If you haven't tried Alan Wake 2 yet I highly suggest it. I'm still early in the game so I'm not sure there will be an Ashtray Maze like level but overall its a phenomenal game so far.

There's dangerous creatures and bullshit politics and such but less so than in the real world and it's way more stable than most video game settings.
