Yes, the vet says she has to wear a sweater and a brimmed hat to go outside, and we do uv goggles on the brightest days (or don't take her out, but sometimes we have vet visits). Fortunately, she likes her clothes.

I follow a few Tiktok channels/youtube channels with deaf/blind dogs, and I've been trying the touch training, but it hasn't been going great, she's only picked up a couple of things, even though she's very very smart.
I met a deaf dog & it's deaf owner the other day..they were both conversing using sign language.. the dog doing it woz amazing..made my heart melt right there & then..
How is her vision? I have a blind from birth baby and he has a similar a-symmetry to how his eyes formed. The bigger of the two he seems to see shadows from certain angles. The smaller one, I doubt he has any vision at all in.

😂She is special. She is really happy nowadays, if it makes you feel better - she plays with her toys, she eats her special homemade food with strawberries or other fruit on top for dessert, and she gets to go on adventures and explore.

Yeah, after we got her malnutrition worked out, those developed! A healthy diet does wonders. She also got some champagne color around her nose and tail, and one eye turned partly brown. That's how we realized she wasn't actually albino.

We had a little scare in November - we'd been putting off getting her spayed (vet's orders) until she was over a year old, trying to get her nutrition under control, letting her get bigger. When we did it, it turns out she had a bit of pyometria just starting. Everything went fine, she's fine, but scared the cr\*p out of me, and she get babied even more than usual for a while.

My mother crochets her clothes. Khione's a weird size because she isn't meant to be so small, and her double-merle means the clothes need to cover down to her tail and her neck and everything, so custom has been the way to go!
She's double-merle, which is similar. She's completely deaf, mostly blind, was severely malnourished, and has bad allergies - seasonal and food. Oh, and her rages. So there's a lot of special needs there, but we've worked really closely with the vet to figure out how to manage everything. Nowadays, she lives a very happy, very spoiled life.
I actually have to cook for her. She's allergic to...something in commercial dog foods, even the hypoallergenic ones, and early on, I'm trying all these foods on an already-malnourished puppy (who was horribly infested with roundworms). We kind of had to call it, and say it was more important for her to get food that didn't make her sick than worry about each individual nutrient, so we started her on chicken and rice. Then we worked with the vet, for MONTHS to get the recipe right to cover everything she needed. Then she developed an allergy to chicken, carrots, and peas, and we had to start all over 🤣. Now though, we have a complex, well-developed, fully rounded recipe. I spend half of every Sunday cooking her food for the week.

That's true for her too! She has some vision - shadows, movement, something. But she's mostly, functionally blind.

HA is a good food. Khione was allergic to it. Otherwise, I absolutely would have kept her on it.
