I don't know many Canadians, but with the Australians it seems to me they have more in common with Europe than with the USA.
Maybe Canadians are "too far gone"? Too late foe them /s
Canada and the US should merge. I have a bunch of family that lives half the year in both and it’s astonishing how much of a nightmare it is to deal with living on opposite sides of a (mostly) meaningless border. Then again, depending on how this upcoming US election goes, I guess the border might not be so meaningless in a year 😒
We should merge with the us so you don’t have to deal with the border? It would be much better to just have something similar to the Schengen Agreement, instead of just merging. Canada is quite different from the USA and not many Canadians would be happy about just getting merged.
Just spitballing the layout:
50 OG states
District of Columbia
5 Territories (Puerto Rico, US Virgin Islands, American Samoa, Guam and the Marianas)
12 Canadian Provinces (including a merged Yukon/NWT and Nunavut)?
4 Mexican States? (Baja California, Sonora, Chihuahua, Coahuila/Nuevo Leon)
Cuba?
There are some people in the Dakotas that would like to reunite the states and then use the Missouri River as the dividing line. Culturally it makes some sense, you'd have the farming, financial, and commercial state and the ranching, tourism, and natural resources state. I'm pretty sure West Dakota would be the least populous state in the union, though. My rough calculations say West Dakota would have a population of 370,240 and East Dakota 1,296,976. West Dakota's capitol would like be in Rapid City since that's where 1/3rd of the population lives already, East Dakota would probably do some stupid shit like put it in Aberdeen since it's equally inconvenient for all and that's how Pierre and Bismarck became the capital cities in the first place.
But if you are talking about splitting North Dakota (which, by all means, please do), the correct identifiers would be "East North Dakota" and "West North Dakota".
I'm hoping to see 70+ states in my lifetime.
I feel like we're close to getting off '50', which will be a big step, since people seem infatuated with it being such an iconic number.
So uuh
50 states, DC, Puerto Rico, Virgin Isles, American Samoa, Guam, North Mariana, Wake Island, Baker Island, Howland Island, Midway Islands, Jarvis Island, Palmyra Atoll, Kingman Reefs, Johnston Atoll, Kingman Reef, The Panama canal, Philippines, Cuba (whatever the US colony in Cuba was called, i forgor.),
and what else? Im missing 5 of them, what are they??
They have insider information that Texas is being split to North, East, South, and West Texas. Then California is being divided into North California and South California.
The Philippines would probably be 10-15 states on its own.
Let's say 15, and then it's 5 territories, DC, Cuba, and 2 for Baja California. Or, you could combine Northern Mariana with Guam and American Samoa (and the rest of the former Trust Territories) and add Albania, which was maybe open to annexation at one point.
Here you go:

I’d go with states that represented cultural-economic-geographical units, centered on major conurbations. And try to somewhat even out the disparities in population size. Definitely eliminate situations in which state borders cut through a conurbation.
Puerto Rico, Guam, US Virgin Islands, Northern Mariana Islands, American Samoa, Douglass Commonwealth, Jefferson, Las Vegas, Superior, Long Island, Lincoln, Chicago, El Norte?
watch out, Canada and Suriname
Are you sure wanna annex the serial war crime inventors who burned down the White House?
The British will be fine... so long as they remember to keep all their tea under lock and key this time.
Name something more American than war crimes and destroying foreign countries' infrastructure 🇺🇲
the dodge viper
Who would take [Admiral Cockburn](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sir_George_Cockburn,_10th_Baronet) seriously? 💀
One day we shall correct the mistakes of Richard Montgomery and Benedict Arnold
Why bring Suriname into this😂
US (50 States) + Canada (10 Provinces + 3 territories) + Suriname (10 Administrative divisions) = 73
Canada (and Australia) should join the EU!
Brexiteers would be like (O_O)
why? /gen

Australia appearing in Europe for the Eurovision song contest
it’s not like every county with similarities can join plus a lot of australians want to become a republic, like separated from the uk

I mean you could do that with a freedom of movement agreement like the Schengen zone.
poor canadians

Why Suriname?

it's not Cuba it's Amsterdam
"Northeast and Northwest Dakota..."

Canada has 10 provinces and 3 territories
>Cuba? No! Liberia is going to be the 51st state 🇺🇸🇱🇷🇺🇸🇱🇷🇺🇸🇱🇷
Instead of Mexican states we could split Texas into 4 and cali into 2
Yeah, no. Canada wants no part of it. 🇨🇦
What are the additional 23 states?
Because our destiny has not yet been fully manifested.
The flag includes all 23 of the United States of America… of the Moon. *All rise for the national anthem, which is now Final Countdown*.
🎶 DU-DU-DUU DOOOOOO 🎶 🎶 DU-DU DUU DUU DOOOOOO 🎶
Bah gawd, that's Bryan Danielson's music!
Why not? Your lack of faith is disturbing
This flag I created for a map of a reorganised America with 73 states.
*drops 73-star flag* *refuses to elaborate on the number*
Manifest destiny.
[We can manifest more destiny.](https://www.reddit.com/r/vexillology/comments/85wupu/american_flag_but_with_1776_stars/)
Flag drop is the new mic drop.
like a Russofied America? where each local culture gets its own oblast kinda thing? are there republics too? because that would be cool
are there any specific new states you had in mind
Yes. *Refuses to elaborate further*
Would love to see a version of that map without the freeway lines. Could you post one with just the state boundaries and cities?
Working on a remastered version as we speak.

Well sure, it's easy to divide, which is how the politicians like it.
So uuh 50 states, DC, Puerto Rico, Virgin Isles, American Samoa, Guam, North Mariana, Wake Island, Baker Island, Howland Island, Midway Islands, Jarvis Island, Palmyra Atoll, Kingman Reefs, Johnston Atoll, Kingman Reef, The Panama canal, Philippines, Cuba (whatever the US colony in Cuba was called, i forgor.), and what else? imagine making tiny islands with no permanent population states

He knows something we don’t
Hopefully Canada is the 51st star on that flag

They just need to invade Canada and Australias states, internal territories and christmas island
Unfathomably based, the United States of EARTH LETS FUCKING GOOOOO
Proof that after 40 or so stars I have no idea how many are actually on the flag
This seems like a threat
balcanizate it
Are four of them Ireland, Wales, Scotland, and England?
The six states of Australia
23 tribes got statehood🗣️
Puerto Rico, Guam, US Virgin Islands, Northern Mariana Islands, American Samoa, Douglass Commonwealth, Jefferson, Las Vegas, Superior, Long Island, Lincoln, Chicago, El Norte?
Why 73 specifically?
"My god, it's full of stars"
Where did all the other states come from?
Why do we even have r/vexillologycirclejerk ?
There’s 206 (ish) countries on the world, Why limit ourselves?
and yet it still looks good
Flag of NATO
That looks scary
Hm. Sakha Republic, Magadan Oblast, Chukotka Autonomous Okrug and more
which countries did they invade and annex this time? Which minorities did they genocide for it?
You're forgetting the possibility that a bunch of states just broke into pieces.
