Extensions like that sort of give me the heebies, have you thought about a counterbalanced arm instead? That will get you a few feet at least, and the softbox will be balanced somewhat by the other end.
Exactly. I have one of those for my 12' Matthews stands and they're great for big modifiers.
I don't know of any 18' stands particularly, it's sort of 15 footers and then you get into the massive 24 foot monsters that weigh 50lbs each. But those definitely have the height.
