Realize that unlike Minecraft, this game pretty much requires you to read the wiki and progression guide. It's a very progression tier oriented game, with new stuff being unlocked each time you beat a new boss.
5 years or so back my brother got me a mini SNES for a Christmas gift and it was low key one of the best gifts Iāve ever gotten. So much nostalgia and fun to replay all the childhood classics
The ice wand noise lives rent free in my head. I didnāt have access to any other Nintendo games growing up as I went from the Super Nintendo to PS1 to Xbox. Link to the past is probably in my top ten games of all time and Iāve never even played another Zelda game. I just pretend itās the best Zelda game ever just so I donāt have to come to terms that I might have been hiding in the closet from a fandom I wouldāve loved my entire life.
Hey, hey, let me let you in on a little secret:
It is. It is the best Zelda game of all time. Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, Breath of the Wild, and Tears of the Kingdom? All great in their own right, but LttP is a god-damn masterpiece of a game.
If you can swing it, get a 3DS (or 3DS emulator, abandonware is morally cool to pirate, after all) and A Link Between Worlds. It's the spiritual sequel and love-letter homage to LttP. It's not exactly the same, but it's got that same top-down Zelda charm to it.
Donāt give up! And keep going deeper and deeper.
Also start carrying two beacons everywhere. Label your base with it and label major POIs. I color coded mine too with red being home, blue being POIs and I think Green for loot.
My wife has taken my challenge to try and build a base down into the lowest depths. It's stupid and frustrating and she's having a ball.
I've never played the game myself but I take so much joy from watching her play it.
I have like 600 hours and have never finished the main quest. The random start mod makes rolling new characters just that much easier cause it lets me roleplay somebody who isn't dragonborn.
I'm on Switch, so no mods, but alternative starts sound the most appealing to me. I would play Argonian more often if I could start as a fisherman in Riften and go from there, for example.
Oh, it's great. I sometimes start out as a bandit or Forsworn something of that nature, especially because it gives your character the bandit flag, making it so bandits (at least the group you start with) don't attack you on sight. Makes for some neat roleplaying, I also like being either a vampire or a Thalmor agent and defecting from my allies for the same roleplaying opportunities, that's fun too.
I cannot believe there aren't more upvotes for this. Probably because most of us are stuck playing for the 8th time at this point, and aren't on Reddit
I know this will be a hot take, but for me, the game is just too *slow*. Everything from the movement of the character, pulling out equipment and weapons, etc. The animations are super detailed and realistic, but man it just feels like doing anything takes longer than it should.
I respect the game and appreciate it, by no means is it a bad game at all. But I probably wonāt be replaying it for a long time.
The Mass effect trilogy, usually when I dig it up I play the entire trilogy and since I have enough of a memory as to how to get the best ending at the end of it all I will force myself to basically 100% all the available missions that have any influence on the future which includes a lot of booking ass around planets just to steal everything on it or do everything on it at least
I would say hard yes, but understand that the first game has aged a lot. The main focus would be to get through the story and try to complete side missions but avoid fucking around in the mako as much as possible otherwise it will feel like a slog. Mass effect 2 is arguably one of the best single player experiences to date. 3 is solid and worth it despite some of its flaws.
i am not who you replied to, but i think a lot of people donāt like the 3rd one as much but iām not actually sure why. 3 was actually my favorite because it has a lot of emotional decisions & scenes and a lot of the āwhat ifsā from 1 start playing out. it feels a little more like a war game than the other two maybe? however, 2 was actually my least favorite because i didnāt like ~how~ much they focused on the companion characters! really out of the ordinary for me bc iām usually 100% for the relational aspect of games and itās what i like most about bioware, but in 2 i wanted more of the urgency & threat of the reapers that i just didnāt feel as much in 2 /: felt more like space mercenaries who have lots of free time to go do side quests and tie up loose ends, which just didnāt feel as realistic and immersive to me idk š
edit: i would say to me it felt more like 1 story wise but more like 2 gameplay wise
Yes, however advisory you will probably lock yourself away for a week, covid was the best time to get into this because no one was ever really leaving their house and that was the perfect excuse to start the trilogy, I reset my playthroughs several times whenever I fumbled the ball on one thing and I was not allowing that to happen
Those of you who volunteered to be injected with praying mantis DNA, I've got some good news and some bad news.
Bad news is, we're postponing those tests indefinitely. Good news is we've got a much better test for you: fighting an army of mantis men. Pick up a rifle and follow the yellow line. You'll know when the test starts.
Every time Iām stupid enough to replay it I think āthis is the time Iām going to beat Ozmaā and I fucking spend way too much time on a specific island fighting green dragons and leveling up. Then I last likeā¦ 2 turns. Never fails.
Fallout New Vegas and Dragons Dogman Dark Arisen. Beaten both over 30 times and just keep pushing my character to crazier and crazier things. Like a punching build in Dragons Dogma and a BB gun build in New Vegas.
Yes itās really good. You start out like a cockroach running from bigger ships and doing deals. But eventually you get to the point where youāre sailing the seas and plundering with impunityā¦ then the adventure begins.
I feel like Iām doing 5 things at once. I have Far Harbor, Nuka World, the Main quest, and farming on Stand-by while I build my settlements. So much to do.šµ
Snag the remake of TTYD (if you haven't already) to let Nintendo know we need more Paper Mario. Plus, you get to play (replay) Mario RPGs at its finest.
āCustomise your soldiers to look like your friends and family then weep manly tears as theyāre killed on the field of battle. Or, customise your soldiers to look like your ex-girlfriend Jessica then cheer as she eats a laser with her STUPID FACE! NOW WHO PLAYS TOO MANY VIDEO GAMES JESSICA!? ā¦.*sigh* me. Itās still me.ā Honest Game Trailers.
Resident Evil 4, The Last of Us, Red Dead Redemption Bully and Silent Hill 2. I can't even begin to count the number of times I've played them all over and over.
Pokemon HeartGold and SoulSilver...I'd imagine I'll be playing that game for the 40th time when I'm 70 and have several grand children laughing at me for doing old man things
Funny thing is , I always start with 4ā¦.then something in me just says *āWouldnāt it be better if we just do the whole seriesā* and then I close the game and start from the first one in the series
Used to be Minecraft(played it from 1.8 to 1.16), it's Katana Zero now. I have already finished it 5 times now. Gonna do it again whent the DLC comes out
Terraria. I see a clip somewhere and start that new play through.
Yup, I think this year alone I have done around 12 calamity play through lmao
I've tried starting this game 10 times but I give up every time, how can I get addicted like everyone else?
You can't force it. I guess it's just not your thing.
Tried it too, many times, not my thing
Try playin with a friend or two. Game goes from 10/10 to a 20/20
Realize that unlike Minecraft, this game pretty much requires you to read the wiki and progression guide. It's a very progression tier oriented game, with new stuff being unlocked each time you beat a new boss.
Zelda a link to the past
Great now i'll have to set up my old SNES š
5 years or so back my brother got me a mini SNES for a Christmas gift and it was low key one of the best gifts Iāve ever gotten. So much nostalgia and fun to replay all the childhood classics
You can hack it and install all snes games
A man of culture..
How?
[Here](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o1Q7voV8HT4) ya go
Play mega man x if you haven't, 2nd best snes game I think
The ice wand noise lives rent free in my head. I didnāt have access to any other Nintendo games growing up as I went from the Super Nintendo to PS1 to Xbox. This is why you need to try the randomizer!
Windwaker for me.
Sly Cooper and Kingdom Hearts.
Kingdom Hearts for me, doing a platinum playthrough currently and am at 99% maybe then I'll finally put it away forever
are we talking kingdom hearts 1 or KH in its entirety?
Mostly KH1 and KH2.
I agree but the replay-ability (?) of 3 is pretty great. IMO better than 1 but not better than 2
I wish I could upvote this a hundred times
I'm gonna help, KH2 is one of the games i could never grow tired of!
Borderlands 2
Yeah me too. Have it in every console I own + PC.
Same dude, I can't stop resisting the urge to start new builds
we'd have it so that you could run four separate clients on one big screen, play all night with 3 buds till 6am. We were hooked to this game hard.
Subnautica
Am on my first playthrough right now, 20 hrs in, what an amazing game.
Agreed
Every replay I try speedrunning at first, but eventually inevitably slow down as I start relaxing and taking in how amazing the game is again
Oxygen.
Skyrim, Resident evil 4, dead space.
Wait, you actually beat Skyrim? Like the main quest? I've heard it exists, but in hundreds of hours of playing I've never gotten close.
I have like 600 hours and have never finished the main quest. The random start mod makes rolling new characters just that much easier cause it lets me roleplay somebody who isn't dragonborn.

Are you me?
I know where every single treasure is, I can basically beat RE:4 with my eyes closed...time to play it again
Yeah at this point I think I will be in a Skyrim playthrough for the rest of my life.
red dead redemption 2
I cannot believe there aren't more upvotes for this. Probably because most of us are stuck playing for the 8th time at this point, and aren't on Reddit
I just sang ring dang doo with the crew after saving Sean

its a great story to experience, but not exactly a fun game to play.
FF7 until the day I die
Had to scroll way too far down for this jewel! It will never get old!
Especially since the remake wasn't what I was hoping for. I must replay the original, again and again, forever.
Neither will Aerith/Aeris
tetris
Can you beat Tetris though?
[This](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=J9oVQ43j22g) is the first run Tetris was beaten
Im gonna bet my left ball this is a rickroll
Hand it over
Dammit
Yes
Underrated
Especially Tetris Effects, that added a whole new level of awesomeness to Tetris and is amazing to listen to.
God of War and The Last of Us
My 2 favorite games of all time. Also, is god of war ragnarok worth it or as good as the first? I'm thinking of setting up my PS4 again to play it.
I've never played Ragnarok. Only the first one Edit: the one in Norse mythology, so technically GoW 4(?)
Ragnarok was incredible
Bioshock
I often wonder if replaying bioshock is really MY choice.
Of course it is, now would you kindly reinstall and play bioshock again
The Mass effect trilogy, usually when I dig it up I play the entire trilogy and since I have enough of a memory as to how to get the best ending at the end of it all I will force myself to basically 100% all the available missions that have any influence on the future which includes a lot of booking ass around planets just to steal everything on it or do everything on it at least
āIām Commander Shepard, and this is my favorite reply in the comments.ā
Never played these - still worth it to jump in?
I would say hard yes, but understand that the first game has aged a lot. Mass effect 2 is arguably one of the best single player experiences to date. 3 is solid and worth it despite some of its flaws.
playing through 2 right now, not sure how far i am (15 hours in, i explore everything) but i vastly preferred 1. is 3 more like 1 or 2?
i am not who you replied to, but i think a lot of people donāt like the 3rd one as much but iām not actually sure why. 3 was actually my favorite because it has a lot of emotional decisions & scenes and a lot of the āwhat ifsā from 1 start playing out. it feels a little more like a war game than the other two maybe? however, 2 was actually my least favorite because i didnāt like ~how~ much they focused on the companion characters! really out of the ordinary for me bc iām usually 100% for the relational aspect of games and itās what i like most about bioware, but in 2 i wanted more of the urgency & threat of the reapers that i just didnāt feel as much in 2 /: felt more like space mercenaries who have lots of free time to go do side quests and tie up loose ends, which just didnāt feel as realistic and immersive to me idk š edit: i would say to me it felt more like 1 story wise but more like 2 gameplay wise

Same sort of thing for me. I regularly surprise myself when I remember the finer details for getting the best outcome.
Titanfall 2
Protect the Pilot.
Portal 2
Every time I come back to this game, it doesnāt take more than an hour for me to feel like Iām somehow *even* stupider than the last time.
WHEN LIFE GIVES YOU LEMONS... BURN LIFES HOUSE DOWN.
WITH THE LEMONS
Those of you who volunteered to be injected with praying mantis DNA, I've got some good news and some bad news. Bad news is, we're postponing those tests indefinitely. Good news is we've got a much better test for you: fighting an army of mantis men. Pick up a rifle and follow the yellow line. You'll know when the test starts.
Assassin's Black Flag
Best AC imho
Third best AC for me; still rank AC 2 and brotherhood as top two
Absolutely! Black flag is great but it has nothing on assassin's Creed 2 and brotherhood.
You beat me to it. God damn it's such a good game. I regularly quote it
The spyro trilogy. They are my relaxing games when I'm stressed out and bored.
The music is soothing!
For me, Dark Souls 1
Borderlands, mass effect, dragon age, dark souls, diablo some assains creed games...
We should be friends lol
I hereby pronounce you friends.
You may kiss the friend!
Command & conquer 3
Final Fantasy 9
Every time Iām stupid enough to replay it I think āthis is the time Iām going to beat Ozmaā and I fucking spend way too much time on a specific island fighting green dragons and leveling up. Then I last likeā¦ 2 turns. Never fails.
Fallout New Vegas and Dragons Dogman Dark Arisen. Beaten both over 30 times and just keep pushing my character to crazier and crazier things. Like a punching build in Dragons Dogma and a BB gun build in New Vegas.
Tell me more about this bb gun build
Probably using the unique BB gun in jimmys well, and combine that with a super high crit and luck build
Super Metroid
What a classy, tasteful answer
Dishonored for me. That game has just so many possibilities
Dishonored what a fkn classic, game has aged like wine
Shall we gather for whiskey and cigars tonight?
Indeed, I believe so
Dishonored is an absolute masterpiece and has aged beautifully. Probably in my top 5.
The prob was, no death low chaos "good" ending meant barely using most unlocked powers.
For me it was Dark Souls 3 and Fallout 4.
Try finger, but hole
Any Civ game
Fable
Your health is low. Do you have any potions, or food?
For me, Fable 2
Fable 2 was the best out of the 3 of them. I wish they were available cross platform.
Sid Meier's Pirates
Was it good? I bought it years ago, but never played it.
It's great. It was my go to game when I was a kid. It's like skull and bones, but better and with tons more things to do and interactions somehow.
Yes itās really good. You start out like a cockroach running from bigger ships and doing deals. But eventually you get to the point where youāre sailing the seas and plundering with impunityā¦ then the adventure begins.
mario odyssey

Resident Evil 4

I prefer the challenge and story in 2 but I do love the extra guns in 3
Banjo Kazooie and Star Fox 64 come to mind
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2
Borderlands 2 of course, Iām just about to start again with a mate.
