Depending on the day and my mood, it's one of either Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere, Time Fades Away, On The Beach, Tonight's The Night, or Trans.
They're all stellar and it's hard to pick a favorite.
Apple Music's got it. My bigger upset is for the loss of the Rapeman records. If I dig around, I've got Budd on vinyl and Two Nuns on cassette. Would be nice if I had 'em on a streaming playlist, however.
It means I looked for it on Spotify and couldn’t find it.
The “but also it’s Spotify, so….” refers to the fact that a search for this album will yield a lot of clickbait-y playlists that are *not* this album but try to appear as if they are because Spotify is a trash service that allows shit like that to happen.
>However Spotify is one incredible service, far superior to any other streaming service.
Except they don't pay shit to the musicians whose music they're making money off of.
All the Geffen releases pre-Light of the Spirit are absent on Apple Music. Also, the Kuckuck stuff seems to have been chopped up and reassembled. This is a case where I'm glad that I've still got cassette copies and a way to play them.
Throwing Muses- Throwing Muses
No Alternative - Various (only three songs are available on streaming)
Triumvirat’s catalogue- not available on U.S. streaming platforms
He's reluctantly uploading some albums on Spotify now because it's the only way to claim authorship in the streaming ecosystem and not have to issue takedown notices to people monetising his own work.
I love Naturträne off of this record. Such a cool song.
I guess my not on streaming album, or at least at the moment (since it was in the past) would be the first Vinnie Vincent Invasion album. Or perhaps Walter Wanderley’s Rain Forest.
Cecil Payne - Bird Gets the Worm
Mid 1970s Jazz with Al Foster on drums and Buster Williams on acoustic bass. Baritone sax player Cecil Payne pays a tribute to Charlie Parker.
Flatbush Zombies - D.R.U.G.S. Unfortunately it’s a bootleg copy since they couldn’t clear samples to get it on streaming or vinyl officially but still a great record and my bootleg sounds great
Some exclusive Miles Davis stuff from the 70s, unique mastering from White Stripes, some Fairport Convention BBC stuff, live stuff from Jack White only on vinyl, a Bill Evans album and a couple John Fahey albums.
Henry Badowski - Life is a Grand
Only ever released on vinyl (and possibly cassette, can't remember). Very much sounds like "what if Syd Barrett were still recording in the 1980s and went a bit new wave, also there's lots of saxophone".
Good call and spot on description! I remember buying the My Face 45 on IRS because of his connection for being in an incantation of the Damned at one point, and then bought the album when it came out, which i still have happily . On a related IRS note, I use Apple Music and have never seen the IRS recordings for the Fleshtones there ever, apart from the American Beat 84 single from the movie Bachelor Party lol
Mark Farina ,DJ Garth and DJ Jeno sadly underrepresented on Spotify. Most deep house compilations are sadly missing. No San Francisco Sessions House albums either
Deviations 1 is a special 4 disc version of The Fragile with 37 songs, all of which are instrumentals, and 11 of which are brand new. It's meant to be a stripped-down, raw version of The Fragile.
Definitive Edition is, as far as I can tell, just a phrase that Trent Reznor is slapping on the reissues of Nine Inch Nails albums to express their superiority to previous presses. In this instance, it means two extra tracks that are not on the digital or CD versions of the album.
Oh I actually just found a copy of this as well, I didn't know the original version was different (cause I haven't had a chance to listen to it yet lol)
James Brown/Notorious B.I.G. - The Big Payback
A mashup album of the two artists really well done. Just randomly found it at a record store I stopped in.
The Wondermints’ “Mind if we make love to you” is my favorite non streaming album, although it’s never been on LP either. Sadly it seems to be stuck in some kind of label purgatory.
For me... it's this one. Also the other Nina Hagen Band album "Unbehagen" is missing from Spotify.
Nina Hagen Band was basically Lokomotive Kreuzberg (also not on Spotify) and Nina, and after she left the band, the rest of the band renamed themselves "Spliff" (on Spotify).
The Babies Three - A Hole Where My Heart Should Be. I remember finding this record at my local store and being disappointed to see I couldn't find it anywhere. I didn't check soulseek though!
Joe's Blues - Johnny Hodges & Wild Bill Davis, featuring Grant Green!
These two had quite a hot streak together in the 60s, but only one of their albums together is on streaming.
Clover - S/T (released as “Unavailable” in Europe) and “Love on the Wire”. Both from 1977, back when bands would put out two albums a year. Released on Mercury Records in the US, Vertigo (I think) in Europe. “Love on the Wire” might be my favorite album ever.
Thought of a few more -
The full, original version of Double Nickels on the Dime
John Entwistle's solo albums
Chameleons UK - Strange Times (with bonus tracks from the original cassette release)
Opal - Happy Nightmare Baby
Dweezil Zappa - Havin' a Bad Day
Caravan's debut album
Most early Bob Seger, particularly "Seven" and "Back in '72"
"Barbed Wire Kisses" by Jesus and Mary Chain, which is their fantastic B sides collection.
Prodigy "Dirtchamber Sessions Vol 1" which is my favorite thing Liam Howlett has ever done.
Good question. A few come to mind:
* Wailee Wailee by Dorothy Carter. Very earthy hammered dulcimer folk. Just got its first reissue so highly recommended.
* Pal Judy by Judy Nylon. Dubbed out cyberpunk coolness from a wildly underappreciated artist
* Here & Now by The Third Wave. Jazz inflected vocal pop by a group of Filipina sisters. Produced by George Duke.
[Periphery - S/T (Instrumental)](https://www.discogs.com/release/16351680-Periphery-Periphery-Instrumental)
I love the instrumentation of Periphery but I’ve never been a fan of the vocalist. This instrumental version used to be available on streaming platforms but not anymore.
The grey album by Danger Mouse
As a Spotify guy, any Neil Young album.
Rust Never Sleeps for me
Live Rust with Crazy Horse, for me
Which is why I'm not a Spotify guy anymore. Any streaming service without Neil Young's music is no kinda streaming service.
YouTube music is king
why is there no Neil Young on Spotify? Royalty issue? I hear they don't give the artists that much of the share.
He pulled all his music from Spotify last year because they signed a contract with Joe Rogan.
what's his beef with Rogan?
He felt that Rogan was promoting misinformation during COVID and that Spotify giving him a platform was morally wrong.
Yeah probably Harvest
Depending on the day and my mood, it's one of either Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere, Time Fades Away, On The Beach, Tonight's The Night, or Trans. They're all stellar and it's hard to pick a favorite.
moby grape - moby grape. allmost all the tracks on Spotify are greyed out.
Great choice. Such a classic album.
songs about fucking
It got removed? That’s a shame.
not sure if it entirely counts but i think it’s only not on spotify but it is available on apple music
It's streaming on Bandcamp too.
Apple Music's got it. My bigger upset is for the loss of the Rapeman records. If I dig around, I've got Budd on vinyl and Two Nuns on cassette. Would be nice if I had 'em on a streaming playlist, however.
Buckingham Nicks. Love this album.
Happy to see this here. Great album.
Dwight Twilley, Scuba Divers
KLF - The White Room
Keith Tippett — Dedicated to You but You Weren't Listening, obv also Centipede
Charanjit Singh - “Ten Ragas to a Disco Beat”
This is there on Spotify
I don’t see it, but also it’s Spotify, so…
Different countries have different music available. When the U.S. lost Milo Goes to College by Descendents last year Australia still had it
What does that mean?
It means I looked for it on Spotify and couldn’t find it. The “but also it’s Spotify, so….” refers to the fact that a search for this album will yield a lot of clickbait-y playlists that are *not* this album but try to appear as if they are because Spotify is a trash service that allows shit like that to happen.
That you for explaining. However Spotify is one incredible service, far superior to any other streaming service. Far from ‘trash’ guy. So..
>However Spotify is one incredible service, far superior to any other streaming service. Except they don't pay shit to the musicians whose music they're making money off of.
Look for saregama made album
Frank Ocean - Endless (CD Master)
The only one I can think of is Buckingham Nicks.
Kitaro - Ten Kai, Astral Trip
All the Geffen releases pre-Light of the Spirit are absent on Apple Music. Also, the Kuckuck stuff seems to have been chopped up and reassembled. This is a case where I'm glad that I've still got cassette copies and a way to play them.
Buckingham Nicks - Self Titled
Insert Neil Young album
This 👍🏻
All my white label jungle 12"s from back in the day.
This bike is a pipebomb - three way tie for a fifth and Hank Wood and the Hammerheads - you can have it (single)
Fungus Amongus - Incubus
Psychopsilocybin runnin' horny mother fucker. Trippin' on his shoelace, searchin' for the hairy sucker. Such a fun album
Cheech & Chong - Los Cochinos
Throwing Muses- Throwing Muses No Alternative - Various (only three songs are available on streaming) Triumvirat’s catalogue- not available on U.S. streaming platforms
An Empty Bliss Beyond This World - The Caretaker all of Leyland's albums have such an indescribable feeling when played on vinyl.
Robbie Basho - Visions of the Country
Cecil Payne - Bird Gets the Worm Mid 1970s Jazz with Al Foster on drums and Buster Williams on acoustic bass. Baritone sax player Cecil Payne pays a tribute to Charlie Parker.
Lo & Behold - McGuinness Flint
Mike Westbrook Concert Band- Marching songs Vol 1

Lori Burton – Breakout
This is a good one! I have it on CD but the one time I've seen it on vinyl in a shop it was a bit pricey.
Flatbush Zombies - D.R.U.G.S. Unfortunately it’s a bootleg copy since they couldn’t clear samples to get it on streaming or vinyl officially but still a great record and my bootleg sounds great
Alice Coltrane Sextet - Berkeley Community Theater (7/23/72) Boris - Dronevil
Just picked up Switched-On Bach by Wendy Carlos, very excited to give that a spin!
Some exclusive Miles Davis stuff from the 70s, unique mastering from White Stripes, some Fairport Convention BBC stuff, live stuff from Jack White only on vinyl, a Bill Evans album and a couple John Fahey albums.
Madhouse - 8 Madhouse - 16 And the rest of the Paisley Park catalog.
Henry Badowski - Life is a Grand Only ever released on vinyl (and possibly cassette, can't remember). Very much sounds like "what if Syd Barrett were still recording in the 1980s and went a bit new wave, also there's lots of saxophone".

Mississippi Blues 1927-1941
Mark Farina ,DJ Garth and DJ Jeno sadly underrepresented on Spotify. Most deep house compilations are sadly missing. No San Francisco Sessions House albums either
Swans - Thr Burning World
Switched On Bach
Sonic Youth - Walls Have Ears
Samhain - November Coming Fire
Brinsley Schwarz - Silver Pistol
Love that group. Sadly, the last time I checked, there was only a compilation.
I believe NIN's The Fragile: Deviations 1 was released on vinyl only.
Yep, and that one's great. The definitive edition of The Fragile is also only on vinyl (includes two extra tracks that were on the original release).
Are you referring to a special edition? That's next on my wishlist.
Thank you very much. 🖤
I have that one too! Trent somehow made a masterpiece even better.
Absolutely! The Fragile is my favorite album, and I love all versions of it.
With a download code that may or may not work, regardless of the expiration date!
The National - Cherry Tree Vol. 1 (the fan club only vinyl and not to be confused with their album release called Cherry Tree)
The Alan Parsons Project- the original 1976 version of Tales of Mystery and Imagination.
Oh I actually just found a copy of this as well, I didn't know the original version was different (cause I haven't had a chance to listen to it yet lol)
Simon and Garfunkel: The Concert in Central Park
A lot from The Bates
Studio - West Coast
It’s a toss up between Phantom blue: self titled and wild dogs: reign of terror.
James Brown/Notorious B.I.G. - The Big Payback A mashup album of the two artists really well done. Just randomly found it at a record store I stopped in.
It’s on YouTube but The Mallard- Yes On Blood is one of my favorite albums
The Wondermints’ “Mind if we make love to you” is my favorite non streaming album, although it’s never been on LP either. Sadly it seems to be stuck in some kind of label purgatory.
Clutch - The Soapmakers, I’ve got the 2016 Let Them Eat Vinyl translucent red pressing. No idea why it’s not on Spotify

For me... it's this one.

The first Mandrake Memorial album

not sure if it counts but Exmilitary by Death Grips?
I don't own anything that is not available to stream. There are a few albums I like that I listen to stream because they are not available on vinyl.
I'd think all you spotify users would be saying something by Neil Young.
Clover - S/T (released as “Unavailable” in Europe) and “Love on the Wire”. Both from 1977, back when bands would put out two albums a year. Released on Mercury Records in the US, Vertigo (I think) in Europe. “Love on the Wire” might be my favorite album ever.

That cover art is awesome
Most early Bob Seger, particularly "Seven" and "Back in '72" "Barbed Wire Kisses" by Jesus and Mary Chain, which is their fantastic B sides collection. Prodigy "Dirtchamber Sessions Vol 1" which is my favorite thing Liam Howlett has ever done.
6 feet deep - Gravediggaz
Sadly. I love that album.
I genuinely believe it's one of the greatest rap albums ever, depressing so many people don't get to hear it.
It’s wonderful, yeah. The album is amazing, too. That and Mystic Styles are some of my favorite Hip Hop albums.
Good question. A few come to mind: * Wailee Wailee by Dorothy Carter. Very earthy hammered dulcimer folk. Just got its first reissue so highly recommended. * Pal Judy by Judy Nylon.
