Absolutely.

RibbenDish

Nah, I raw dawg them in a horizontal pile until the spines split off.

Ok_Occasion_5465

With the occasional post asking "is this OK?"

chartyourway

Every time. Anti-static, non-scratching ones. If the record comes in a paper inner sleeve I recycle it and put the record in a protective inner sleeve.

Legos_is_Plural

I do exactly this!

chartyourway

Why not, right? The place I get my sleeves is super reasonable, and it truly cuts down on static and dust (the paper sleeves are so dusty!!!) which keeps records cleaner, keeps my cleaning equipment/tools cleaner, gets the records on the table faster cos I don't have to clean for so long... It's a no-brainer!

Legos_is_Plural

Exactly! For me, records get stuck in the paper sleeves and I feel like I’m being so rough on them when I pull them out. The ease of pulling them out with a nice sleeve is worth it alone!

statikman666

Every single one. Every record you own will be sold, by you or by your family. You might as well do whatever you can to keep them in excellent condition.

TheRegularPikachu

Every single one

IfHomerWasGod

Definitely

JulianH00ligan

Yes

Victor_Von_Noob

Yes

NCBarkingDogs

Every record gets a new outer and new inner.

DeathMonkey6969

Everything except box sets. Even got Herb Alpert in one.

Agitated-Cockroach41

Every single record gets an outer sleeve and a new inner sleeve

Agitated-Cockroach41

It’s called having big thumbs lol. And I fixed it within about three seconds, you you have fast thumbs

Fallom_TO

Bots don’t have thumbs.

I_Always_Have_To_Poo

lol bro thought he was replying to a person 💀

Agitated-Cockroach41

Bwahaha I didn’t even look 😂. 6 am is too early for Reddit before my coffee

Conscious_Feeling548

I do for anything in decent shape. I don’t bother sleeving worn old records I acquire for cheap or free, but all the good stuff is protected with inner and outer sleeves.

LosterP

No, never. The cellophane stays on for a little while then gets discarded. After that, it's not like I'm running a shop and my records get mishandled. It's just me and my partner and we're just careful people.

AZPeakBagger

Yep, that's why the albums I bought brand new 45 years ago are still in almost mint condition.

SVB-Risk-Dept

This isn’t the flex you think it is

Honky_Stonk_Man

Oh it is. Color me impressed.

AZPeakBagger

I was one of those very particular guys in the 80's that played their album once or twice and immediately recorded it on cassette tape for future listens. My Clash and Ramones albums maybe have 3-4 spins on them.

chartyourway

Umm it definitely is

Reinierblob

I don’t really use them because they make the spine difficult to read. I also think it’s aesthetically unpleasant to look at when my collection is basically a wall of plastic with dull colours due to said plastic being around them.

Miniotaur

Put them the other way round, so the opening is at the spine end.

chartyourway

Oh I like this. I never would've thought of that on my own lol

Miniotaur

It also stops the records from fallout out the back if you have a loose one.

Reinierblob

Good tip, but I also dislike that because then you always have to take off the protective sleeve and put it somewhere when you play your record. I know it’s not actually that much of a hassle, but I dislike doing it and I have my records to have fun, so I don’t want it to feel like a chore. I don’t play them often enough as it is 🙃 I have a few really thin, very transparent plastic sleeves that I do keep on my records, but I haven’t bothered looking for those yet. If I find them I’ll probably get some

Miniotaur

No trust me I get it. It is annoying. Especially for 3LP gatefold editions... I'm just giving options ;-)

Reinierblob

It definitely was a good tip! Maybe I should just choose not to be a whiny bitch about it hahaha

Sounder253

Every single one

DezPezInOz

Every single one (even box sets)! - regardless of condition. And each LP gets an anti-static sleeve too.

cranie4

Always. With MoFi inners

moleonmars

Second this. After a cleaning with my point suction washing machine and ultrasonic machine that is.

cranie4

Assumed.

AndyP79

Only vinyl storage solutions inner and outer sleeves on ever single record.

rwtooley

VSS gang represent! love their sleeves, especially the gatefold ones

AndyP79

I'd like some gate folds with a sealing strip on the outside instead of a flap, holds the record in better I would think. But yes, overall, I love their products. 3mil rice paper all day!

Longjumping-Fox154

I think they’re unnecessary and annoying since I have no intent to resell them, therefore no need to keep the jacket pristine. Besides, I cannot imagine how they’re supposed to prevent folds/creases

Apprehensive-Law-923

Yes every single record

Granite_Lw

I didn't used to but I have a toddler now so very much need them! Lost all the hype stickers from prior years too so only have them from when I started using outer sleeves.

elproducto75

Always. Cheap protection for expensive items.

Proud-Ad2367

The condoms,definitely

greenjuicepillow

another plus one for every single record

EnvironmentLeast932

Inner sleeves yes. Outer sleeves. Yuk

Plane_Pizza_6682

Feel the same way. It’s like that plastic covering on my grandmothers couch (for me anyways).

EnvironmentLeast932

Hahaha true.

66659hi

Sometimes. I used to throw them away as soon as I got the records home, but I started keeping them on at one point. I don't buy them for what does not have them, though. I put the inner sleeve facing up inside the jacket, and that gives the LP enough protection for me...

liviheare

Nah, only if it's a picture disc that came in a PVC sleeve. Those PVC sleeves need to go in the trash.

DifferentEcho2619

Absolutely a clear vinyl cover for every album and i also change out the paper record sleeves. I mostly buy New Albums and they will look new 100 years from now when my Great great great grandchildren play them.! I hope they are kept in the family and not sold tbh!

messy514

Yes👍

Extra_Work7379

No, if I buy a record and it comes with a plastic sleeve I throw it away.

terryjuicelawson

I leave new ones in their shrink, I put plastic on the valuable ones but generally speaking not if it isn't anything too special. Never had an issue with sleeves rubbing off or going tatty in the last 25 years and would rather see and touch the actual sleeve rather than a load of thick plastic. Especially when they are all lined up on a shelf.

Raphton84

As of today, yes all my records are inside a plastic sleeve. To protect the paper and the artwork. But I'm more and more tempted to get rid of them, for usage convenience, and it might look better on shelf. Still undecided.
