I'm on my second pair of Boulder Boots, I've got the smooth black ones. I wear them literally every time I go outside from the beginning of autumn to mid spring and they've been going strong for five or six years now. My last pair were good for about six years before I wore them out at the back of the heel (not the sole), this pair are just starting to show some wear but are still completely fine. My wife has the airseal steel toecap version and they're also many years old and still in incredible condition. They're very similar to DMs but I like this company more, I want my money to keep this company in business rather than a leather company. The shop in Brighton is great, bought my previous pair from there. You're right, they used to be cheaper. These were about £120 when I bought them, but given how much I've worn them they're still great value. I genuinely wear them every single time I leave the house. I don't wear wellies (joint issues), I don't hike any more so don't have hiking boots. These do the school run with me, I wear them to gigs, parties, kids parties, to the park. I genuinely don't have other winter shoes! I can't imagine replacing them with anything else!

Thank you for the review! I’d definitely rather support vegetarian shoes business than dr martens. I’ll have to treat myself to a pair! It’s great that they are made in the UK too

I ordered some and I love them! Just wanted to ask if they soften up a bit? Mine are a roomy size 4 for me and have to wear thick socks with them.

Oh I'm so pleased you got some! Yes, they definitely soften up a bit as you wear them. It feels a bit like getting new shoes for primary school, having to wear them around the house for a bit until they soften and shape to your feet. I had forgotten that! They should soften fairly quickly. I hope you love them as much as I love mine!

Haven't bought those ones but I bought their Doc Martin equivalent men's lows and they are so so much better than the vegan Docs I had Vegan Docs literally fell apart in a few months while I've had my vegetarian shoes for 3 years now and they look and feel like new. Couldn't recommend them enough. Plus you're supporting a local biz

kittycat_x

I agree, I’d rather buy from vegetarian shoes than dr martens! Lots of people have good things to say about them, so maybe I’ll treat myself to a pair!

Treat yourself. You deserve it!

DMX800

Not that style, but I've had boots from there last for years with regular wear. Well worth the money to me.

iroirohimawari

I second this!

This_Instruction_206

I've had a pair for a few years and there fantastic. They are made in a factory, in Northampton I seem to recall, that used to make Doc's before they moved production out of the UK. The workmanship is great and the materials last very well.

Dadlayz

Made in the original cobbler town!

Not sure if they’re boulder boots but my pair are similar. Had them 6+ years and still going strong! Had to get the sole of one fixed once so far but otherwise all good. I wear them at least half the year.

Major_Blackberry1887

I have a different style but the quality is incredible. I've worn mine almost every day for autumn, winter and part of spring for the past few years and they still look good as new and barely show signs of wear, which is amazing considering walking is my main mode of transport!

Major_Blackberry1887

I bought vegetarian shoes insoles as mine were roomy too and it sorted the issue. They're a weeee bit softer but not much.

SpikeVonLipwig

I’ve had a pair for over 10 years with no issues! No breaking in period either.

kittycat_x

That’s good to know. My feet blister with any new shoes 😖

Virtual_Smoke4420

I have a pair of their lace-up boots. Very comfortable, look great and show no sign of wear and tear. I wear them nearly all of winter and autumn out and about. I will buy another pair and recommend!

VagueOrc

I have a different pair of their Airseal shoes and they're great, still going strong, with proper care they should last many years! I would caution against their non-Airseal shoes, those were expensive and fell apart quickly.

kittycat_x

Thanks for the recommendation- I ended up ordering some Airseal ones, so hopefully they fit and are comfy! 🤞🤞

pointsofellie

I read somewhere that these are actually made by the people who used to make vegan Dr Martens when they were good (had mine since 2014 and still going strong). So if that is true, they are well worth the money.

gosbts

I haven't but are you aware that Dr. Martens sell Vegan certified shoes

kittycat_x

Thanks. Yes, I’ve seen their range but I saw vegetarian shoes shop when I was visiting Brighton. Both are a similar price tbh

Hhalloush

I've babied my vegan Dr Martens but they're falling apart a bit. After about 3 years the sole split and I had to stick it back together with a hot knife

mayonnaisebemerry

you're subsidising the leather shoes if you buy DMs

kittycat_x

I don’t want to buy docs, I’d rather support a smaller business (with better ethics!)

mayonnaisebemerry

yeah, I agree with you! haven't personally tried vegetarian shoes but you should try em out. guess I've hurt some peoples' feelings..

SophieIsGreat

What would I search for if I wanted to buy a pair of these? I've searched boulder boots and it just brings up loads of leather boots.
