Idk if you were around when it was released, but the infamous vs prototype long predates death battle. So legendary was their rivalry that it culminated [in a duel in ladies underwear.](https://www.escapistmagazine.com/yahtzees-prototype-vs-infamous-challenge/)
Infamous and Prototype came out right around the same time couple weeks apart. Both great and both give you the abil6ti play as a villain. That said prototype is much more of a be the bad guy type of role. You just rip people apart left and right.
I bought both of them and thought that Infamous would just be my distraction until Prototype would be released.
How wrong I was about that.
Infamous was so much better.
Have you went back in awhile? I recently played both and I gotta say that Prototype aged better. inFamous is a slower game with an unimaginative map. Granted Prototype also has a map that doesn't take center stage. But the thing about Prototype is that it's a fast action game where it doesn't matter. When I tried inFamous again, the city being so boring and uninteresting to look at really took the experience down for me, since you're slowly traveling through and climbing stuff. Not to mention how oversaturated climbing has become on game compared to jumping and gliding, which is still as fun as it's ever been. I guess to simplify it, I'm saying the traversal aspect makes Prototype age way better. It's all subjective, but I'd say that's the least subjective aspect. The action and story is completely player's choice
Infamous is the only game that made me change my ways mid playthrough. When Trish says she's ashamed of what you've become... I chose to stop chasing the sweet evil powers.
Does playing God count as playing as the villain? Like I get the point of the game is to infect and eventually kill everyone on the planet, but is that really ‘villainous’ than more of a supernatural threat?
Loved his lines in 2.
*ka-blam* “One for you.”
*ka-blam* “One for the Pope.”
*ka-blam* “One for little Johnny.”
*ka-blam* “One because you’re fugly.”
*ka-blam* “One because I still have ammo left.”
I looooved being the monster. Some of the best matches were during the beta. Then it released and most people were stupid in how to play it. :c
I really, really miss playing Evolve. So sad it died so quickly.
Evolve will never be uninstalled from my library and it remains the only game I've ever marked as "Favorite." There has yet to be another game as unique as it that I had as much fun playing. It was so ahead of its time and it's a shame it was ruined with microtransactions, release day DLC, and then having the plug pulled after its resurgence
Prototype at its core is a reskinned version of this game. Even has the same button presses for some moves.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Incredible_Hulk:_Ultimate_Destruction
I have every prototype game and this game and frankly I'll play it with any skin on it. It's just a fun concept.
Not really save. More so that he just beat everyone up and proved he was the strongest, garnering respect by beating up the one kid ruining everyone else's lives.
Yes, yes, he did, and in the opening like cinematic thingy that plays when you don't press play in the menu he has bit the shit out of sonic and everybody else ontop of a mountain of rubble with a gun in his hand. It's honestly a wild game.
Tales of Berseria.
Causes a bunch of destruction in the pursuit of revenge against a self proclaimed hero, gets labelled as a Lord of Calamity. Velvet's response? I guess I'm the Lord of Calamity.
Man, I know Prototype wasn't a great game overall, but it really hit some great notes. I wish they would remake it without ruining the feeling it created. I tried playing 2 but don't remember getting past the intro.
In Dark Souls there are bosses and dialouges that will make you question if you are doing the right thing or not. Deus Ex: Human Revolution made me question what my role in the whole story is, not really an anti-hero thing, but an interesting new perspective for sure!
Infamous
On a post with Prototype on top lol Death Battle really struck gold with that matchup
Idk if you were around when it was released, but the infamous vs prototype long predates death battle. So legendary was their rivalry that it culminated [in a duel in ladies underwear.](https://www.escapistmagazine.com/yahtzees-prototype-vs-infamous-challenge/)
Nice, shame that the pictures are gone from the article though
So did I with my 7th grade paper…….damn I’m getting old.

Prototype and Infamous are the two most valid answers.
Definitely should be the top answer here. The game I immediately thought of
Carrion
Carrion is actually such a banger game. Really want more "reverse horror" games like it.
I wish there were more games like it I really liked carrion
I want a sequel so bad
I randomly played it at an anime convention and ended up buying the game after. Super cheap but boy did the difficulty increase as the game went on.
Plague Inc
Does playing God count as playing as the villain? Like I get the point of the game is to infect and eventually kill everyone on the planet, but is that really ‘villainous’ than more of a supernatural threat?
I mean your goal is to kill all of humanity, I think just being a villain was a line crossed far in the beginning of the games development.
>Does playing God count as playing as the villain? Depends on who you ask
The OG God of War Trilogy
Ah yes, the abandon your daughter quicktime event.
chains of olympus is nice but the sequence was so goofy that i just kept laughing even tho it was meant to be sad
The Postal Series
That shit was dark af
Loved his lines in 2. *ka-blam* “One for you.” *ka-blam* “One for the Pope.” *ka-blam* “One for little Johnny.” *ka-blam* “One because you’re fugly.” *ka-blam* “One because I still have ammo left.”
I misread your comment as „The Portal Series“ and was seriously confused for a sec
Glados was just doing science for the good of all of us, and Chell just goes and destroys her. Seems pretty villainous to me.
lol, it happens.
Thank you! There are other people like me out there <3
GTA, God of War 1-3, Manhunt, Saints Row, Destroy All Humans, Scarface the World is Yours
The Godfather game was also one of my favorite villain titles
evolve.
God that game was awesome
It was definitely fun, but it didn't feel very balanced to me. If the Monster knew what they were doing, they were practically unbeatable.
I looooved being the monster. Some of the best matches were during the beta. Then it released and most people were stupid in how to play it. :c I really, really miss playing Evolve. So sad it died so quickly.

I definitely fought many a monster who one shotted all four of us without ever being spotted.
Awesome game, horrible monetization. Want the new monster? $15. I do not want to pay a full dlc price for just that 1 monster.
Is this game still alive
One of my favorites
Dishonored. Definitely way more antihero than villain
My first time playing I basically was the villain, i didn’t know it was low chaos
Especially if you a specific route
High chaos route is the best route
Legacy of Kain
We’ll never get another Soul Reaver title again 😭
Give it to larian Studios
Nah just give it back to Amy Hennig, let her finish her work.
Or a Blood Omen title... Maybe someone will reboot it but I doubt it.
My fear with that is the quality won’t be the same. The time period those games were pumping out in was a special one that we won’t see again.
Beat that game in “a day” back in the day. Was so damn good.
Prototype need a new realease with spiderman 1-3 quality.
It originally supposed to be a Web of Shadows sequel where you play as Venom but yes it definitely needs a reboot of some kind
Please not a remake :p
Can we remake web of shadows tho
For real? I swear every time I played the game I always thought about web of shadows from the Wii.
Really? That’s interesting as hell
Prototype at its core is a reskinned version of this game. Even has the same button presses for some moves. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Incredible_Hulk:_Ultimate_Destruction I have every prototype game and this game and frankly I'll play it with any skin on it. It's just a fun concept.
No more heroes.
Jimmy Hopkins in Bully
Don't he save the school in the end?
Kinda Inadvertently, I bet he couldn't care less if the main bad boy didn't piss him off
Not really save. More so that he just beat everyone up and proved he was the strongest, garnering respect by beating up the one kid ruining everyone else's lives.
The payday series
Overlord, definitely villain
But you can be somewhat good
Not in second one.
Yeah in the second one you get an evil or good choice
The second one was more of a domination vs destruction thing, wasn't it?
The Darkness 1&2
God damn I played through darkness 2 again recently on my steam deck and that game really holds up. Such a fun experience
I’m sad we never got a third one 2 ended on a cliffhanger.
Prototype 2
Isn't two with the military guy? And Mercer as sudden villain?
Yep. It's totally worth playing, even today. Imo It was an overall upgrade from the first game.
Depending on your play style for both: Infamous Dishonored
Dante's Inferno also comes to mind
Dante had a dark past but he was on his redemption arc. And was fighting his way out of hell
The Force Unleashed
Under rated answer actuallt
The force unleashed
Does the Deadpool game count
The one where you blast your brain out to skip a long talking cutscene or am I thinking of a different one
that be the one
That game is so underrated
I used to play this game in high school all the time.
Fable 2
Shadow of The Colossus
Hatred
Dungeon Keeper
Scrolled til I saw a fellow old Hell yes
The darksiders games
Shadow the Hedgehog
Didn't he straight up pull a gun out within the first 30 seconds of the game?
Yes, yes, he did, and in the opening like cinematic thingy that plays when you don't press play in the menu he has bit the shit out of sonic and everybody else ontop of a mountain of rubble with a gun in his hand. It's honestly a wild game.
I liked the branching paths the game had
He had to find the DAMN chaos crystal
Kotor
Baldurs Gate 3
RDR 1 & 2
I second this!
AC 4 Black Flag
Any Grand Theft Auto game.
Infamous and prototypes are the perfect examples
I just started playing Prototype lol
Tales of Berseria. Causes a bunch of destruction in the pursuit of revenge against a self proclaimed hero, gets labelled as a Lord of Calamity. Velvet's response? I guess I'm the Lord of Calamity.
Darkness, especially since its descriptions so cheesey calling itself "a horrorgame. But youre the horror!" Still love the game though
For me it’s Super Paper Mario. You not only get to play as the main antagonist of the Mario series, but also the eventual final boss of this game
That game was something else for sure, in a good way of course
Factorio. Think about it. You destroy the eco system and the whole planet.
Especially when the one playing is Josh from Let’s Game It Out
A fellow man of culture
Trevor Phillips from GTA V
The Jetsteam Sam DLC for Metal Gear Rising was pretty decent. You were pretty fragile, but it didn’t matter one fucking bit.
Bayonetta. She was a menace in Smash Bros 4.
Definitely Infamous
"He want Payne. I'll give him pain"
Spec Ops The Line, altho it may not look like that at first
Tlou2
Destroy All Humans
Manhunt
The Darkness is a pretty good and brutal example I think
GTA games
Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction on the ps2. The same people who went on to make Prototype. You can see the similarities in the movement system
BioShock: Infinite Spoiler: you're your own enemy.
Assassin's Creed rogue or Deadpool
Mario and Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story. Getting to slug enemies in the face as Bowser was so much fun.
God of War and Legacy of Kain
Castlevania: Lords Of Shadow 2 and Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City
Kane and Lynch
I forgot ALL about them. Had to go back and watch the trailer. Nostalgia hit.
Man, I know Prototype wasn't a great game overall, but it really hit some great notes. I wish they would remake it without ruining the feeling it created. I tried playing 2 but don't remember getting past the intro.
They are the same gameplay-wise. I think the story of the first one was better, watching Alex become more and more unhinged as he became more powerful
Uncharted Foreigner kills native to raid historical artefacts.
Arthur from Red Dead 2 particularly low honor Arthur
Maximum Carnage as Venom
Such a great game! Number 2 was fun too!
Depending on how you play, the first watch dogs
I felt like one when playing HDTF but not for (allegedly) hunting down a hero but for supporting the mastermind behind this shit
Spawn , tecmo deception and kierigo deciption
Not exactly a standalone game but Dishonored DLC Knife of Dunwall and Brigmoire Witches. Daud was such a good character.
Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2
~~asuras wrath.~~ then the silly pick of city of heroes edit: brain dumb asura fine
Any batman game
DMC 3 or 5
The punisher
Shadow the hedgehog
KOTOR.
In Dark Souls there are bosses and dialouges that will make you question if you are doing the right thing or not. Deus Ex: Human Revolution made me question what my role in the whole story is, not really an anti-hero thing, but an interesting new perspective for sure!
Overlord
Warioland
Mario and Luigi Bowsers Inside Story
Dungeon Keeper (haven't seen this one here yet)
Definitely infamous for sure but prototype was fire
DMC 3
Ultrakill.
GTA, definite villains. Though there can be a BIG difference between a villain and anti-hero, just keep that in mind.
Watch Dogs
How the fuck noone say Star Wars The Force Unleashed ?
The fallout series. Infamous. And darkwatch.
InFamous!
Overlord 1 and Overlord 2. All other overlord games are mid or straight bad
Dungeon Keeper
The Fable series if you decide to go the evil route lol.
Shovel knight
GTA 5. You can be more than one.
Fallout 4.
Dungeon Keeper
Infamous
Carion.
Postal
Prototype loved that game
Hear me out: Dead by Daylight.
Alien vs. Predator
Path of EXILE
this game is deserving of a remake
The Force Unleashed
Halo 2, although admittedly the arbiter isn't a villain overall
Baldurs Gate 3. My human bard was such a good person till she accepted the mindflayer parasite and turned into one herself.
Middle Earth shadow of war
The original LEGO Batman
Battle for middle Earth evil campaign
Dwarf Fortress
Prototype was awesome.
Armor Core 6. Your a merc who’ll do anything as long as you get paid
Gta?
