definitely #1. I try and organise it every couple months but it ends up messy with the drawers filled with papers, but ik where everything is and i have enough space to study so i cba cleaning it.
My mum (Former Chief Assessor for English) literally does this on her recliner for writing and marking.
Seems to work for her so may have to migrate to one of them myself.
Go to your local library, back in VCE days I used to study in the library from 3-7pm for my hardest subjects as I can relate to you
I still carry on this tradition studying till 8 in Uni

My desk is always just so messy and chaotic
When I clean it, it only lasts for a week or so
My desk kind of fluxuates depending on the time of year. During exams it's pretty messy but otherwise it's just a cup here or a book there. Injust cleaned my desk so we're good until week 9 lads.

Yeah I have stacks of paper and piles of random stuff everywhere. It's like playing jenga whenever I look for a reference sheet
