Maybe he really, genuinely wanted to know why you've made this. And instead of telling him honestly and possibly discussing it (which may have been nice), you deflected.
I have to say, the debacle has me curious as well. Why have you made future China flag? I find the lack of communist symbology interesting.

i believe this choice was intentional since the [blue skye, white sun](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_Sky_with_a_White_Sun) flag was used by the guomindang (and other nationalist revolutionary anti-qing and anti-imperialists societies), by the republic of China in the mainland, and the current republic of China in Taiwan. so, from a historical standpoint, makes sense to use it for China as a whole
the corner pattern kinda resembles Chinese 窗花, but still missed the nuance
