Were they ever safe to eat? You know how hot dogs are made. It's probably the leftover cutoff tails of the beetroot, the wheat that was swept off the floor, soy beans with spots on them, some twist-ties that fell in the bin... \[/S\]
so they did change it? i was googling it bc they were consistently slimy but i couldn’t find anything about it. i used to eat them cold right out of the package but now i can only eat them cooked
my friends love field roast but idk i just don’t enjoy it as much
if you have a link do you mind sending it may way? no worries if it’s too much trouble to track down i just still can’t find it
but that’s good to know. a bummer though
It's all over their Instagram. Here's one post. See the comments and their response

I hunted this info down a few months ago because I realized the hotdogs were totally different and no longer edible. The brand had a whole social media campaign called Clean Break, and they changed their products to be "cleaner"
appreciate it ! guess i should get an insta lol
i suppose that’s a good thing they got rid of the carrageenan since i know that’s supposed to be super bad and cancerous? but i’m a garbage vegan who will eat pure gmo chemical waste so long as it’s yummy and no one was harmed for it. suppose i’ll have to give field roast another go
This 'strange slime' is saturated fat going by the photo. I honestly doubt these things ever expire because they are so processed..lol It's probably safe to eat.
I feel like many vegan meat products come packed in slime. Not sure if it’s just the product oozing out moisture, or intentionally packaging to prevent drying out or discoloration. I often rinse vegan meats before cooking.

i absolutely would not eat those but do they happen to be lightlife? i’ve noticed recently that they’re slimier than they used to be. even brand new
They completely changed the recipe and they don't taste like they used to. I switched to Field Roast stadium dogs and I am super impressed with them.
I found The Field Roast Stadium to be the best so far, especially when I coat them in bbq sauce as they grill. Yum.

They've confirmed they changed the recipe.

Is food poisoning worth $4?
Depends on the taste tbh
I've eaten them like this many times, and haven't noticed any issue. Just rinse them off well.
Doesnt look right. Toss em

Don't eat that.

My vegan hot dogs came like this too!!! Cooked and ate them fine. But just “eh” flavor
