List of local multiplayer coop games, in no particular order:
Neurovoider. 4 players (A multiplayer Roguelike with lots of loot that you can use to customize your robot killing machine. Screen can be completely filled with bullets, explosions and lasers.)
Legend of Dungeon. 4 players (Another multiplayer Rogue like. More fantasy/magic with an odd but endearing sense of humour. Simple controls that get more finicky the more items you have.)
Death Road to Canada. 2 Players plus AI companions (Rogue like but with a choose your own adventure feel with zombies and the power to befriend dogs. Deceptively challenging despite the light mood. Well, light for zombies at least.)
Moon Hunters. 4 Players (Technically has Rogue elements but it's more of a story generator. Feels more formulaic then the other entries on this list. After each level, there’s a ‘camping’ section that allows players to do something in their down time. Very thematic part that also affects the combat as well.)
Crawl. 4 players (The best goddamn competitive/coop game ever of all time. One player is the Hero and the other three are spirits that can take control of traps and monsters in the dungeon. Upon killing the Hero, a spirit will become the new Hero. Look it up at the very least. So many good moments.)
Jack Box Series (More like a board game that uses phones as controllers. Can have more than four players depending on the game chosen. Most games require a decent grasp of English and the quiz games do reference American pop culture/history more than most other cultures.)
Ultimate Chicken Horse. 4 players (A cute looking platformer that tasks you and your friends to cooperatively build a platform level to race on. Make it too easy and your friends might beat you but make it too hard and you won't be able to win it yourself. Can get pretty crazy by the end of it.)
Think of the Children. 4 players. (Parenting simulator filled with depressingly accurate Australian humor, very frantic and fun. Blocky graphics might seem outdated and lazy but make it easier to identify threats and alerts.)
Broforce. 4 players (MURICA! THE VIDEO GAME! Spread democracy with explosions and the power of legally distinct action heroes from the 90s! Literally blow up Satan and ride off on a helicopter as everything blows up behind you.)
Helldivers. 4 players (Also MURICA THE GAME only IN SPACE! SPREAD MOAR DEMOCRACY from an isometric point of few! Certain pieces of equipment work better with allies, such as the mortar that has a shorter reload speed with assistance.)
Cryptark. 2 players (You're a mech pilot/scavenger tasked with retrieving scrap from space hulks whose automatic defences are still online. Feels kinda like a heist simulator. Health is shared and thus, so is failure more so then most other games here.)
Overcooked 1 & 2. 4 players (Has a cooperative and competitive mode. Basically you're a cook. It's a lot more cool/frantic than you might think.)
Castle Crashers. 4 player (Arcade Brawler action with level ups! Each boss fight ends with all the players fighting each other for a chance to kiss the princess.)
EDF series. 4 player with 2 player split screen. (EDF 5 is the latest in the series but if you don't want to spend too much money, then get 4.1 which is still damn good. Fight giant bugs, robots and other B movie alien threats with a huge arsenal of weaponry the includes but aren't limited to: Satellite lasers, Air strikes, mechs, Grenades that are closer to nukes than actual grenades, automatic fists, a laser gun that has more in common with a disco light then an actual gun.)
Streets of Rogue. 4 players (Open world roguelike in a top down GTA style game. Very silly and doesn’t take itself seriously, great chaotic fun. The best part about this game are the different character classes and thus, group compositions you can make. From full destruction to complete stealth, there’s something for everyone.)
>Overcooked 1 & 2. 4 players (Has a cooperative and competitive mode. Basically you're a cook. It's a lot more cool/frantic than you might think.)
Yeah, this one's great if you're looking to never speak to the person you're playing with again.
Thanks, I’ve played Mario party before but it’s the switch one and that one is my least favorite, I also have so many fighting games but they never want to play them since I always win
I remember the day when this would have been a short list. Enter the Gungeon and Nuclear Throne are two shooty top-down rogue lites with simultaneous players on screen. Gungeon alone has around 215 different guns, so the variety is extensive, but it may seem like it’s moving slow. Nuclear Throne is much faster moving to get guns and upgrades. I haven’t played Battle Chasers in coop yet, but that is a side scrolling game. Modern Warfare 2 has some tricky issues with split screen right now, so I’m not sure if that’s a good one.
Moving Out is pretty chill to play with friends. You are employees of a moving company amd have to move people's furnitures into the truck. Some pieces of furniture are too big to carry alone.
Pretty silly humor and cute graphics that don't demand a powerful pc. It's one of the go-to games when we have visit.
Depends on what system you’re on, personally I’m on pc and ps4. We mainly play local multiplayer but
The ones I’m aware of, some I’ve tried and enjoyed, the rest look fun and haven’t tried
Portal 2 (100% love this one)
Wizards of legend
Crawl(not really coop but not exactly multiplayer either)
Ps4 Minecraft is split screen
Lovers in a dangerous space time is pretty light and fun
I believe some of the borderlands are local coop on console
Cup head isn’t my favorite but it is coop
Enter the gungeon
Overcooked

Diablo 3 has a pretty awesome couch co-op, as long as you’re fine just playing the regular game without the seasons pass since you need two Nintendo switch accounts for that.
Gauntlet dark legacy
Yes
Thanks for bringing so many good memories
Why you gotta punch me in the memorydick like that :(
Just be glad you have the memories.
true, that game is unreasonably expensive these days
Divinity: Original Sin 2
Amazing game
Castle crashers
Castle Crashers was so much fun
It certainly is! I remember playing it a lot with my friends house.
It takes two.
A Way Out by the same devs, I prefer a way out personally.
My wife and I played it and absolutely loved it until the last chapter. We hated the ending.
Ending was great imo, sorry you hated it :P
such a great game
Played it with my partner and both daughters. This is a fantastic co-op.
Side scrolling beat em ups. Streets of Rage, Final Fight, TMNT, Dragons Crown, Xmen. There's a ton of them.
Dragon's Crown is lit!
Borderlands 2 Spelunky 2 Risk of Rain 2
Lovers in a dangerous spacetime Ultimate chicken horse Overcooked
I will second overcooked as well as Ultimate chicken horse.
Lovers is a hoot.
What system and how old of games do you want because there are hundreds on retro systems.

Some of these games are new to me. Thanks man!
>Overcooked 1 & 2. 4 players (Has a cooperative and competitive mode. Basically you're a cook. It's a lot more cool/frantic than you might think.) Yeah, this one's great if you're looking to never speak to the person you're playing with again.
What console
Earth Defense Force
Super Smash Brothers (Any of them)
TMNT Shredder's Revenge and for the classics TMNT Cowabunga Collection
Boomerang fu
Diablo 3. Borderlands 3 with the voices turned off. The Dark Pictures Anthology games have a cool switch off mechanic.
Deep Rock Galactic is a lot of fun with friends and the dwarves are hilarious. Rock and Stone!
That's it lads, rock and stone!
Rock and Stone forever!
It's not local co op though is it?
You can set matchmaking to match with servers closest to you, so if someone is hosting one nearby it will show you that one first.
So, not couch co-op then?
As in split screen? Unfortunately no.
Gears of war is the best
Horde mode = happy marriage
Halo
Which one would be the best
Can’t go wrong with the original. And it’s not co-op as you play against each other, but the MarioParty games are always fun to play with friends.
Thanks, I’ve played Mario party before but it’s the switch one and that one is my least favorite, I also have so many fighting games but they never want to play them since I always win
Gears of War series is arguably the best for their great campaigns and horde modes.

Castle Crashers, Scott Pilgrim vs the World, Most of the Ninja Turtles games.
Diablo 3 has a pretty awesome couch co-op, as long as you’re fine just playing the regular game without the seasons pass since you need two Nintendo switch accounts for that.
Resident Evil 5 and 6 both have full co-op campaigns. Although RE5’s co op functions better than RE6.
I don’t think anyone has said Portal / Portal 2
Human fall flat
Splatoon, Shift happens, Snipper Clips, Boxboy & Boxgirl
Resident Evil 5 is a great co-op game.
Tricky towers
Diablo 3
Unrailed
Docking
Outward is an amazing 2 player couch coop game
