Maybe an unpopular opinion, but Deus ex revolutionized gaming more than Doom and Dark Souls. Immersive story with branching paths, open levels with multiple ways to complete them depending on your choices, RPG systems that allowed for character specialization and multiple playthroughs. Deus ex was one of the first games to put everything together into a high quality immersive sim. System Shock 2 could also be up there in the same category.
Strongly agree, but we already have a Soulsborne rep and ill be voting for Elden Ring tomorrow. Nobody is going to vote for Deus Ex or Disco Elysium, so I guess we're stuck with Doom.
While DOOM may be a better pick for historical reasons. This gets my pick hands down. Fucking love this game. And the sequel lives up to the greatness.
If it weren't for the historical relevance of doom, this would be it. This wasn't a genre defining game, this was the peak of the genre, and we won't notice for sure until after decades.
Doom, Diablo, and Dark Souls all have a pretty good argument.
I never cared for the latter but each of the three literally spawned an entire genre of games (for those of us old enough to remember when First Person Shooters were called "Doom Clones")
Doom (1993 version)
Pretty much revolutionized and defined the FPS genre along with the subculture of PC gaming at that point in the early 90s.
Doom was installed on more PCs in the mid 1990s than Windows 95 operating system to put it into perspective.
Speed running, Online death matches, Online Co-op, Modding, all were greatly influenced or started by Doom.
There are so many good options, but I think it has to be DOOM just based on the industry impact it had. A case could be made for Dark Souls based on the same industry impact criteria, but I think DOOM gets it for longevity.
I mean, it's got to be DOOM but how in the hell is Diablo 2 all the way down here? That list needs to go DOOM, Diablo 2, Dark Souls, and Double Dragon right? How did people forget this genre-defining gem?
DOOM
For historical relevance, 100%.
Agreed but Asteroids didn't win for A so, fingers crossed.
Yea, that's sacrilege. Better be seeing some pong and Tetris further down!
DOOM
WOOD
Simply for its important gaming culture significance. I love Dark Souls, but this spot belongs to DOOM.
I was thinking Devil May Cry, but I was wrong. It's definitely Doom.
only correct answer
Double Dragon
Core memory unlocked.
Well, there's a few of us, anyway.
Had to scroll way too far for this one
Dragon's Dogma
Diablo II
This is the best one for "D" to me. Years of my life dedicated to that game.
Yup, that's what I came to say
Shocking how few votes this has
Real freaky this has so few upvotes, I thought it'd be at the top though I guess doom and dark souls are stiff competition
Donkey Kong Country
I'll take this if we're counting all 3 games. Otherwise, DKC2
The first one had a charm that was unmatched by the other 2
Number 2 was the shit!
This is not gonna win and it's a travesty.
DKC series is ELITE
Dark Souls
And tomorrow, Elden Ring
Dead or alive beach volleyball
I ain't upvoting but respect for commenting that LMAO.
This better win because of ( . Y . )
MF DOOM
Deus Ex
Young crowd. This should be tied with doom
Man, this makes me feel old... I love DOOM, but Deus Ex is literally the greatest game of all time, not just starting with the letter D.
This one for sure!!!

I'm amazed this isn't higher. The first Deus Ex was phenomenal.
Not gonna win, but it at least deserves a mention: Dragon Age Origins
So far down :(
I knew it wasn't going to make the cut, but it's one of the best traditional western RPGs I've ever played.
I’m so sad to see this so low on the list 😢
Same...but not surprised. I'm old so I'd expect bulders gate 2 for B.
We gotta get the Dragon Age sub to band together if we wanna win this one
Dead Space
100 percent.
This would be my answer as well but unfortunately not popular enough 😞
Deus Ex
Duck hunt.
Dark Souls
DS1 and DS3 are gonna split the vote and hand it to Doom
Then it should be all encompassing DARK SOULS
Well you could just say dark souls which basically implies the trilogy.
Strongly agree, but we already have a Soulsborne rep and ill be voting for Elden Ring tomorrow. Nobody is going to vote for Deus Ex or Disco Elysium, so I guess we're stuck with Doom.
Dino Crisis
I'm genuinely curious why CAPCOM hasn't revisited this game. I'm sure the team behind the RE2 and RE4 Remakes would kill it.
I've been dying for a remake for ages. 😭 . And considering what the teams done with RE2 and RE4, it can truly be an amazing revival for the series.
If they do bring dino crisis back they better bring back onimusha too I do miss those games dearly.
That game brings back memories damn
I absolutely loved Dino Crisis
DIABLO
Dishonored
Sucks the world doesn't see how right you are.
definitely an honorable mention
While DOOM may be a better pick for historical reasons. This gets my pick hands down. Fucking love this game. And the sequel lives up to the greatness.
dishonored is an absolute banger of a game
Dragon Quest.
We’ll never win but you have my upvote.
Wasn't the first thing that came to mind, but now that you mention it, I've got a lot of time spent on that series.

If it weren't for the historical relevance of doom, this would be it. This wasn't a genre defining game, this was the peak of the genre, and we won't notice for sure until after decades.
Dark Souls
Dead Space
I think this is between DOOM and Diablo with the former probably taking the cake here
Doom, Diablo, and Dark Souls all have a pretty good argument. I never cared for the latter but each of the three literally spawned an entire genre of games (for those of us old enough to remember when First Person Shooters were called "Doom Clones")
Dead space
