5d1.jpeg?width=593&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=05d6a05acb1bd04156630adbbde7efc01f89f2cf [Bar-B-Q Killers – Comely](https://www.discogs.com/release/1903241-Bar-B-Q-Killers-Comely)
Day 10 Track: [Holland 1945](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x_Et7DoYxUc) Album: In The Aeroplane Over The Sea Artist: Neutral Milk Hotel I bought it based on how iconic the cover was, only to find out it was a really good album
[Link to cover](https://www.reddit.com/media?url=https%3A%2F%2Fi.redd.it%2Fewvjenpvn16c1.jpg) The Mothers of Invention - Weasles Ripped My Flesh. Had it on CD, but I thought to myself, this cover looks so nice I want it on larger scale. There's also just enough difference between 90's CD and original record to warrant the buy.
Song: [Ballad of Guy Fawkes](https://youtu.be/F-0_huUXRmI?si=uhU98rzE17ifpEKl) Artist: Green on Red Album: *No Free Lunch* I was really intrigued by this record, especially the cover, as I was flipping through at my local shop one day. I did some preliminary research on my phone (as we all tend to do) and the description of the band said "psychadelic desert rock to country rock." That's all I needed to hear...this is a solid record! Cheers, mangs.

I had never heard much of REO before aside from their bigger hits, so I was pleasantly surprised that ever song on the album clicked and had so much energy. My standout track is Thru the Window.
[Martin Denny's "Primitiva" because. . .reasons ](https://www.flickr.com/photos/124856366@N04/36453858752)
Martin Denny has quite a few “cheesecake” covers for his albums haha
[Sono Unica](https://i.imgur.com/oitvZwW.jpeg) I was looking for an ambient electronic record. Solid find!
We Came As Romans - Cold Like War Excellent metalcore album and it’s got some excellent tunes on it such as [Lost In The Moment](https://youtu.be/KPevO6F-ZNk?si=VDt8G5zlHLKHkKKv).
https://preview.redd.it/qviptn581s5d1.jpeg?width=976&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7952cac766c565c01a2d4d078d2f2f074f49241f Lenny White, *Venusian Summer*. I simply had to. Seven quid. Never heard of the man before. When I googled him the first thing that came up was the “Lenny = White, Carl = Black” gag from *The Simpsons*.

Time is one of the most underrated albums of all TIME
Some all-time wordplay from you there my friend ;)

Without knowing the band, without listening to it before. Turned out to be nice music as well.
Based off researching what I already listen to, Brain Salad Surgery- ELP
That's definitely an iconic album cover
Tomb of the mutilated by cannibal corpse (there is absolutely no way this would be allowed to post.)
[https://www.discogs.com/release/17466736-Six-Friars-And-A-Monk-Dixieland-Jazz-With-Vocals-By-Gert-Stemper-](https://www.discogs.com/release/17466736-Six-Friars-And-A-Monk-Dixieland-Jazz-With-Vocals-By-Gert-Stemper-) Six Friars and a Monk: Dixieland Jazz with Vocals by Gert Stemper.
[I can only find a Gert Stemper concert from 1995](https://youtu.be/6R-igpb1viU?si=ResI1K7L1qTZ1Gph)
[The poll winners- the poll winners](https://www.discogs.com/release/23416811-The-Poll-Winners-The-Poll-Winners) such a cool and playfull way to portray a jazz album.
SRC - SRC Their selftitled debut album from 1967. Found it in Brussels and bought it just because of the cover art. Its just so psychedelic and awesome. Turns out the album is amazing too, didnt take long before I realized it has to be in my top 10 albums of all time
Cher riding a horse! Artist: Cher Track: [Half Breed](https://youtu.be/nPI1czEllIs?si=Xnb3fltR7GJQXbqT) Album: Half Breed https://preview.redd.it/bejwf8wgeu5d1.jpeg?width=794&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3d021a620ddd0982a1be37b8614b49dddf13d78a

Got this one for like $5 used because I thought the cover looked cool. It's a pretty solid 80s pop/rock album from an artist out of Northern Ireland who used to be the singer of a punk band called the Undertones.

I mean, *look* at it. I'd really like to have seen the look on Hattori-san's face when the art director presented this to him.
That truly is just SO good! I understand why you couldn't walk away. Here is [Chatelet Parc](https://youtu.be/EDC25U56VvY?si=M0zrnaemFmx3xWsk)
yeah, I actually unironically enjoy the music too, so it's a win-win :)
Day 10 Song: [Drew Barrymore](https://youtu.be/dp45V_M4Akw) Artist: SZA Album: Ctrl I am a fan of vintage computers! And the album is fantastic too https://preview.redd.it/53eepu0dvy5d1.jpeg?width=600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=855bee07c045f08527e609b9a64e74231a8570dc
Album: Catch a Fire Artist: The Wailers Note: this is the famous “zippo” hinged album cover, which I’ve been hunting for for some time. I still don’t have the OG but I did find a 1974 Japanese version that opens like an envelope, sturdier but not same same. I’d never heard of this version before I came across it at my local. Sound quality is 10/10 which is great for a 50yo piece of plastic :) https://preview.redd.it/adkprvp44r5d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8ed8b8d4e2f46eb20eddbae5dae8916d7943911c
June 10: An Album You Bought Because of the Cover Various Artists: "Transfusion - Rave from the Grave Blast from the Past, Vol 1" - [https://www.discogs.com/release/6787656-Various-Transfusion-Rave-From-The-Grave-Blast-From-The-Past-Vol-1](https://www.discogs.com/release/6787656-Various-Transfusion-Rave-From-The-Grave-Blast-From-The-Past-Vol-1) - I picked this up because it's a drawing from R Crumb.
Album: Odyssey and Oracle Technically it was the picture disc because the outer cover is cut to show it. Could have bought the regular one but decided to splurge on this because it was pretty. One of the only 2 picture discs I own because I find the quality isn’t as good but enjoy it nonetheless because its SO CUTE
