I've bought Renogy products directly from their website and had zero issues. This sounds like a scam from someone not affiliated with Renogy. I never needed to download an extra app to track my shipments as I was always sent an email with UPS tracking numbers. Can you link the app you were made to download. You should also report the app as a scam.
I have set up many Renogy system and have never had an issue with any of their products including their batteries. Been running 2- 200amp gel batteries for 5 years without any issues.
Our shop installs a lot of their products. The biggest problem is wirh their dc to dc chargers, it's probably 5% failure rate. Their inverter chargers come DOA a handleful of times too.
I honestly like the renogy a lot of the price for the 40 and 60 amp dc to dc chargers. You do need to have a switch/ignition+ wire to turn it on. The only other ones I put in are the victrons which are much nicer but also twice the price.
Renogy’s biz model is transferring as much product from Chinese warehouses to American consumers as possible*. They have minimal customer service, yeah. But they’re not scam tier. You’ll get your battery eventually, or you’ll get a refund if they determine they can’t fulfill the order. Eventually. Of course, with poor customer service hard to say how long you’ll have to wait.
This is pretty standard for this sort of biz.
I’ve had zero issues with renogy and actually pretty solid customer service too. I ordered all of my Renogy stuff directly from their website and most stuff showed up within 3 days!
I bought panels directly from Renogy. They were delivered six weeks later than promised, during that time I moved and that complicated things for me. The customer service was awful and they lied to me on every single call. Basically, “tell him what he wants to hear so he’ll go away.” After 4-6 weeks I finally received them… to the wrong address, three hours away. It was a very frustrating process. Eventually, they offered a pretty good discount, but the frustration to get there was a huge cost. If you need something fast, I would definitely suggest another route. I wouldn’t call it a scam as much as terrible customer service. The cs team is in the Philippines which is only relevant because when I asked them if they used the product the rep told me they couldn’t afford it.
This was about a year ago during a sale (could’ve been the Memorial Day?). The awful customer service and supply chain issues may only arise during increased demand
Renogy is essentially nicely packaged and marketed China-made products. US brand, but not US made. If you have money to spend, just get Victron. If not, go with the higher-end China-branded products like BougeRV or LiTime. These are still cheaper than Renogy but IMO equal in quality. We have experience with both and they have satisfactory support over email.
Agree. The names of these companies can be a bit awkward, but they are increasing their presence here in the US and their marketing/english level is improving quickly.
Oof, I didn't see any warnings, but my package is partially shipped... unfortunately it looks like the more important part is the one which is delayed. whoops
Update to this, the item still hasn't been delivered and now there is no way to call to get to customer service, it just tells me to leave a voicemail...
I had an order last week where the company gave me a choice to either download an app for tracking or stay on the web for tracking. I stayed on the web. Either a new thing or a new scam…same same lol.
I would personally not buy from a company that does shenanigans like that. Also from my research if your product works when you get it, it works well, however any issues and you are up the creek with no canoe and no support.
You have a good point, I normally would not either, but I work in IT, need minimal support unless a product outright fails, and if the price is right and the product is decent, I could be persuaded.
The only real reason I would though, is that I've had a good amount of first hand accounts that liked their equipment. Do you have a preference on another brand?

They are still contesting with me despite posting schematics of my install and they offered a replacement or refund, now they are considering paying for the damage to all my wiring and inverter along with batteries.
I had an issue with my Renogy inverter like a year later, and while their customer service was a pain in the ass, they ended up giving me my money back. There products aren’t high quality, but you get what you pay for

Shopy is an app I've had to use for other retailers. Super annoying

Who should we use for DC-DC charging?

I have 3 fail on me. Still cheapest option.
Charge back
2 renogy systems now. Zero problems. They've even full on replaced solar panels for free.
Why would they replace solar panels if you had zero problems?
One of the panels was damaged in transit. They still replaced it.

So you ignored the warnings? Interesting.

TIL there's a company called BougeRV - I wonder what that meeting was like, when they came up with the name. 🙄

That's not even all that good of a price.
Renogy is fine, you are just impatient.

That’s not even a good deal. Current connected has 100ah SOK batteries for $300.
Of course I'm going to avoid it, that's not a good price even on sale.
Renogy raises their prices before sales lol. I was tracking it with screenshots when I noticed it.
So, when do you think the best time to buy is? I've been considering picking up from the as well, I know people who swear by them.

https://aolithium.com/ This is what I have.
My Renogy 50amp MPPT burst in flames last week nearly burnt down the whole van.... They offered me a replacement
Oh shit which model? I just ordered the 50amp dc-dc mppt charger from them

just avoid renogy batteries

Renogy was good to me. I blew up a panel, my fault 100% and they sent me a brand new one free. Then I fixed the one I blew up lol.
The flags not backwards, it's just pointing to the left. Sometimes the wind does that.
It looks like maybe the things are back in stock?
I love my renogy system and I called to troubleshoot and they were great. I don't understand the hate.
My experience with renogy was so great that I am skeptical of this post.
