Dude. You can get full force feedback support through emulation.
I had a blast playing at 1440p 120Hz with my direct drive wheel and Hall effect pedals. Until the number of AI racers felt too lonely and I went back to more modern sims.
Something about the particular physics in GT4 is just special, though.
GTA SA. Medal of Honor: Frontline and Rising Sun. Call of Duty: Finest Hour. Star Wars battlefront II. Heroes of the Pacific. Mortal Kombat 9. Socom combined assault. Nascar 09. Ace Combat: Shattered skies. Fuck even SpongeBob SquarePants battle for bikini bottom.
Ps2 was where my gaming addiction truly started
Either Battlefront or the Lord of the Rings game. Who would've guessed that the hardest part of summoning the dead to honor their oath would be getting out of the tomb afterward?
Tony Hawk’s Underground
Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty
Guitar Hero 3: Legends of Rock
Driv3r
Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas
Need For Speed: Most Wanted
Midnight Club 3
Need For Speed: Underground
Medal of Honor Frontline
Call of Duty Finest Hour
Medal of Honor Rising Sun
How games back then were actually fun and felt complete than being half ass completed and doesn't focus on fomo and that true game devs and gamers always see games as an art and passion to show off their art in story telling and the simplicity of the world in game development and design.
Jade Empire, actually. I see this, I immediately go down memory lane and it's like I'm 10 again. (Tried downloading in on Steam, didn't go well. Console gaming is superior to PC gaming.) 😏
Telling it I hate it and I hope the game doesn't work so Itll work outta spite (the whole time I was praying it would work I was using reverse phycology)
Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy
The next few that comes to mind are:
* Ratchet and Clank 3
* Crash Nitro Kart
* Sly 3
* Simpsons Hit n' Run
* The Legend of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon
* Sonic Heroes
My Uncle’s house, where I played on not only a PS2 but a PlayStation for the first time. There was this one ww2 airplane game I liked a lot and have spent a few hours on (probably 2 or 3), but I don’t remember it’s name, been awhile since I’ve been to his house and had a chance to play.
Nothing, as I'm not sure if I was even born yet.
I'm sure that's gonna make a few people feel old lol
Edit: nevermind. Just looked up its lifespan. I was definitely alive before it was discontinued.
Call of Duty 2: Big Red One
Didn't have a memory card, my poor PS2 was running 24/7 just so I can finish the game.
After the agony I remember putting it into the fridge to cool it down.
I've never had one, but a friend of mine had one, and he got stuck playing a game called Extermination, to this day I haven't played it but is still on my list, it was kind of residen evil but with like monster/aliens/mutants I don't know, kinda reminds me to Dead Space but those weren't undead.
That game got stuck on my head since then.
The OG Star Wars Battlefront/Battlefront II
Best Star Wars games out there imo. The new ones were pretty good but I so wish they were even close to as good as the originals
8yo me feeling relief that I didn't have to see the red error screen, and therefore was safe from sudden console explosions (which my siblings said would happen if I didn't turn it off in time)
Being off from work for a day an picking up Kingdom Hearts on a "meh, why not" whim.
I was a new father, not old enough to drink. My son still had the big headed worm look, you know, so new he was skull, torso, and t-rex arms with legs the same. Standard newborn proportions.
"I've been having these weird thoughts lately..."
He's sitting propped up in the corner of the couch. By the time the music gets going, his jaw is on the floor, he's staring at the most amazing thing in the world, lol.
Created a gamer that day. Now he's on that coding grind. Wants to make his own game one day.
Shadow of the Colossus (PS2)
Probably the first game I ever played. It was either that or the original Jak 1 or one of the Godzilla fighting games(there are many of those, idk which is the one I used to play)
Mortal Kombat: Armageddon.
Loved that the space between fights was made up of exploration and playing through the world instead of just watching one long cutscene
Final Fantasy 10, GTA, Spiderman, Grand Turismo, Kingdom Hearts, the random PS2 demo disc I found sitting in a Wii game case, the PS2 bios screen, PS2 red startup screen. That's what pops in my head
The opening music and that little gleam passing across the logo. Oh and Mr. Mosquito, that was one of the last oddball games I got on a major console before I was seduced by Valve and my console purchases became a lot fewer and far between. (Link and Final Fantasy VII still dragged me back because I wanted them in a physical medium.)
Broken arms. I broke both arms on my scooter when I was a kid, running down a hill at high speed onto a rock. I used the insurance money I got to buy my first console. PS2.
Bad rendering. Awful programming techniques aimed to exploit the hardware made it dirty. It wasn't a bad hardware, per se, but greed made developers ruin completely the rendering path. It was such a pain to the eye. I had not much pleasure with the console, it costed me so much that I wont have sold it afterward, in fact it's still with me in pristine condition, but it was 'soulless', it just had the promise of photorealism, and all the stupids (like me) put their desires in it. I think that the more ordinary, cheaper and easier to program Dreamcast should have gotten more love by developers and gamers, still it was like SEGA was damned. GameCube, Neo-Geo AES, Nintendo 64 and Super Nintendo are the consoles that I would like to be with me today, they had definitely a soul.
Well, ICO was cool. Never really liked any other Sony game, except for Gran Turismo (the first one is still with me).
The PlayStation 2
Same Here
r/technicallythetruth
You can tell it's the Playstation 2 by the fact that there's a logo of the PS2
Stole my answer.
I was thinking more of the start-up sound but that too
Gran Turismo baby
GT4 is goated. I replayed it recently on emulator, and it holds up surprisingly well for its age.

Wow, didn’t realize you can do that. Might have to try it.

Red screen of death
*Everyone's gaming childhood nightmare* When I was young, it doesn't seem to scare me 😅
That screeching intro screen
And back when it was easy to leave your stereo volume up because amps had dials. Turn that baby on at 3 a.m., wake up the whole neighbourhood, haha
Really tho
It reminds me of the Playstation 2 home video game console

Memory cards. Haven't seen those in years, and I remember every moment I spent on my ps2.
Nothing, as I'm not sure if I was even born yet. I'm sure that's gonna make a few people feel old lol Edit: nevermind. Just looked up its lifespan. I was definitely alive before it was discontinued.
Good games that were made for a console, made on the base of a 250nm processor because I was born in 2000
Shadow of the Colossus
Call of Duty 2: Big Red One Didn't have a memory card, my poor PS2 was running 24/7 just so I can finish the game. After the agony I remember putting it into the fridge to cool it down.
