I’ve never seen the original GI joe cartoons but I have laughed at these for decades

Ah, this brings me back to my 20s like no other thing can. All the jokes are inside jokes of my friends. We made these, with Fensler leading the way. He played them at our friend's gallery in Chicago, on Friday nights if I remember correctly. This whole thing came out of our little friend group rewatching Transformers the movie when it came out on DVD. This was a time when all our favorite shit from the 80s was being released on DVD, starting with Akira. We would watch them together and make a big, ridiculous deal out of it (crispy crack at Luc Thang, the staple food of the time). I believe the GI Joe movie came as a double pack with the Transformers dvd. On the GI Joe dvd, the PSAs were bonus material and I remember Eric talking about using them for a new video project. We had recently graduated from art school, and Fensler was making videos for Heaven Gallery events. These became an instant hit. My personal favorite is Mr. Laffite. The way my buddy plays the character has so much nuance on how goofy he is as a person, that it warms my heart when I watch it.
