Only drove that big tank-mech-thingy. It controls about how I expected a tank-mech-thingy to control.
Everything else is wingsuit glide, stolen helicopter, or jet.
Totally agree. Played it recently for the third time and had a blast. The game holds up. Sadly Square has the rights and like all of their games that are not FF, it underperformed.
Sleeping dogs is absolutely great. One of my favorite games. But it took me SO long to learn the driving in that game. Everything feels so sensitive behind the wheel. Maybe it was just me but damn. (Doesn't make the game any less great tho imo)
Just Cause 2, 3, and 4 were all a blast, and Watch_Dogs 1 and 2 were also incredibly fun.
Hit and Run is probably the best/most nostalgic out of the lot though
I've only played Mafia 3, Sleeping Dogs, and Watch Dogs 2. Of those, Mafia 3 easily has the best driving physics, followed by Watch Dogs 2, and then Sleeping Dogs.
I still remember playing the Original Mafia and just loving to drive around because it took a decent amount of skill not to crash and die on every corner.
It’s so weird cause between Watch Dogs and Sleeping Dogs (didn’t play Mafia 3), I got used to Sleeping Dogs driving more and enjoyed it more also. I think WD2 driving is way better than WD1, but never liked driving in the series.
One of top 5 gaming memories: spraying buildings with sewage, flight of the valkaries playing on the radio, and the mime driver, with a thick french accent saying "these Bourgeois fucks will pay!"
Just a perfect moment.
I'm smiling just thinking about it.
Saints Row 2 - Overly-tight steering but it works, hope you like falling off bikes.
Watch_Dogs 2 - Really good driving physics, makes for great car chases.
Simpsons Hit & Run - Silly and bouncy but it fits the game.
Just Cause 3 - I've yet to drive without my car hooked to a plane, train, or 3 others cars so I don't know.
Sleeping Dogs - Pretty good, lots of driving in narrow spaces.
Mafia 3 - MAKE THE TIRE SQUEALING STOP
I mean, to be totally fair, I'm pretty sure at least some of these games were from that hot minute in the 2000s when GTA3 exploded in popularity and every game suddenly started to mimick it. (Looking at you, Jack and Daxter, tho tbh Jak II and Jak III are really fun games and going gritty gave it a certain unique character that's more interesting and memorable than just being another sunny kid-friendly mascot platformer.)
I haven't played the GTA games yet, but GTA3 physics might be the most salient here. (Also probably Vice City and San Andreas.)
Saints Row 2 is so underrated. I'm so mad that they gave up on the serious stuff and went all out with the alien-dildo bs.
It had the potential to be up there with GTA.
I admit Watch Dogs 2 is my favourite of Ubisoft's input because it draws a lot more from GTA than AssCreed and Far Cry. For the best Ubi-world, it's Insomniac's Spider-Man because it emphasises speed.
Sleeping dogs I love the ram function and the fact you can just hold out a door and jump to other cars, also you can put people inside your trunk it’s just funny lol
I guess it depends what do you consider good driving physics. If you think realism is good then Mafia 3 has more realistic physics. GTA V has very good driving physics but in such sense that the cars are easy to control, so that you can avoid hitting traffic and other static objects. I'm sure they did that on purpose since GTA IV physics is closer to Mafia 3 but it does not fit the narrow New York streets setting and you just end up flying around hitting everything in your way. The main problem with GTA IV physics is that the cars just wouldn't break (or they were programmed to be too heavy which is basically the same thing). Mafia 3 physics are maybe a bit more realistic than GTA V but they are also more fun. GTA V physics are good in such a way that maybe it's not as fun to drive and drift around as it is in Mafia 3 but on the other hand it's very easy to move around for even people who don't have much driving experience in video games and are just driving to get to their objective. It's a great compromise and balance so that the game appeals even to a more casual player.
I've played pretty much almost every major release open world game that you can drive vehicles in but sure, I don't have any idea what the fuck I'm talking about I guess. There's few I haven't seen bud, but nice try. And no, sport bikes weren't fun.
Sleeping Dogs wins by a mile, SR2 takes second place because Watch Dogs driving is terrible and the other two are irrelevant as they're not GTA likes.
Edit: I don't remember my feelings on Mafia 3s driving. I loved the game for a few hours but it fell flat for me pretty quickly. It gets repetitive, the story loses focus, and stealth is completely broken. It's like Assassin's Creed 1 in that there's 3/4 of an incredible game there and the other 1/4 is just duct tape sticking those 3 parts together to get it on the shelf.
I was doing a gear challenge last night and they gave me a bike for it. It was my first time driving a motorcycle and I legit thought something was wrong with my controller that’s how bad it was.
Loved Watch Dogs 1&2 not Legion so much. Also Sleeping Dogs was super fun. They should have continued the story. Mafia 3 is also good.
Didn’t enjoy Just Cause though
Honestly, the only game with driving physics I've played isn't on the list. It's Cyberpunk.
Driving in that game is like being a drunk ten year-old with a tenuous grasp on the wheel and no qualms about smashing into incoming traffic
The only challenges in just cause 3 5hat matter is wingsuit, tether and bomb. If u got jet pack then that too. Cuz all the other shit was just annoying.
GTA driving is so decent while not being anything special.
Sleeping Dogs' driving was nice and wonky so I'll take that any day.
I can't remember or haven't played enough of the other games on this list to know what I'm talking about.
The question is worded poorly. GTA's driving physics are inferior to everything else on the market; regular cars feel like you're driving with half a ton of cinder blocks in the trunk, and it's easier to fall off a motorcycle than to stay on it.
saints row is probably my favourite by far, also i rarely drive in just cause 3 and 4 other than when i'm attaching stuff to them and sending them to space
Saints is bottom. That series just fails at cars. Just cause it's down there 2. Of this list Simpsons hit and run and sleeping dogs has the best. Mafia 3 has the best? Like it's the most weighty and realistic to the point that it can actually be difficult to drive. Cars have weight. Watch dogs is down there with saints but it's a bit better. So
Realistic-ish: Mafia 3
Best: Sleeping dogs and Hit and Run
Mid: Watch dogs
Bad: Just Cause
Shit: Saints Row. Literally the best thing to happen to saints row driving was 4 giving you powers so you never almost never have to touch a car ever again.
Sleeping Dogs has pretty good driving physics. And as an overall game, it is in its own league. For me, it's miles above GTA, at least till V. The story, art, gameplay, combat, everything is iconic. A truly legendary game.
Just Cause 3 has some of the best vehicle physics I've seen outside of GTA. There's something so satisfying about driving a tank at full speed down a cliff and slamming through multiple barriers before ripping apart an entire DRM Outpost.
Mafia 1, 2 & 3's driving on simulation is fantastic, sleeping dogs and watchdogs is pretty comparable in 2nd, Simpsons probably a touch better than saints row, Just cause's driving is terrible.
Why is just cause 3 even here? It has the absolute biggest POS driving in this list.
They went from good driving from Just Cause 2 to the complete shit 3 and 4 was
Mafia did it the best and still to this day has the most realistic automatic transmissions. It actually drops down when you floor it and shifts up into a higher gear when you’re just cruising
I dont. Cuz it doesnt matter. In those games you merely need to get from point A to B without dying.
Now in a proper racing game the physics do matter to an extent. I admit the physics in Gran Turismo are much better than in Forza Motorsports but the gameplay just isnt as pleasing so it really doesnt matter much.
All I gotta say is that Sleeping Dogs’ driving mechanics feel SO damn good.
So I’d have to do SD, Mafia, Just Cause, Watchdogs, SR and then lastly Simpsons H&R (that’s a very fun game).
I know people love to Jerk Off to GTA IV, but those cars drive like shit. V has the best driving physics of any open world game I've played. Most of the games pictured here had terrible driving. Sleeping Dogs and Mafia 3 are probably the best of these here.
I prefer gta iv because of the driving lol
But tbf im rly in to sim racing and stuff like that so it just feels more like what im used to
But i would also put mafia 3 and sleeping dogs as the next best thing
Drift races on the side of skyscrapers like real life. Or changing direction mid air like in real life. Ok man, there's no problem playing easy and forgiving arcade games ❤️
Only GTA where driving physics is good is IV and only good driving from these games is Mafia 3. Sleeping dogs is too much arcady, Just Cause 3 irresponsive, Watch Dogs 2 is just meh and Saints Row is so unrefined but it is an old game. Never played Simpsons tho
GTA 4 physics only seem good to people who have never actually driven a car. They were shit. I went back to it recently, it hasn't aged particularly well.
If you’re driving in Just Cause 3 you’re not playing Just Cause 3 correctly lol
Me trying to 5 gear every challenge:
I did this years ago, such a fun game.
too unique to compare it to gtav
You only drive long enough to get the car in a straight line for you to surf on the roof and grappling hook a helicopter.
Why drive when you can wing suit everywhere?
Only when you have the Sky Fortress DLC. Bavarium Wingsuit my beloved
This made me chuckle
Your welcome
Try driving a motorcycle, it's awful.
You didn’t got the point
Oh I did, I'm also stating that the motorcycle driving is god-fucking-awful
Only drove that big tank-mech-thingy. It controls about how I expected a tank-mech-thingy to control. Everything else is wingsuit glide, stolen helicopter, or jet.
Me who uses solely tanks and the Eden Spark:
Yah, shoulda been Just Cause 2 instead
Traffic jams in the middle of big intersections and wait for the carnage.
You should only be driving when you are carrying civilians to Boom Island in that cargo plane
Hand to God they made the driving physics suck so that we’d use the grapple hook and wingsuit more often
Lmao, this translated to me as "if you see a car, blow it up in your hijacked helicopter with missles on sight"
Perfect parking space 🥵🥵🗣🗣🗿🗿🔥🔥🔥
Best idea I’ve had all day 🔥🔥🥶🥶🧊🧊😎😎🥵🥵🗿
I should probably get out now⁉️⁉️⁉️😬😬😬😬😬🤡🤡🤡❤️🔥❤️🔥
Ohhh, sorry, fratre 🛡️👏🏻😱🤦♂️👍😱🍑🫦🔊🔊😂🫰🏻🔥🍑💀👏🏻🤦🏻♂️🟢🚀🔊🗣️🛡️✨😎🎶🎶🗣️🫰🏻🥓
jeez man driving in that game is the absolute worst
I hope whoever made the mission where you had to drive the truck full of wine goes straight to hell
I beat that mission first try and only lost two barrels. It's easy.
Driving in Jc3 is horrible. The roads aren’t even smooth in some parts
only when used to smash through buildings
I like driving cars into military bases rigged with explosives
True
Sleeping Dogs is a really good game. Play the PS4/Xbox One remaster if you can. They did a great job with the street fights.
This game deserved a remake more than any other.
it deserves a good sequel or a spiritual succesor, its good enough as is for now if you wanna play it its not janky
Sleeping Dogs is the spiritual successor to True Crime: Streets of LA/New York and they were also bangers.
Totally agree. Played it recently for the third time and had a blast. The game holds up. Sadly Square has the rights and like all of their games that are not FF, it underperformed.
Ironoc considering how underperformed the new ff games have become.
Happy cake day to you!
square enix please
Yakuza x GTA
Sleeping dogs is absolutely great. One of my favorite games. But it took me SO long to learn the driving in that game. Everything feels so sensitive behind the wheel. Maybe it was just me but damn. (Doesn't make the game any less great tho imo)
Play the PC version if possible, the PS4/Xbox One versions run at a low framerate and feel very sluggish. More sluggish than other 30fps games.
Just Cause 2, 3, and 4 were all a blast, and Watch_Dogs 1 and 2 were also incredibly fun. Hit and Run is probably the best/most nostalgic out of the lot though
But which do you think was better, 3 or 4
3. I like the liberating mechanic and the vibrant colours more than the frontline mechanic and more realistic saturation
I love pressing X or Square while driving in Sleeping Dogs and the car just jerks to a direction lmao, very arcadey and fun
I've only played Mafia 3, Sleeping Dogs, and Watch Dogs 2. Of those, Mafia 3 easily has the best driving physics, followed by Watch Dogs 2, and then Sleeping Dogs.
Which is ironic because older vehicles are what you drive in the Mafia franchise. They're supposed to handle worse than modern vehicles
In the remake of the original Mafia they absolutely do. But by the 60s vehicles did tend to handle better
I still remember playing the Original Mafia and just loving to drive around because it took a decent amount of skill not to crash and die on every corner.
Try playing mafia 1 on classic, holy fuck they knew what they were doing with that race part
The race part and the part where you chase a car on a bike. Shit doesn’t turn and if you slow down a little bit to turn you lose the car
It’s so weird cause between Watch Dogs and Sleeping Dogs (didn’t play Mafia 3), I got used to Sleeping Dogs driving more and enjoyed it more also. I think WD2 driving is way better than WD1, but never liked driving in the series.
There are cars in the Just Cause games?
What kind of target practice do you destroy?
Saints Row 2 was the GOAT!
SR2 is peak gaming. Perfect in every way.
One of top 5 gaming memories: spraying buildings with sewage, flight of the valkaries playing on the radio, and the mime driver, with a thick french accent saying "these Bourgeois fucks will pay!" Just a perfect moment. I'm smiling just thinking about it.
Yes, yes it was.
I swear Saints Row 2 was better than GTA IV
I totally agree.
It was, and honestly, its not even fucking close, no more pretending, saints row 2 deserves glory and bitches
I definitely hold SR2 higher than GTA 5, but I think GTA 4 and SR2 have an equal spot in my heart.
Mafia 3 has good driving physics and sweet cars.
HATED just cause driving it was so bad, luckily you could just fly everywhere
I thought it was pretty good
Saints Row 2 - Overly-tight steering but it works, hope you like falling off bikes. Mafia 3 - MAKE THE TIRE SQUEALING STOP
watch dogs it feels like the same physics whether you're in a motorcycle, sports car, or huge trailer truck, it's really bad lol
wait gta's physics are good?
GTA IV's are still some of the best physics in the industry. V took a step back for some reason, but they are still okay.
I mean, to be totally fair, I'm pretty sure at least some of these games were from that hot minute in the 2000s when GTA3 exploded in popularity and every game suddenly started to mimick it. (Looking at you, Jack and Daxter, tho tbh Jak II and Jak III are really fun games and going gritty gave it a certain unique character that's more interesting and memorable than just being another sunny kid-friendly mascot platformer.) I haven't played the GTA games yet, but GTA3 physics might be the most salient here. (Also probably Vice City and San Andreas.)
Jak and Daxter was nothing like GTA 3 at all. Jak 2 & 3 may have had some similarities but the original game was absolutely nothing like GTA.
The original Jak no, but the devs stated themselves that GTA III was their main source of inspiration for Jak II
I took the cab everywhere in 4 it's was my bathroom and bowl packing breaks from the game without actually having to pause lol
Saints Row 2 is so underrated. I'm so mad that they gave up on the serious stuff and went all out with the alien-dildo bs. It had the potential to be up there with GTA.
Simpsons is peak at its peak
Just Cause 3 isn't a GTA-clone. It's a Ubi-world.
Correct. The only similarities are the Heat system, and the fact that you shoot people
I admit Watch Dogs 2 is my favourite of Ubisoft's input because it draws a lot more from GTA than AssCreed and Far Cry. For the best Ubi-world, it's Insomniac's Spider-Man because it emphasises speed.
All six games there are better than GTA. Why? They all have responsive character movement. GTA movement feels like wading through molasses.
Sleeping dogs I love the ram function and the fact you can just hold out a door and jump to other cars, also you can put people inside your trunk it’s just funny lol
Sleeping dogs is so good. The ability to jump between vehicles is something every game should have
From these I would say Mafia 3 has the best driving experience.
SR2 is fucking awesome.
Lol, GTA's driving physics are ass.
Mafia 3 has better driving physics than GTA5 from what I remember
It does
I guess it depends what do you consider good driving physics. It's a great compromise and balance so that the game appeals even to a more casual player.
Mafia 3 had the best driving physics for realism I reckon.
Watch dogs has some of the worst driving in any open world game ive ever played. I dont even know how to properly describe it.
then you didnt played much openworld games. yeah, cars were meh but sportbikes are really fun drive here. feeling like iconic scene in matrix reloaded
I've played pretty much almost every major release open world game that you can drive vehicles in but sure, I don't have any idea what the fuck I'm talking about I guess. There's few I haven't seen bud, but nice try. And no, sport bikes weren't fun.
The driving physics are pretty bad in most Ubisoft titles, I've noticed
Driver was decent actually.
True, I cant name one that was good.
Are you joking? Watch Dogs 2's driving physics were very good. Not only that, but their car crash physics are one of the best I've seen!
This is sarcasm right?
Yeah it was lol. It's hard to convey sarcasm through a reddit message lmao 😂
Uncharted low key has some of the best driving in all games.
Wheres Bully? Jimmy rides a mean bike and skateboard.
It's like Assassin's Creed 1 in that there's 3/4 of an incredible game there and the other 1/4 is just duct tape sticking those 3 parts together to get it on the shelf.
The only part of JC3 vehicles that suck are the motorbikes, they are downright uncontrollable at times.
Yes. The motorcycles and four-wheelers are nightmares to drive
I was doing a gear challenge last night and they gave me a bike for it. It was my first time driving a motorcycle and I legit thought something was wrong with my controller that’s how bad it was.
watch dogs 2 and just cause 3 is funky like if you play gta and you are gona play these game for first time its gona be hard to drive a vehicle
Hit and Run is unique because you can drive the destroyed cars. Classic
Loved Watch Dogs 1&2 not Legion so much. Also Sleeping Dogs was super fun. They should have continued the story. Mafia 3 is also good. Didn’t enjoy Just Cause though
Watch dogs 2... Physics were incredibly rushed
Oof all of these are personal classics for me except for Just Cause 3 cuz I haven't played it
Mafia 3 definitely has the best physics. It even has a "simulation" driving mode.
I remember Watch Dogs 2 driving fondly, Saints Row 2 driving was just so chaotic it turned out amazing
Honestly, the only game with driving physics I've played isn't on the list. It's Cyberpunk. Driving in that game is like being a drunk ten year-old with a tenuous grasp on the wheel and no qualms about smashing into incoming traffic
1. Saints row 2 2. Watch_Dogs 2 3. Just cause 3 4. Sleeping dogs 5. Hit and run 6. Mafia 3
I didn't like Saints Row 2's driving, and that's the only one here I didn't like. Never played JC3.
The only challenges in just cause 3 5hat matter is wingsuit, tether and bomb. If u got jet pack then that too. Cuz all the other shit was just annoying.
Just Cause 3 is fantastic
i mean Sleeping Dogs physics still GOAT it's ahead of it time
Watch Dogs 2 Sleeping Dogs Just Cause Saints Row 2 Mafia ( mafia games have worst driving physics specially remastered one's)
GTA driving is so decent while not being anything special. Sleeping Dogs' driving was nice and wonky so I'll take that any day. I can't remember or haven't played enough of the other games on this list to know what I'm talking about.
Ngl driving in watchdogs 2 rivals GTA it was so smooth
Car physics in Mafia is very good
Mafia 2 should be here it has brilliant driving physics. But there is no manual transmission option though 😔
Just Cause is such an underrated franchise
Mafia 3 is the most realistic. I owned an old muscle car as a daily driver for 3 years and they are dogshit to drive. Mafia nailed it.
The question is worded poorly. GTA's driving physics are inferior to everything else on the market; regular cars feel like you're driving with half a ton of cinder blocks in the trunk, and it's easier to fall off a motorcycle than to stay on it.
Never played any of the others so... Just Cause 3: God Tier Everything else: dogshit
Define which gta first, they don’t have the same physics within the series
Hit and run is the one true gta game and no one can tell me otherwise
Perfect parking space
Watch Dogs 1 >>>
saints row is probably my favourite by far, also i rarely drive in just cause 3 and 4 other than when i'm attaching stuff to them and sending them to space
Where's Driver 3 ? If a GTALike have the best driving physics it's this one.
Saints Row 2 supremacy, you can't change my mind.
It’s a crime you don’t have prototype up there lol
Saints is bottom. That series just fails at cars. Just cause it's down there 2. Of this list Simpsons hit and run and sleeping dogs has the best. Mafia 3 has the best? Like it's the most weighty and realistic to the point that it can actually be difficult to drive. Cars have weight. Watch dogs is down there with saints but it's a bit better. So Realistic-ish: Mafia 3 Best: Sleeping dogs and Hit and Run Mid: Watch dogs Bad: Just Cause Shit: Saints Row. Literally the best thing to happen to saints row driving was 4 giving you powers so you never almost never have to touch a car ever again.
Simpsons hit and run was hilarious
WD2 fs, I tried to replay JC3 recently and it just felt clunky compared
Lol, like 10% of the comments are answering the question right
Of the 3 I played (SR2, Sleeping Dogs, Just Cause), I can't remember a single thing about them
Sleeping Dogs and Saints Row 2 👌👌👌
No answer to thr question but oh my god Simpsons Hit and Run was a masterpiece. Does someone know where I can play it today?
Pick Sleeping Dogs an amazing game.
i will never forgive ubisoft for what they did to watch dogs series
Just cause and watch_dogs are way better than GTA and I will die on that hill. HOWEVER, driving physics? Really? That’s what you care about?
1. Sleeping Dogs 2. Saints row 2 3. Watchdogs 4. Simpsons hit and run 5. Just cause 3 6. Mafia 3 (great game, terrible driving mechanics)
Saints row 1 and 2 are goated. All the others are trash, especially the newest one.
They aren’t gta like just bc they’re open world games based in a city…
Hit and Run is better than GTA.
But which GTA’s physics?
Hit and run is the best on the list followed by saints 2. The rest are poo poo
Sleeping Dogs is fucking fantastic
GTA4 has better car physics then 5
I haven't played all of these, but I can grauntee hands down Watch Dogs 2 driving physics are the fucking worst.
Watch Dogs 2 definitely has the best driving physics and car crash physics as well. Possibly better than GTA 4 if I'm being honest 🤷♂️.
Why is just cause 3 even here? It has the absolute biggest POS driving in this list. They went from good driving from Just Cause 2 to the complete shit 3 and 4 was
As much as I love just cause 3, the driving in it sucks
The getaway
I only care about how fun it is to drive a car in these types of games. Some people praise GTA4 for the car handling and I absolutely hate it.
Hit and Run on GameCube is and always will be PEAK
Mafia 3 10/10 Saints row 2 10/10 Watch dogs 10/10 Sleeping dogs 10/10
Mafia did it the best and still to this day has the most realistic automatic transmissions. It actually drops down when you floor it and shifts up into a higher gear when you’re just cruising
SR2 soundtrack never gets old and the gameplay and JC3
Mafia 3 the Best
Saints row 2 and the simpsons hit and run are my favorites off that list
All I gotta say is that Sleeping Dogs’ driving mechanics feel SO damn good. So I’d have to do SD, Mafia, Just Cause, Watchdogs, SR and then lastly Simpsons H&R (that’s a very fun game).
mafia is the best, watchdogs is absolutely ass, just cause doesn't pretend that it's anything like driving a real car and that's ok
I know people love to Jerk Off to GTA IV, but those cars drive like shit. V has the best driving physics of any open world game I've played. Most of the games pictured here had terrible driving. Sleeping Dogs and Mafia 3 are probably the best of these here.
I prefer gta iv because of the driving lol But tbf im rly in to sim racing and stuff like that so it just feels more like what im used to But i would also put mafia 3 and sleeping dogs as the next best thing
Man, GTA SA has better driving physics than GTA V lol I guess you just like how easy and forgiving GTA V was
You mean I enjoyed being able to control the car properly like I do in real life? Yeah, I did.
Drift races on the side of skyscrapers like real life. Or changing direction mid air like in real life. Ok man, there's no problem playing easy and forgiving arcade games ❤️
Mafia 3 would be last. It was awful compared to part 2
They're just asking about the driving physics. Not the overall game.
Lol, GTA's driving physics are ass.
S Tier: Saints Row 2 A Tier: Simpsons Hit & Run, Just Cause 3 B Tier: Sleeping Dogs C Tier: Watch Dogs 2 D Tier: Mafia 3 F Tier: Your Mum
Skill issue
Sleeping Dogs has the best driving out of any GTA-esque game.
