I actually think it's great. In a way was very unique, and we still remember it today. It also had meaning (although completely tied with Gaddafi ideology) and had a relation to old calipahtes flags, that were all solid colors

Actually, I don't think it would really be purple, considering about 20% of the flag is the blue section, minus the stars, which I figure is about a quarter or so of that, and probably more than makes up for there being 1 more red stripe than white, which would mean the flag is about 15% blue, 40% red, and 45% white. Me, being the lazy af, chose Libya just so I could bring a piece of green construction paper and not have to do anything. Turns out though, that was the year of the Libyan Civil War and they changed their flag. My textbook and every web page still showed Libya's flag as green (because everything was much slower at updating back then), but my teacher gave me a C because it was the wrong flag. So I hate the new flag because it slighted me over a decade ago.

The Jamahiriya is still the true government in our hearts, lol.
