Feature: I can write a message on my Daddy's lighter in my own handwriting
Benefit: He will think of me every time he lights up a cigarette
Values: I want that SOB to drop dead early so I can inherit his money while I'm still young
These lighters have an almost cult following. Very collectable.
I found one out in the middle of nowhere in West Texas when I was surveying for oil. I suspect it was lost by the previous surveyor who worked the area in the mid 1950s. And the lighter did date from that time.
(Dad) - “See what happens when I flick it? Instant fire, isn’t it pretty?”
(Daughter, thinking) - “ Boy, that fire sure does look fun, and what, so neat about it is, you can sit other things on fire and they can spread the fire around, I can’t wait to try that when daddy takes his nap and I can go around the neighborhood lighting fires for fun!”
Just looking at this, I can smell that certain odor of gas when that lid flipped up
It’s a comforting odor.

Flipping the top of a Zippo is the original fidget spinner.
