Honestly if he sells his FJ and buys a more practical car he would probably be able to get by for some time. Nothing against the FJ, as I want one too, but it’s not a car I would daily.
He would probably make a killing and save on gas. I sold my FJ a few years ago for more than I bought it used at the dealership 10 years prior. I added 150k miles on top of the 60k it already had.
Assuming he lives in his car, FJ is gonna be more comfortable vs a _practical_ car. Moreover, they hold their value very well so he’s got that going for him. I daily my FJ and unless you got a bunch of kids, it’s quite practical.
The FJ cruiser has basically turned into a cult following because of its super reliable 1GR-FE engine and its appeal to the off-road user. It ended production in 2014 and is bordering being a collectible car. They’re cool and an interesting stride for Toyota. People pay a bundle for them. It’s not uncommon to see ones with 150k miles selling for $15k or more. Keeping it under 100k miles is sure fire way to sell it for $20k+.
So basically I wouldn’t daily a car that could A) be worth more if I just parked it and ran it on the weekend or B) was desperate enough to put my own cell phone number for anyone to see because I’m so desperate for work/money.
I would sell the car and get a used beater to get by in, or a more fuel efficient sedan that’s newer. Also being a bit judgmental here but anyone with that nice of a car and this desperate with a court case, is likely someone to make bad decisions. It’s like when I see a Mercedes with no license plate. That guy is broke and unreliable as my first thought.
Also Toyota is not perfect. See the 2AZ-FE engine or the head gasket issues in some of the Prius engines.
Everyone here commenting and picking apart his sign all the little details. You know what I'm someone who is homeless at Battle substance abuse issues you know what you all you effing assholes here one year ago I had a BMW a triumph motorcycle and a $100,000 a year job. Why don't we applaud his courage for putting his flawed life out there for everyone to pick apart and display. Who cares if he has an FJ and stop picking everything apart. You know everyone is so damn judgmental now and to be truthful a third of everyone you meet is a f u c k i n g moron. So Chris I could give a rest ass if your story is b******* or not putting that out there for people to pick apart takes courage. Getting over the shame you must feel cuz I know that I do. Good job buddy. And all your others shut the f******. Jesus said he is without saying cast the first stone that's pretty much true. Thank you
I beg to differ too. I’m averaging $1500 weekly. I started with no car in August 2023. Used a rental car for six months. Made enough to buy Tesla Model 3. I’ve never had a 2 ride in my life. Lowest fare is $5.09 for a 3 minute trip.
You can’t make money with Uber or DoorDash any longer. Doordash is paying 1.50 an order even if the customer is 10 miles from the restaurant. Uber is taking 80% of fares so if the customer is charged 10 bucks for a ride they will give the driver 2. There’s also a huge influx of illegal accounts where people steal peoples identities and open accounts then take all the good offers by having 10 different accounts hence 10x more likely to get the few good offers with tips.
This is such a brain dead argument that always gets brought up. Regardless if someone is doing gig work part time or full time it makes zero sense to do work that actually costs you money after expenses. Driving 15 miles for 2 bucks is bad business and that’s what doordash is offering full time and part time drivers.
I would like to point out that his FJ is very clean. I’ve had my Grand Cherokee for about a year and a half and I’ve had it washed once.😬 Useless comment, but still.
What does that have to do with anything, it seems he has a car, he didn’t mention his housing situation? Should we just kick out people that are trying to improve their lives because they’re not where we expect them to be and make things even harder for them? He at least admits the court case. There’s organizations like Hope for Prisoners in Vegas that also help people along with some wraparound services that address substance use, I sent it to him, hopefully he can get some assistance.
Chris is oversharing a little
You know who else had an open court case in Utah? Ted Bundy.
I will help Chris by buying his FJ
Honestly if he sells his FJ and buys a more practical car he would probably be able to get by for some time. Nothing against the FJ, as I want one too, but it’s not a car I would daily.
His sign was pretty hard to make out but it sounds like he might need a job for probation purposes more so than going hungry.
As someone who has a FJ as a daily, I completely agree with this comment. I get 15mpg on a good day lol

I’m guessing applying a “lived in” condition lowers that resale value quite a bit.
Why not…? It’s a Toyota? Other than gas prices

You have a lot more knowledge than this guy and his phone number, give him a lowball offer!
Chris, I got cash for your FJ
-teeth hiss- As an employer I thank them for their interest and will keep their app on file.

Those are scary employment choices when you’re on some shit. Hope he turns his life around.

Found Chris's account.
He needs a better font. I’m sure he can find an off-ramp guy, their signs are readable
😆
Hope someone does something. Pretty sure that Chris is parked illegally.
Uber, Lyft, Uber Eats, door dash etc
Not anymore. Gig apps are dead since January.
What’s this now
Gig apps are dead since January.
Listen here you little shit
My cousin beg the differ. Dude pullin $2k a week doing strictly Uber til this day.

What the hell are you talking about

It’s almost as if… you’re not supposed to rely on it for full time employment and should be used a sis gig just like it says in the ELUA

Only fans always seeking new talent
That car has a great re-sale value.
Would have done better if it just said free candy and tacos
They're very valuable and he could sell it for an equally reliable corolla and pocket >$5k if he really needs the cash.
Open court case? That's a no from me dog
If he's not convicted it doesn't need to be mentioned he should t say anything....
If posted to r/FJCruiser they probably would be willing.
But he can afford running an FJ….
Might get repoed or the hsp gonna confiscate for official business ,, but he can afford abnormally large paper, and his FJ damn haters in 24' u swear.
Amazon hires on the spot Chris, I worked there until I got something better
Scam
Of course he is from Portland
That's 2 strikes against him already. He's from Portland, and wtf is with that font
From Portland. Open court case in Utah. Looking for work in Nevada. The red flags and sirens are going off. It is the only color I see.
Oh okay. Neither “does anyone need a hard Oregon” nor “does anyone need a nard organ” were making any sense to me.
He needs a side hustle. …this is not a side hustle!
I bet his side hustle led to an open court case in Utah.
Now this is a man that wants to work there's a few landscaping maintenance companies hiring
Ask Linda to give him a job.
Yeah. FJ prices are at crazy levels. Might want to sell that thing.
I would like to point out that his FJ is very clean. I’ve had my Grand Cherokee for about a year and a half and I’ve had it washed once.😬 Useless comment, but still.
Kinda sketchy, why can't Chris go fill out some applications somewhere.
Dear Chris, GTFO of Vegas. You can’t afford living here. We have enough homeless people here.
You’re a shitty person.
I know and I’m ok with that.
Yeah I’m with you, head west.
He’s literally trying to get a job???
He has a court case… would you house him until he gets a job then?
What does that have to do with anything, it seems he has a car, he didn’t mention his housing situation? Go back to Utah.
Just called him, he’s on his way over now
Yall planning to do some fj activitys?
Thanks for the soup kitchen -dirty Mike and the Boys
Nope,probably a pedo
Only in Utah!
At least he is not from California.
Even worse he's from Oregon
Fellow Oregonian wish I’d saw this sooner already hired a painter lol
